On the blog, I questioned whether Cristiano Ronaldo was right to claim that he would be loved once he returned to the first team.
It seems as though Ronaldo was right.
As Ronaldo warmed up along the touchline, fans stood and applauded him. As he was suiting up, his song was sung. His first few touches of the ball were met with rapturous cheers.
The summer of bullshit is forgotten and football fans are unsurprisingly fickle as ever.
