Ronaldo Reckons He Can Score 42 Goals Again – Is He Right?

“I’ve improved every season and last season was the best, but I want more,” Ronaldo said. “This season I want to score the same amount of goals, or more. It will be hard but it’s possible.”

Is it possible?

Ronaldo has played in 29 games and scored 13 goals.

In Ronaldo’s first 29 games of last season he’d scored double, hitting the back of the net on 26 occasions.

Yes why not, but its too late this year. He had already scored 23+ goals by this time last year. He can try next year!

  2. Cap says:

I dont see him scoring 42 this year – he was injured for the first few months and then off-form untill.. well, still not really in form, is he? Showing some signs he might be getting there, but still missing a few matches in a row where he does great.

I wouldnt put it past him to score 42 or more goals in a season agian some year – but on the other hand I dont see it happening really. The main reason he scored that many goals last year was that we didnt have a natural striker – both Tevez and Rooney loves to go deep and get the ball and Ronaldo often used the space they created to get into the box or at least around it. Now we have Berbatov to fill that gap, so Ronaldo will make more assists in the coming years than he’s done so far I reckon. That, and I guess keepers will learn how to handle his shots better – quite a few of the goals he scored last season was simply down to keepers not being able to cope with the curve the ball had.

yes why not he can score 42goals i’m sure that bt if he want 2 laeve united he will be missed. i hope u ronaldo 2 score 42 goals ………….

  4. costas says:

Not even Van Nistelrooy could score 28 goals or more in our remaining fixtures.I think he is at a stage where he has to accept that fact. His bodyshape in recent weeks doesn’t mean he wants out.It indicates that he is frustrated that he is not scoring as freely as he did last season. As soon as he gets over that,he will go on to play better.

  5. Slovenian says:

Ronaldo you should just score around 20 goals. Rooney, Berbatov and Tevez will score around 20 goals each and we will be just fine :)

  6. costas says:

By the way,is anyone else concerned that our deadline to sign up Carlos Tevez has passed? Now we are on an even playfield with anyone else who wants to sign him up for the summer. What that means is that soon enough we will enter the final turn of our season and we could have a player commited to Real(or even worse Chelsea or Shity) in our squad.

  7. Mic says:

Bit too late this year for him to get as many, I love the blokes effort but he really is in need of a rest, next season i’d expect at least 30 of him.

  8. debrabs says:

I expect him to get between 30 and 35 to be honest, he seems lately to be getting back into the form to do it…
We just gotta back the boy, if we show him the love then we’ll be repaid and all that matters is this season now and winning as much as we possibly can and he can affect that for us….

  9. King Eric says:

No chance this season but reckon he could still get thirty. If we have a few games where he scores a brace as he did so often last year then 30 goals could be realistic. That said, at the moment we are only managing a goal a game in a lot of our matches . I don’t care how many he scores as long as he keeps contributing to United.

By the way by my “records” he is on 14 this season.

  10. Blotto says:

Ronaldo will do just fine, he got caught up with Madrids transfer shenanigans which left him emotionally drained, then the ankle op delayed his return and by then Berba is in place and taking up Ronnies space from last season. He’s working it out and the goals are starting to come.
With Tevez I think Utd are playing hardball, if they have another succesful season Tevez will want to be part of that ,it will weakens his Agents desire to get maximum money for a deal.

I doubt he could but let him believe that he can. He seems to be off his game and this might give him some drive. VIVA RONALDO!

  13. SULLY [South Africa] says:

He plays on the left, He plays on the right, That boy Ronaldo makes England look shit… Viva Ronaldo

Agree completely; good analysis – the only thing I’d add is that by playing without both Tevez/Rooney, UTD don’t defend from the front as well as they did last year so that there are fewer openings carved into opposition defences. That said, thirty goals this year hardly seems out of reach – just think how close he was to getting one or two more against Everton last Saturday; when those close ones start bouncing in then his scoring rate will pick up. The sheer volume of chances created for the team stands in his favour.

  16. Red-Manc says:

Doubt he’ll do it this season, but if he can get near enough say 35 or so i think he’ll maybe do it again next season providing he stays injury free and is still at United.

Big ask though as long as United win and he plays well im not arsed if he never reaches it again.

  17. King Eric says:

Melvinho7: Absolutely spot on mate, that is without any doubt Tiny Tears. Where did you find that? funny as fuck, nice one.

  18. invertedquestionmark says:

He can but if he doesn’t, it’s not because he’s not good enough but because our other strikers consume the chances as well.

  19. Colbert says:

    Viva John Terry!

  20. jamos9 says:

Melvinho; lol gotta hate Tiny Tears!!

  21. EastStandManc says:

Blotto: There’s no “playing hardball” because the fee was agreed when we drew up the loan contract – it’s fixed already, no negotiations. That’s why Carlito has said “They know what they have to pay”. The cards still rest with us, rather than with other clubs, however, because he’s already settled here. That doesn’t mean he won’t entertain other offers, just not until we’ve made it clear we don’t want him.

To be fair, I can understand why we’re wary of paying another £22m on top of the £10m we will’ve already paid, because, as good a player as he is, he’s not worth £32m, I’m sorry. I’ve no doubt that if it were a matter of only adding another £8m pounds, that we’d've signed him up already.

I think SAF is just waiting as long as possible to see what other options materialise (which he’s fully entitled to do) before committing the majority of our transfer budget on one player.

  22. Adam says:

He could if he hits the kinda run he had all last season but a more reasonable target would be 25-30 and even that’d be impressive.

  23. 7Bestie7 says:

We don’t have enough games for him to hit that target but it’s definitely possible for him to do it again next season. However, perhaps it may be interesting if Sir Alex moves him inside and see how he performs as a “tricky #9″.

  24. rob the red says:

Melvinho………… LMFAO!!!!!!!!! All that crying has really showed his feminine side!!! Now he’s in warrington must mean he is on his way to dipperpoo to join the other tranny.

  25. King Eric says:

Off topic. Oh Dear, Oh Dear, Oh dear what are the dippers gonna do now as their “fuckin hard” inspirational captain Stevie Me has gone off after 15 minutes holding his thigh. No late shows or penalty appeals to save the cunts now. I think it is funny that FSW and vermin fans have been saying all week ” we will be ok after sale of Keane, as long as Stevie Me and the lady boy don’t get injured”. 15 minutes in and their nightmare has come true. I fuckin love it!

  26. DanS says:

Good luck to him. Can’t see it though. Viva Ronaldo!

  27. vidic will get ya15 says:

has anyone noticed ron started playin better since the viva ronaldo chant is doing the rounds once again, fort he was bang out of order in the summer but i can appriciate that he had his head turned by a club he supported as a youngster, alot of tappin up from that cunt pepe me thinks, nothing is impossible with this guy
