Ronaldo: Wigan’s Chelsea Result Was Fantastic

Cristiano RonaldoChelsea travel to Goodison Park this evening for a ridiculously scheduled league game which was shifted so it could be shown on the telly, knowing that they must win. United fans can sit back and relax, cheering on Everton for two reason. Firstly, to take points off Chelsea to leave us with the opportunity of winning the league at Stamford Bridge, but also, to come closer to displacing the dippers from the top four.

Cristiano Ronaldo has today spoken out about United’s task in hand, which is to pick up all three points from Ewood Park on Saturday evening, particularly after Chelsea lost more ground on us on Monday, following an injury time equaliser from Wigan.

“When Chelsea dropped points after we won it was fantastic for us,” said Ronaldo. “We are in a good position. Blackburn will be a tough game, but if we win we have a good chance to win the title.”

Ronaldo also reflected on our recent win over Arsenal, which ended any hope they had of winning the title, and condemning them to third year without any silverware. “We won the game because we changed the players,” he said. “Anderson and Carlos came on and changed the game. It’s very important for the team to have those sorts of players to come and change things.”

United appear to be cruising at the moment and it certainly is our title to throw away at this point. Five points clear with four games to go is a great position to be in, regardless of the trip to Stamford Bridge that awaits us. However, our position would be significantly improved with a result from Everton today, meaning United could win the league earlier, which would leave our players in better condition for Moscow ;)

Do you fancy Everton taking points off Chelsea tonight?

I know Steve Bruce, as a professional man wouldn’t give us a helping hand in winning the title but I hope by the last day of the season Wigan will be safe from relegation and can afford to put out a team with a mind to attack rather than frustrate our players. On their awful pitch I hope we do the job.

Apart from that the other fixtures don’t worry me that much. I know Blackburn can be a handful and they certainly have a top quality side but watching them against Liverpool they didn’t seem to be playing with much passion. Though, when United roll in to town that will change.

West Ham are definately a thorn in our side looking back over the last 2 years or so.. we have lost against them 3 times on the trot.. but at Old Trafford, I really think we’ll pay them back for our last home game of the year.

Chelsea. They are by far the best team out of our last four, but they cannot afford to use their dull, grinding out style against us. We will have the opportunity to frustrate them and we are they masters at breaking records. Arsenal’s 49 game unbeaten run ended against us and we did the same to Chelsea when they were on a great run 2 years back.

We are destined for the title. It won’t be easy at all and there may be a few nervy days ahead, though with a team full of match winners I am quietly confident.

I think Everton have hit a brick wall, as bad as Chelsea have been playing I think they will have just enough to beat Everton :( . I hope Everton hammer them though :D

right now i dont relly care if we win the title on the final day of the season…as long as we win it. given the raised standard of the league esp due to mr. jose m. i never gave united a chance to win the league back in august when it took us 4 games to register a first win of the season. if our worst start to a premier league season meant that that we shall be 5pts clear with 4 games remaining, THEN I WILL TAKE THAT. AND I’M SURE SO WOULD FERGIE.

cant wait for kickoff today! would be great for everton to take even 2 points off chelski. plus, to keep brucey’s ex-united player rally going – I believe Phil Neville is due for us next ;)

  8. NiKOS says:

    HI! Fresg meat me.
When we dropped points against boro I was sure that chelsea was going to do the same thing. Of course I didn’t know that Brucy’s team and Heskey were capable of making them run like rabbits. Awaoaoaoa-ay!
I thought Everton was the team that would make them look like shit compared to us.Final score 1-1 . Then we win them and that’s all. I’m not totally sure if we can win Blackburn but I’m sure we ll win them.Giggs is the man for them.

  9. NiKOS says:

Rumour has it Grant might even play our first team now the poor souls are well rested, so I reckon we could nick a point off Everton – as long as Moyes is in goal.
