Whilst some reports are still determined to continue the drama of Cristiano Ronaldo and Real Madrid, it appears as though our winger is settling in nicely at the club again.
He is making all the right noises at the moment, grateful for the fans’ support and determined to do well for the club.
This season he has set his target on winning the title again, the third year in a row, but has taken a more modest approach to his game, saying he will try his best to replicate the form of last season.
“I am always ready for a challenge,” he said. “This season is the same. I will try to do my best, play like I did last year and help Manchester United win the title. I don’t know if I can do it but I will try. If you don’t try you don’t get anywhere. I will do the same things again and hopefully opportunities will come.”

Modesty from Ronnie, whatever next, Fergie will embrace an interview with the BBC!, Anderson will score a goal! and Liverpool will win the league!! Sorry went too far with the last comment far too unbelieveable.
Haha I quite enjoyed that comment Stephen
Dippers winning the league,,,,i’d rather die.
Two issues need to be separated here:
First, Ronaldo is a professional football player who craves recognition as the “world’s best” so he is not in it for the money; he’s in it for the glory.
Second, he’s not a Mancunian, he’s not English; SO, his “dream” to play elsewhere is perfectly understandable. And, since he has – for two years’ running, been the best player in the EPL then (in his mind) he has nothing more to prove playing for Manchester United.
Therefore, from his perspective there is no reason why he shouldn’t look for new challenges.
If he hadn’t signed that five-year contract then he’d be gone already. But, he did sign that contract so he is not able to exercise his choice to pursue his dream.
He’s stubborn and proud and very, very rich so I wouldn’t be surprised to see him quietly tell SAF and the UTD hierarchy that if they don’t yield to his dream then he will exercise his legal right to buy himself out of that contract.
As I wrote earlier, I’d like to know what Fergy told him – besides the legalese and the romanticism. I think that he was told by his “second father” that we will see his “third father” (Carlos Quieroz) reappear in Manchester after the next Portugal’s World Cup games to assume the manager’s mantle from SAF.
My reason for this suspicion is two-fold:
First, who else is there to assume the manager’s job from TheOldFootieKnight ? and,
Second, Ronaldo is very sincere when he talks about the paternal influence that Sir Alex and Carlos provided him at a very difficult time, when his father died at such a young age (45, I think). I’m not sure that “loyalty” is at issue so much as filial piety, directed towards Fergy and Carlos.
I guess the FIFA rules clearly say that you cannot buy out your contract ie act under the webster clause if your are below the age of 30.
Leave like a hero, is number18 the challenge given to him ?
