to be fair to the boy, the journalist tricked him by asking him if he liked playing in Portugal’s white away shirt and all these quotes are taken out context, like in most of his interviews.

This is the original interview according to a portuguese site:
Marca: “Cristiano, well done on you victoy. The white shirt bought you luck. Do you like playing in the white shirt?”

Ronaldo: “Yes I do, for Portugal that is. For Manchester, I prefer red”

Consider, first, that this kid is in the spotlight 24/7 so he’s obviously used to being “used” by the media. And probably enjoys “winking” at them, too.

Consider, second, that he has signed an iron-clad agreement to be at OldTrafford for the next four years.

Consider, third, that he has ALWAYS spoken reverently about the care and compassion shown to him by SAF and CQ.

Consider, fourth, that the “rumours” about the Nike connection (for a CR7 collection of sporting apparel) is probably worth waaaaay more money to him than any fees that Real Madrid could (or would) pay for him.

Consider, fifth, that if he goes to Madrid then he loses his “image rights” which in our globablized ecomomy would be worth untold millions.

And, finally, consider, sixth, that he has a better chance of winning trophies with this NewUntied team than with the fascists. And, in the globablized world of hype, winning is the only thing that matters.

Yes, he’s a great player – so far he’s been terrific at the EuroFootie shampionship, scoring one goal and being directly involved in four others.

BUt, for all that, he was the fourth “most valuable player” for UTD last year because in my opinion Rio, Vidic, and Rooney were “more valuable”.
