Cristiano Ronaldo was lucky to escape unharmed after writing off his Ferrari sports car earlier this morning.
Edwin Van der Sar was travelling behind Ronaldo in his Bentley with both players believed to be on their way to Carrington.
He crashed into a roadside barrier in a tunnel which takes traffic under the airport runways between Wilmslow and Hale, Cheshire.
“I got there just after the accident had happened and saw the state of the car,” said a witness. “It is amazing he got out of it without a scratch.”
It is not yet known whether this crash puts his chances of playing in Sunday’s crucial game against Chelsea in doubt.

The most important thing is that he is alright.I think he will be ok for Sunday.I too had a crush at his age and it was my fault.It affects you mostly mentally.But if he can handle every defender in the UK kicking away at him he can handle this.Besides there is no way he will allow Ashley Cole escape his usual night of hell at Old Trafford.
Looking at the pictures of wrecked car he was lucky to get out with no injuries. Just hope he hasn’t got whiplash or summat and will miss rent boy game.
The Independent says that he attended the training session,so i don’t think he suffered any whiplash.We will have to wait and see but i think he will be ok for Sunday.Sometimes these things motivate you even more.Shame about the Ferrari though…
Now i just read that he trained normally and is expected to play a full part on Sunday.But there will be an absentee.Apparently Roman Abramovich won’t do us the honour of coming to Old Trafford.Don’t blame him.After the humiliation of losing the Champion’s League final in my own back yard i wouldn’t go to Old Trafford either.Just a question and sorry if it sounds naive:Why do we call them rent boys?

Hope he gets better, and now is the time for the fans to support him more than ever, despite the things he said last summer. We may not like what he did but as long as he is a part of the team, we have to show him we apperciate him.
Weirdly, I dreamt last night that one of the United lads was involved in a car crash, but it was Scholesy, not Ronaldo. Still a little freaked out when I opened up the BBC Sport site, though!
Anyway, thank God he isn’t hurt, that’s the most important thing. I’m sure he’s got some spare change knockin’ about in his jeans pocket to cover the cost of a new Ferrari and the inevitable increase in insurance.

Well said we all know he was a complete arsehole last summer but he is a narcissist and needs to be adored I think that is why he’s having a quiet one this season because the siege mentality of old trafford isn’t there this season backing him to the hilt. And I think while he wears the red shirt he should be supported whether we like him or not I’d rather have him in our side than against.
