Ronaldo then went on to confirm what a massive part Sir Alex Ferguson has to play in his place at the club.
“The boss is always important for me, not just last season but every season,” added Ronaldo. “I am at this club because of him. He saw me in a few games before I played against Manchester United – people think I came here just because I played (well) against United but it’s not true. He’s always helped me and I said to him, “I want to be part of this club with you. I want to win trophies with you.” He’s very important in my career, Sir Alex Ferguson.”

I’ve got a sneaky suspicion that during the summer transfer window UTD will sell him – probably to an Italian club – but definitely not Real Madrid. Fee? About 50 mill pounds. UTD will then sign Alexis Sanchez for about 12 mill pounds. The balance will then go towards building the 2 quadrants on the southern stand. There’ll be no major signings in the summer providing the deal for Tevez is finalised.
i would like to see ronaldo take the ball to the byeline more, like his previous seasons, as he seems to cut inside this season, and when he does, he gets hacked by stronger centre backs and box to box midfielders….

DanS is right on.That’s all every United fan wants from him.I wouldn’t take his comments too seriously though.It seems like Ronaldo’s comments in the media always vary based on who is going to read them.I didn’t expect him to say anything different to MUTV.At this moment and having reached a low point of the season(one goal in ten games,disappointing performances and 4 retaliating kicks on opponents) he needs to realise that if he doesn’t start playing again to his full potential,he will never draw the interest of Real,Barca or whoever else he wants to play for again.I hope this short vacation he will take(and the same goes for Ando and Tevez) recharges his batteries physicaly but above all mentally.

Costas raises a good point nobody will want him if his form stays as it is now. You are only as good as your last game, last season he was phenominal, but this year has got off to a slow start.

What is done is done; he’d've been better off keeping his mouth shut (as usual) and letting his football do the talking since the only way to get the fans back onside is to begin performing again. Hopefully him putting this past few weeks’ worth of average performances behind him begins with his short trip back to Portugal.

BrisbaneRed, there is no way United will build an extention on the South stand any time soon, its as easy as its ever been to get a ticket for United, the club is virtually giving season tickets away, so many season ticket holders are giving up their season tickets. Now all we are left with is day tripping twats who dont even support the club, the atmospheres have been nothing short of a disgrace this season.
I’m giving up my season ticket after this season, people are better of being a one United member, all this automatic cup scheme bollocks, if I dont go to a game I can never sell my ticket on that via go go bollocks. I used to love going to watch United, now it feels like an effort, if the atmosphere was still there I would love it, but quite frankly I am getting bored of singing on my own.
Also I dont buy this Ronaldo rubbish, it will never be the same between us the fans and him. I am grateful for everything he has done for the club, hes an amazing talent, but we loved him and turned him into a marter, and the way he acted in the summer was like being stabbed in the back! There is soooo very much poop written about Ronaldo – a lot of it purporting to be direct quotations from him – that one would like to have had some sort of “chain of evidence”.
That said, I beg to differ with a couple of previous posters on this thread. The issue is not that Ronaldo needs to play as a more “orthodox” winger and get to the bye-line BUT RATHER that the central strikers – Rooney, Berbatov, and Tevez – need to play centrally AND up-front. Ronaldo is absolutely devastating when he floats into the hole, behind the two (or three) central forwards. What’s been happening too much this year is that all three of the central forwards are wandering into this space which has two, inter-connected detrimental effects: one, it compresses the verticality of the attack; and, two, it makes it much easier for the defenders to clutch, grab, bump, jostle, and otherwise slow down (or derail) the point of attack. It means that too much side-to-side passing results in possession without penetration. The central strikers need to play both centrally and forward THEN you will see Ronaldo at his best again.

I’ve still got good enough connections to get tickets to any away match I want (in fact the only game I didn’t get a seat for in the end was Citeh) and most of the matches at home are utter shite (in terms of atmosphere) so the money’s better off in my pocket.
Daytrippers/JCLs/OOTscorporates are bad enough without the dickhead stewards picking me out of the crowd to tell me to sit down every match. I don’t pay over the odds to be told how to support my team by some jobsworthy cunt. Grrrrrrrrr, it annoys me no end!

Good point denton, it is too lateral at the moment for Ronaldo. Beating a man on the wing face-to-face is a pretty difficult skill for any player, he’s stopped coming inside and running at the centre backs and it is probably due to strikers positioning or could just be his disinterest, one or the other. Rooney was quite deep last year though, might just take a bit of time to get used to the fluidity in a new system with Berba etc..
