Ronaldo: We Will See About My Future

After winning the Champions League final last season, Cristiano Ronaldo told the press that he was staying at Manchester United. A few weeks later he claimed only God knew about his future. A few weeks after that he said he wanted to leave for Real Madrid.

After losing the Champions League final this season, Ronaldo told the press his future is with the national squad, resting, and we will see what happens after that.

“My future now is the national squad, so that we can win, so that we can be in a good position in our qualifying group,” said Ronaldo. “About clubs, I do not want to talk about that, I want to rest, go on holiday, I am very tired, I have played a lot of games, a lot of pressure. The future, we will see.”

    Sell, Sell, Sell.

As I said in a previous post, cash in. The longer this continues, the more detrimental it will be to squad moral.

He is world class, but his world class ego has become too much.

  6. denton davey says:

Calm down. UTD have the trump card. Besides, he has repeatedly said he’s going to stay at UTD because it’s like “home”. The guy was tired and disappointed and just wants time/space to chill.

  7. James says:

I think this team is already changing, sell Ronaldo, Bring in a quality left sided midfielder so that Rooney can play in the number 10 role up front. If he wants to go he can. Tevez can then stay so that we will have quality back up up front.

  8. costas says:

denton last night i was disappointed too.But i was very careful in what i said to people around me.Of course i didn’t go the emotions that he did,but come on.2 days ago,Fergie is his father and he is staying to the club. Now,the tactics didn’t work and he doesn’t know if he will stay.He loves the spotlight. But if we are going to have a good season next year,we will need him to be humble.

  9. David Quinn says:

Oh here we go again, the same old song and dance from Ronaldo. I’m switching off until the start of next season, whether he’s there or not i really couldn’t care less.

  10. roadkill4u says:

    sell high, buy low.

Well at least sell high. The days of buying low seem to be over as 25M for Tevez is still a bit steep. Cash in on Ronaldo as some will still have rose colored glasses on and think that he is still worth big bucks.

  13. denton davey says:

Costas: CR has been consistent in saying that “he doesn’t know” about the future. And why would he ? In professional sports there’s no loyalty, there’s only money – it’s why it’s “professional”, the players have sold their loyalty for money.

With Ronaldo, it’s not as if he’s playing for the local Madeira Fishermen or whatever, he’s smart enough to recognize that he has a short shelf-life and wants to maximize his income during that time. Good for him – he’s only got a seventh-grade education to fall back on so, realistically, what else is there for him ?

Besides, he’s still in the process of negotiating a new contract – or a re-negotiated one – so why would he reduce his bargaining power by saying that he wants to stay in Manchester above all else. That would be stupid. He might regard SAF as a “second father” and M/C as “home, but he knows that it’s all about the money.

SHOW ME THE MONEY ! And when UTD/Nike do show him the money, I just hope that the next contract has some iron-clad stipulation about his length of stay so that this charade is finally put to bed, for at least five years without any “ands”, “ifs”, or “buts”.

He’s a great player – a UTD-style entertainer – and I can put up with his pouting and the other baggage as long as he can put in the goals and tickle the thrill-mechanism in my brain.

  14. Stephen says:

I say let the dust settle if he continues this after a week or so then Ok lets all get on his back, it would be a massive climb down from what he said the previous day, but who knows.
I can tell you one thing he has more of a chance playing in the Bernabeu next season with us in the final than with Madrid, they are shite.

  15. zakeezy says:

Joero,I agree with your comment,no doubt he is world class it seems time change and he forgot who he was before joining man u.It seems his ego has gone beyond control he is not like previous legend who have left united, this guy is only after $$$$$$$$$ and he is not genuine loyal to man u ,his body language speak by itself….he did his part in the final and he blunders opportunity too due to his selfishness when at time Rooney or others could finish the game off.He has become a one man player trying to show off especially trying to outshine Messi .Keep Tevez who is more obedient and humble servant and sell this selfish idiot who has done much damage to the entire team.

  16. Sniper says:

All Utd fans are now bored of this off-season public entertainment saga. If he wants to leave, let him leave. No-one is indispensable Ronaldo, tevez, etc.

  17. costas says:

@denton: I like your viewpoint.Of course, every player has to think about his future first. That’s why it doesn’t bother me that he still doesn’t commit to the club. What does bother me is him questioning the tactics.I say, look in the mirror a bit.Ferguson is forced to use Rooney on the wing because Ronaldo won’t track back.So if SAF got his tactics wrong,it was because Ronaldo couldn’t play in his best position, thus allowing Wazza to play as a striker.

  18. AlphaRS says:

    Here we go again….

  19. Oreluvsunited says:

If i must say this i dont think we can stand another transfer summer battle with ronaldo again. pls Leave us in peace if you want to. We’ll move on.

  20. zlatanmagic says:

trade him in for ribery…. we own his contract and we can do wot we want … fergie should send him to bayern were he wont win jack

  21. Oreluvsunited says:

If i must say this i dont think we can stand another transfer summer battle with ronaldo again. pls fergie let him leave us in peace if he wants to. We’ll surely move on.

  22. thatboyneville says:

    Ferguson to-do list:

    1. Sell Ronaldo the diver
    2. Buy Ribery
    3. Buy proper striker, sell Berbatov too if needed to raise cash
    4. Start playing 4-4-2 again
    5. Put Rooney in attack

  23. joero says:

    @ James

Who are the world class left wingers? Everyone goes on about Ribery but I just don’t rate him. Silva seems promising but i’m not sure he can cut it in the EPL.

I also think we need a striker who just wants to sit in the box & get on the end of everything. Rooney is the closest out & out striker we have but he’s more comfortable dropping deep & influencing the play from 40-50 yards out. Same with Tevez, same with Berbatov. After last night I think another midfield wouldn’t hurt…is Iniesta for sale?!

As for Ronaldo, its wierd. I just don’t like him, and its a odd thing to say. I don’t think i’ve ever disliked one of our own players, it doesn’t seem right. But my god Ronaldo, if you want leave then you know what? Just F**king go. All this ‘future’ talk is seriously tiresome and now, I couldn’t care less.

  24. Dave Mack says:

You guys that hang on every word that Ronaldo allegedly says are bound to end up hating him.

Yesterday he said in English “I’m happy hear I’m staying”. This lasted interview was in Portugese and my Portugese friend says a closer interpretation of what he said was “Right now I don’t want to think about anything beyond the national squad. I’m tired I need a break from all club matters. I’m not even thinking about the future.”

Scott, why don’t we put a ban on this subject? It just irrates both Ronaldo lovers and haters and can only do MUFC harm.

  25. sahaisgod says:

plz ronaldo dont go.we need u.ystrday showed we are not even an average team when he does not fire and he was given no service whatsoever.probably was our best player

  26. joero says:

    @ Dave Mack

A ban on Ronaldo transfer chat would be amazing. Good plan.

  27. DK says:

    Enough is enough.

Ronaldo yesterday showed how much he cares. He traced back the ball he was trying to pester their defence he tried also to play in midfield. He was HUNGRY. That was unlike the rest of the team I am sorry.

When you see a game with Ronaldo not fixing his socks and his hair after an effort when you see that he senses he needs to run and trace the ball YOU KNOW SOMETHING IS WRONG.

Sorry guys but Ronaldo was faultless last night.

  28. wazza says:

Ron needs rest so do we fans after a gruelling season. if he starts again his
‘god only knows’ statements he should be off but then it all depends on Fergie like last season. we the fans can’t do anything about it.

  29. Alejandra says:

Give him a break. He is young and emotions played the better part of him in those interviews. He is looking for someone to blame. It is natural that he might feel that the tactics were wrong or that the whole team underperformed. Hurt did the talking.

As he said, he needs to rest and put his ideas in order.

Anyway, if United would have won, we might find the same attitude: “I have won everything for ManUtd, now I need new challenges”.

I sense he does not love United as other players do. That is why every summer we hear his doubts.

Maybe ManUtd should cash on him with a buy back clause (like Rossi?). I think Madrid are in a little turmoil with nothing certain: president, team, coach. It is a big risk and the pastures always look greener on the other side.

  30. costas says:

@Alejandra: He is now 24 years old.I am a bit older than that and i can control my emotions better.I have said this a lot today.I don’t know if he really wants to go to Real. What i do know,is that he loves the spotlight and the attention.I have followed United for 15 years.I have never seen a single player come out and blame the manager after a bad result.I think that he was in control of his comments because he was looking to create a fuss about him.He knows that now Messi is the player everyone is talking about and it bothers him.Yesterday he was great. Our best player. But it was because he knew that winning the Ch.League would qualify him as the best player in the world. As far as him leaving. He did the interview to himself and he brought the subject up saying that he would stay. Now he says that he doesn’t know.I think he wants to keep the speculation running.I hope Fergie puts a stop to it now, whatever that could mean for Ronaldo.

  31. Red-Manc says:

If he wants to do this for the rest of the summer he can well and truly FUCK OFF! spoilt twat, we win the league he says “i want to stay this is my home” just before the final he says “i want to stay this is my home” and we lose and now he’s not sure or doesnt want to talk about it? he’s a media circus freak and he’s fucked us about last summer he’s not doing it again.

    VIVA UNITED!

  32. kev says:

it doesn’t matter we won’t allow him leave unless.
Let him have another unhappy season aslong as we win things
who cares about da players happiness lol

  33. James says:

i don’t begrudge him a move to Madrid, it’s just that this constant talk of ‘who knows my future’ is getting annoying. I would prefer him to stay – he is a world class talent who can change a game in an instant, but if we can cash in and bring in two other world class players i will be happy.

We still have the squad to go on to win another champions league trophy, but we will only be second favourites next year, which suits me fine.

  34. TheRedBaron says:

Switch ronaldo for Van Der Vaart or Sneijder plus a ton of cash. Then buy Ribery. Overhaul.

  35. James says:

im not sure about that though, are Van Der Vaart and Sneijder good enough? We already have a lot of ‘good but not great players’.

  36. john ferry says:

Ronaldo will never grow up. His mindset and entire psychological make up has been arrested. He will always be a princess even when he is in his 40′s or 50′s.

  37. Bosnian fan says:

he never really pledged his future with man utd like rooney did.bayern said that man u made an enquiry to buy ribery….and why is that?because they are not sure will he(ronaldo)stay or not!!!!there is no player who is bigger than a club and I am sick and tired over constant speculation will he stay or not and ronaldo could end those speculations but he never did……sell him I am sure fergie will find adequate replacement.as for ronaldo he will fade in madrid as many stars previously did.I am sure and he will regret for leaving man u!!!!

  38. the devil says:

calm down everybody, people seem to forget that its the press that asks him this questions, pls can someone explain why after losing a major cup final, the first question asked is if he will stay at utd, what did u guys expect?

  39. Androo says:

If he knows best he’ll stay. COME ON YOU REDS! Next season!

  40. Balaji says:

Just a wee bit of humility is what we look for Ronnie. It was good to see him signalling to his teammates to stay calm after the first goal but questioning the tactics and not rallying around the team is not acceptable. He tried hard in the latter stages but i doubt if it was for a team cause, rather it seemed to have been for personal glory. Knowing him, he would have never liked Messi to take centre stage. So, if you want to leave Ron, say so and get lost!

  41. Elijah says:

I think this is taking out of context, of course after losing the CL final some reporter is going to ask him about his United future, because its always a controversy. This was the 66th game of the season for our squad, they’re all tired, and the season is over now they have WC qualifiers to play, and some idiot reporter wants to bring up the stupid transfer questions. But no mentions that he also has this to say:

“It’s really hard to retain this trophy but I still believe Manchester has the chance to win more in the next seasons.”

And I honestly believe that he wants to be at Manchester to win those trophies knowing how competitive he is.

It was sad to watch last night because I can’t remember us playing such an unimaginative style. Ronaldo seemed to be the only one hungry and interested. I wanted Rooney to stomp all over Puyol down that left side, he didnt do anything at all last night. Anderson was another I was hoping to have an imposing game, didnt happen, Park equally horrible. Then after they scored, everything was either pass it backwards and let rio and vidic boom it over their defence, horrible sight. Sad to watch your team play completely unlike themselves on the world’s biggest stage.

    Viva United

  42. godpye says:

The fact that he continues to drives us all crazy at times like this says to me that we should let him go, for our collective sanity.
Now (according to the press) he’s criticizing SAF’s tactics – which actually did suck last night – but it’s not for him to say this, he should keep his mouth shut.
I’m old enough to remember George Best, when he started messing around with the drink, the girls and the press. He would fail to turn up for training, he would argue with team mates on the pitch, during a game.
He frustrated everyone and it was time for him to go.
Just like Fergie and Ronaldo, Busby and Best had a father/son relationship but Sir Matt had eventually had enough of him, saying ‘no one player is more important than Manchester United’.
I thought ‘Yes but it’s Georgie Best for God’s sake – he’s so good that the rule doesn’t apply to him.
In the end Best was fired and Manchester United rolled on without him.
The same will / should happen with Ronaldo.
The big difference here is that we’ll get lots of money for him – so lets be done with him, keep Tevez and get Benzema or someone else fab with the Ronaldo money.
We’ll all feel better about it as soon as the season starts – trust me, I’ve been there.

  43. Nemanja says:

I watch the bundesliga every week and Ribery never fails to impress. And gettin him wouldn’t be Ronnie’s replacement. If we get Ribery on the left then Rooney can be in the number 10 role which is all that needs to happen for Rooney to be able to show how good he is. He’s the best player in the world and has been since the start of the 05/06 season.

    The Unvelievable Wayne Rooney

  44. ozzmufc says:

i think we need more dedicated players like rooney, ferdinand and giggs.
ronaldo needs to sort himself out, he needs to know that if he goes to madrid, he wont win anything.

  45. John says:

If he is the best player in the world he has to prove it rooney tat is

  46. Roman says:

    SELL HIM!!!! and NANI!!!

  47. Gudjohnsen says:

If Ronaldo truly wanted some peace and quiet like some claim, he wouldn’t have said “I don’t know” regarding his future. If he wanted peace and quiet leaving for his summer vacation he should have said “I’m staying”. But then again, if he suddenly wants to leave now after all the declarations about United being his home before the big match then that’s that. Then he should ask Fergie for a transfer, not jerk us around like this in the press.

  48. Malteser says:

I’m not sure about his comments.Media tends to change quotations.
But if its true.No problem.I’M fed up with this every summer.
With his money we can buy Kaka and Ribery.

MANCHESTER UNITED is the club not Ronaldo.

  49. kapti14 says:

ronaldo said that coz he knows everyone wants him to say that. When will people understand that he said he is going to stay? i really think he loves united.

  50. perkythered says:

    nemenja: correct!
Ronaldo played in the position suited to flatter him, and though he was our best individual performer on the night, he was not actually the best player for the teaqm(that was VDS!) whereas rooney – and berbatov – had to play in positions to accommodate Ronaldo, and therefore had no favours.
Ronaldo is a great player, but if he doesn’t want to play at OT, please just go.
As for Tevez, well he didn’t do anything either – except try really hard, and I think
    a) that’s not enough for £24 million (in addition to the £10m already paid), and
    b) he just doesn’t want to be a squad player – which is all he will ever be so long as Rooney stays at OT (please god, for a long long time).

All the media fluff about ronaldo and messi was a huge diversion that suited barca more than us. I my opinion the best players for the two teams are rooney and iniesta: alas rooney’s assets weren’t maximised – because he was out of his best position, and also because we were second best in midfield.
As to why that was, well over to you…..

  51. Red_Ruth says:

“You lose games because you make bad mistakes and this is what happened [on Wednesday]. We didn’t play well, we didn’t play compact. “

Despite the disappointment of losing in Rome, Ronaldo is confident United fans will see more European silverware at Old Trafford in the coming years.

“It’s really hard to retain this trophy but I still believe Manchester has the chance to win more in the next seasons.”

_ Ronaldo saying some slightly more positive things

  52. rooney_thebestest says:

@nemanja…I definitely think we should build our team around Rooney….After all the lad is staying at Old Trafford for life.It will also provide us with long term solution in how our team plays instead of everything revolving around Ronaldo. As for Ribery he is very good but woudnt he pose the same problem that Ronnie does now and that is not doing his defensive duties properly?

  53. rooney_thebestest says:

Here’s what I posted in the other thread:
    rooney_thebestest Said,
    May 28th, 2009 @20:15

I hope next season we play Rooney where he truly belongs.I know somewhere deep inside us everyone has a feeling that he has not become the player he should have. The Rooney of 2004 was capable of ripping through defences on his own.The Rooney of 2009 can only unlock through his passing and bringing others into play.Even though its a nice trait to have but it certainly seems his game has been dented from that time.He no longer looks to take on defenders anymore.Maybe occasionally he does it but even then its not as threatening as it used to be.He seemed to score spectacular goals during those days…long rangers…goals from outside the edge of the box….goals where he took on 3 or 4 players and stormed past them…..where has it all gone? When was the last time he looked in that sort of a menacing form?I want people to talk about Wayne in the same breath as the Messi’s and the Ronaldo’s …and they did once upon a time…..I know he contributes a lot to the team but dont we wish we had the old Rooney back…the one we spent 30 million pounds on….the one who was supposed to be the white Pele.I think Sir Alex needs to realize that Ronaldo is going to leave us one day and if we keep sacrificing Rooney’s natural talent and make him do the donkey work all the time we will destroy whats already left of him.He is still the heart and soul of the team but for fucks sake he needs to rediscover that spark which would make him a nightmare for defences across the world.I hate it …absolutely loath it when the bindippers say Torres is the best striker in the world because Rooney was supposed to be that guy.All we come up with in response to that is …look how hard his works…look at his commitment…blah blah..Everything is correct about that but for the fact that he is actually supposed to be scoring goals…lots and lots of them…He is supposed to be taking defenders on when he is anywhere near the box and shoot the crap out of the ball….he needs to nutmeg and twist em in knots before they realise what is happening…Sadly all we get when he is in the box is a driven cross or a floating ball looking for someone….I am frustrated but If I question Sir Alex then I am going to be castigated .
And I fear the same thing is happening with Anderson. He used to tear apart the defences when he was with Gremio,Porto ,with the brazillian under 17 team…he used to score goals…terrific goals…but look at him now.I admit the premier league is tough compared to the above mentioned leagues but surely he was born to be an attacking midfielder..He was heralded as the next Ronaldinho…but look where he is now with regards to his attacking play.I do not understand why are we switching players out of their best positions….Why buy an attacking midfielder if you want him to do a defensive role..Why why why?
All this coming after a defeat makes it look like a load of crap but these are the times when we should reflect on what has happened .

  54. kapti14 says:

we lost this champions league out of respect for newcastle’s relegation and rafael benitez’s sorrow at us spending so much money. thats it respect for newcastle anf liverpool and its A FACHT.

  55. Quad says:

say what you want but last night, Ronaldo did everything that was asked of him, even the tracking back that he apparently never does. Funny how 90 mins can change everything. Before this we were so confident of him staying it wasnt even up for discussion….now we’re talking like he is on the next flight to Madrid

  56. kapti14 says:

anyone else thinks that forwards seem to target vidic to run at?torres, etoo, rodallega, agbonlahor at villa park

  57. costas says:

@kapti14: Interesting point.I believe that Nemanja is not at his best with strikers who are good dribblers of the ball.Eto is an example.Wes Brown is very good in that department and if i recall,it was him that played both legs against Barca last year.Vidic is better off against physical strikers. But it’s not Vidic’s fault. He had no cover.I know that Eto on the right confused us,but Evra should have been closer.Rio should have been closer too.In the end it was Carrick trying to help out.The second goal was an even bigger mess.Vidic is out of the box,Rio doesn’t jump and O’Shea sees Messi but doesn’t follow. It’s a true shame for this United team that made defensive records in the league to be the culprit of their downfall like this.

  58. KVN says:

Ronaldo Ronaldo Ronaldo Ronaldo he was the only player aside from VDS that played to a decent standard. Rooney was wasted over the right and left. i could go on. I think Ronaldo will stay, but SAF needs to re-jig midfield.
there are two was to play against teams like Barcelona who keep the ball for long periods. the first is to do what Chelsea did to them over the two legs. look how they got frustrated at camp nou when things weren’t going their way. i thought Anderson didn’t use his brain and left it on the coach on the way to the stadium. I could go on. but SAF needs to do a lot of work over the summer.
the 2nd is to try and match them. and 99% of the time we will be beaten.
no team is as good at keeping the ball than Barca. no team. but what united do have, is that when we do have the ball we can do great things. remember how we played against Inter the 1st leg? or how we played against Arsenal over both legs? or even away to Porto?
we have learnt, but last night we forgot what got us there.

    Tactics in Europe

the team and SAF and his coaches really have to understand what the game plan is. because it just seemed the team – especially the midfield didn’t know what they were doing. Carrick trying to hit the killer pass when we were still 1-0 down. what was needed was composure and a regrouping. Giggs has so much experience in Europe that he of all people should have said to the lads after the 1st goal, there’s 80 mins left. we can come back, just stay focused and keep your discipline because we will create chances.

teach Anderson tactical discipline in europe. he really has to learn what he needs to do in a game and impose himself. he has the qualities but needs brains.
Nani has to step up and show boat when we’re 4 or 5 nil up with less than 10 mins to go and only after he’s scored 2 or goals and made assists.

    Keep key players
if Ben Foster is fit he need to be no 1 goalkeeper.
promote Possebon & gibson to 1st team
    Ronaldo
    Vidic
    Acquire players

Mikel Arteta – excellent ball keeping central midfield player
Ribery – works hard and can create attacks from the left

    Retire players

G Nev – thank you but Wes Brown is back and Rafael will be his cover.
Scholes – thanks again but every time you play a yellow card appears from the refs pocket and the game has passed you by.
VDS – thanks again, but be our back up goalkeeper and pass on your knowledge and experience onto Foster.

i don’t agree that we should sell Ronaldo – not next season anyway. he has 3 years left on his contract and we should at least keep him for the 09/10 season.
this team really missed Hargreaves and Fletcher – two intelligent footballers who can carry out tactics and understand the game and how it can change “in-game”.

SAF also needs to play Rooney where he’ll hurt the opposition and not where he will prevent the opposition from hurting us. that’s not to say he shouldn’t track back or help out his defense. but the best defense is offense. he can occupy so many defenders and midfield players with his skill, aggression, intelligent play and goal threat that he is indirectly helping the defense. look at how Capello uses him with England he has thrived under him.

it doesn’t mean we go back to 442 system as we often been over-run by opposition in midfield.

there are times when we do need to play that way and other times when 433 is more appropriate and effective.

SAF needs to realize that we have 2 world class players in CR7 and Rooney. we have a number of quality players in Tevez and Dimitar, Carrick and Fletcher, Hargreaves. we need to build a team around those two that will get the maximum out of them. the others have to realise that the system SAF employs is geared towards supporting those two.

there’s a lot of media hysteria and fans are naturally disappointed with out teams performance. we’ve had a good season, but it could have been a great one. with a few adjustments we can get to the UCL final in Madrid next year, but this time we’ll be bringing the trophy home and showing the world why we are such a great team.

  59. steamdigit says:

enough is enough from ronaldo – although i really like him and his skills and all. he is still not one player that i truly love. lets be honest, all true “red” man utd fans will be able to tell if we are honest – this boy isnt sold on us yet! he sings the right tune and all, but he still hasnt shown that he will die for the cause! at manutd we seldom suffer such fools.

no disrespect to him and the gaffer – yes, he is brilliant and yes, he is one of the greats at the moment, but we have never been afraid to cut anyone off if they did not belong look at RVN and Becks. they were really instrumental then, and we still never allowed them to disrupt how we ran the club.

ronaldo for me has never truly shown his commitment to the team even though we have hung around for him. it is easy to say the right things whenever we are winning, but the words that reveal your true self and character come in the face of defeat and adversity. look at ronaldo’s postgame interview – listen to him, his posture and words. syas it all. offers little to the other teammates, blames the tactics…bah! everything was wrong yes we all know it. but as a part of the team, we need to stand together and be counted together!

if we have to lose, we should lose as one, and stick up for each other and press on together. not feel sorry for ourselves and forget the team!

i repeat – defeat reveals who are made of sterner stuff in character – ronaldo has not shown it for the team. the boy’s all individual. all individual.
i have cut him a lot of slack previously, but this time round everyone can watch and hear him – not read about his words in 2nd hand news or newspaper rumours abt what he says. look at the interview he gave after the match.

if we keep him, we need to ensure he plays for the team and not for himself!

  60. Nemanja says:

    @Rooney- thebestest

Yes absolutely right. The team should be built around Rooney in the middle. Let’s not build around Ronny as he’s only here for maximum 5 years more. Wazza is here for life and should be captain. For the years that Ronny is here, he can play off Rooney, as proven in 06/07 season when it was just them and they were lethal.

As for Ribery he posseses every quality a winger needs and would want to possess. As for not tracking back. He does his bit but maybe not enough. He is a very hard worker though and is a team player. Even as far as 35 mill would be a reasonable amount to pay.

  61. Jake says:

I think Ronaldo will stay, he’s a muppet but he is our most effective player…If we are honest with ourselves, with some due hindsight last night was coming..We have had a handful of great performances this year and I still don’t think Chelsea was one of them, just that everything went in..We played well Inter away, first half of Porto away and both Arsenal games, all when Ronaldo was most interested. Last night he tried again but he had no support and Barca aren’t Inter, Porto or Arsenal. Fergie got carried away with the Arsenal away game and couldn’t see the wood for the trees. I thought Berbatov was class when he came on and added some much needed composure at the top of the pitch and allowed us to retain the ball a bit better but it was too little too late..Fergie seemed to have subconsciously bowed to the moronic United fans who chant Tevez’s name and slate Berbatov by moving him down the pecking order but it was a mistake, Berbatov works back very effectively and would have been a constant outlet up front for our shaky midfield..Rooney has to be a striker or Thierry Henry-esque, not a winger as part of what Fergie effectively makes a 4-5-1 formation, Giggs is fine and shouldn’t be phased out as I’ve read elsewhere on this site, he had a bad game but he has been one of the few beacons of quality this season in our team, as for Scholes well I’m not so sure. Anderson has also been in some really good form recently and is only young so shouldn’t be lynched because he couldn’t handle the best midfield in the world. Carrick needs to grow in confidence, dribble more, get forward more, back himself more, as does Rooney..Foster in net next year as much as possible, berba and rooney up front maybe, Ronaldo on the right and whoever else on the left…We’ve also massively missed Hargreaves this season and his verstaility, get him back fit and we’ll be fine. No need for the doom and gloom, and anyway, rather sadistically I wouldn’t mind some barren years because we might shed some of the players and fans who bandwagon along and only support or play for our club because of its success, we have to lose some time.

  62. Jake says:

kvn- I’ve just read your post and you’ve stolen all my thunder, well said.

  63. Nemanja says:

aahh. Arteta. Now he would be a good signing. Intelligence, composure, keeps the ball and has a great eye for goal. We could wait til Moyes takes over and he could bring Arteta with him. And Jagielka.

  64. pipmc05 says:

    can’t say i haven’t been sayin this all season . . . i hope he goes

  65. keanesmagichat says:

fuck off ya hairy portugese cunt, cash in on the prick…
mourinho was right uneducated prick, has no concept of loyalty….
let the fucker go, fergie do the right thing for the club and let him go… DIE RONALDO

  66. costas says:

Jake pretty thunderous post from yourself too.Well said.It did seem that Berbatov became third choice out of nowhere. And in fairness,he might have been useful if he had started the final.Of course he won’t track back a lot,but who in that Barca team was going to get the ball away from him?We had to fight fire with fire.Would you put Ronaldo in the category of players who love the club for the trophies?I would. The last 3 years have been great.I don’t want us to lose the league title, but we have become complacent.Look at Evra’s comments all week.Fans yesterday were saying “at least we won the title”.No LIverpool or Chelsea fan would talk like that after clinching the title because they are starved.Right now we are stuffed with trophies and success and something has to bring all of us down to earth.Hoepfully getting outclassed by Barca will do that.

  67. keanesmagichat says:

he is an uneducated scumbag from dirty filthy portugal… let the cunt fuck off…
yes he is a great player but he will fail at madrid, where the top players do not want him…
the premiership is perfect for his style, la liga not so… fuck him im a season ticket holder and i want him gone…
    DIE RONALDO

  68. Quad says:

keanesmagichat. Yeah spoken like a true supporter. what the fuck are you, dipper in disguise, fucking twat

  69. keanesmagichat says:

    DIE RONALDO

  70. keanesmagichat says:

    QUAD,
im a manchester united season ticket holder, no player is bigger than the club… we have put up with this shit for 3 years… let him go.. rebuild around rooney and i will guarentee we will be better for it… fuck the dirty portugese cunt

  71. Quad says:

Season Ticket Holder…well done, so that gives you a right to say shit like that.

  72. keanesmagichat says:

every summer is the same… who does he think he is? are united slaves to this classless cunt? NO! we are manchester united, let him go… thanks but as a club we should not tolerate this disloyalty./.. the plastics who write on here do not know what there talking about

  73. keanesmagichat says:

ya it does ya cunt, why should aplayer think they are bigger than united?

  74. keanesmagichat says:

    fuckin plastic

  75. Nemanja says:

    @keanesmagichat

What the fuck are you on you fuckin pleb. Some dipper or rentboy. Go die hhhmmmm. He’ll be here next few years. We know. He knows it. Look u fool u won’t be saying come this September when he’s already got at least 5 goals. TW@.

  76. KVN says:

    @ jake

i just read yours and we’re on the same wavelength! apart from the barren years bit, just look at arsenal!!!! i’d rather be picking up trophies every year.
    @ Nemanja
Arteta would be less than £10 mil – a bargain buy for a quality player.

i heard on the radio in england, that Barcelona are looking to sign Vidic and pair him with Pique. Gill needs to be firm and turn them down flat

  77. keanesmagichat says:

    @ nemanja
why should manchester unitec be held to ransom by one player? no matter how good he is? the club is bigger than any player

  78. Quad says:

The only one showing disrespect is you

  79. costas says:

The Vidic-Barca thing has been going on for a while now.No chance in hell. The Daily Mail reports that Stoke might offer Scholes the chance to be a player-coach for them. That’s a strange one.

  80. keanesmagichat says:

the plastics on here are so fucking obvious.. ronaldo this and ronaldo that… the real united fans were following the club in the doldrums and i would rather see the club back there than be held to ransom by a slimey portugese cunt

  81. keanesmagichat says:

    @ quad
plastic, your opinion does not matter

  82. Quad says:

My opinion is that you’re a bigger twat than Ronaldo

  83. keanesmagichat says:

real united fans know, not one player is bigger than the club, plastics believe the club started after the premiership…
last night we lost… big deal? you win some you lose some… this team gave us a great season and hats off to them… but what is unforgiveable is this shit from a hairy cunt like ronaldo critising fergies tactics…
nemanja & quad you are plastics and your opinion means fuck all

  84. keanesmagichat says:

    quad
ypur a plastic… ever been to old trafford?

  85. keanesmagichat says:

the plastics are so clear and easy to spot…
    all ronaldo lovers….

  86. Rome_09 says:

Easy children, everyone’s allowed to express their own opinion. “Die Ronaldo ” thats just pathetic. Yeah he’s being bit of an arse, if he wants to go lets just remember all the good times he’s given the club.

  87. keanesmagichat says:

    QUAD nnd NEMANJA
ye are plastic reds… your opinon does not count

  88. KVN says:

    @ keanesmagicha

what are you on you idiot? you call yourself a United fan and your coming out with crap like die ronaldo, scum, and dirty portuguese cunt???
listen, ronaldo has been with us for about 5 years. you telling me he hasn’t shown loyalty? listen, he isn’t a priest or a pastor that has to be morally righteous or holy. he’s a guy from a poor family background, who knows his worth. yes he maybe selfish, self indulgent at times and have an ego bigger than mount everest, but the fact is: when he plays he’s gives 100%. now i’m fed up of people slagging him off and wanting him to go. yes no player is bigger than United. he never will be. but his contribution to this team for this season has been impressive. who else has scored 18 goals in the league for United? where would we be without his goal at Porto – where no English team had won? And before that, his goal against Inter at home? Or the goals that killed Arsenal off at the Emirates? you look at players from spain and portugal even in italy and south america, and you’ll see that they’ll go down easily with minimal contact or try and gain the advantage fair or foul. it’s a cultural thing. sometimes they don’t track back. i’d love CR7 to track back, but i know he wont, but i’m not going to chastise the guy for not doing that, when i know he’ll want to get goals or create them for others.
Ronaldo is driven or motivated by the desire to be the best in the world. the best goal-scorer, the best at everything. he’s not stupid to think that he can do this on his own. when he matures more, he’ll be less self-centered, but i along with a lot of true United supporters would rather have CR7 playing for us than against us. and wondering, why for such a big club don’t we have the FIFA worlds best player?
we may not like everything about him, and yes it may get on our nerves, but if this team wants to dominate and win UCL year after year we will need him as much as he needs us. so get off his back!
    Idiot!

  89. Nemanja says:

I been to Old Trafford of course. No season ticket admittedly. Last game I went was spurs. Oh wait wasn’t that when Ronny the focal point of one of the greatest comebacks. Yeah it was. What a prick. Cheers

  90. keanesmagichat says:

    @namanja
i reiterate your opinion does not matter… you are not a real united fan in most REAL united fans eyes… a daytripper

  91. keanesmagichat says:

    @KVN
plastic, i dont need to say anymore

  92. KVN says:

    @keanesmagichat

you must be a dipper, or a fake united “supporter”. which one? as what you’ve written is pure bullocks. you have nothing constructive to say you fool.

  93. keanesmagichat says:

im a real united fan mate, the type who has been going to old trafford all their life.. from salford… you know where that is?
why should united put up with this for the 3rd summer in a row? is he bigger than our club?
should he get away with critising fergies tactics?

  94. fabio says:

Here is Ronaldo’s interview in Portiguese.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eM5dsvI2_Vc&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2E7cristiano%2Dronaldo7%2Eco%2Ecc%2F7CristianoRonaldo7Home%2Ehtm&feature=player_embedded
I don’t see anything wrong about what he said.
I believe he didn’t really want to talk about the club things right after heavy defeat.
I believe “we’ll see.” means HE IS GOING TO STAY.

  95. TYR says:

    Damn, emotions still running high.

have been really, really depressed today and last night. It’s starting to mildly lift and I’m beginning the slow process of healing. I am still rather frustrated and obsessed about the game last night so please bear with me …I hope this will allow me to reach some kind of catharsis.

Regarding Ronaldo – I lurch between the two polar extremes on this guy. On the one hand I feel serious anger at his constant disrespect to the club and flirting with Madrid. I end up thinking “fuck off then”..

On the other, I think we have a genuinely world class talent who has the potential to get better and be even more devastating. It’s no coincidence that we have him, he scores a bunch of key goals, and suddenly we’re in CL finals for the first time in nearly a decade.

That said, if he keeps this shit up…in the end he will just have to piss off.

    Last night :

I still think he was probably our best player.

The tactics? Well, they looked pretty shit after ten minutes but if we’d got that early goal we looked like getting, I truly believe we’d have gone on to win just like the Emirates game and everyone would hailing the tactical genius of Fergie.

Ultimately, if you’re going to play a defensive containing game to nullify the opposition, then you can’t defend like utter shite as we did to gift them a goal. I always felt that if Barca scored first, they’d win.

Finally, I had bad vibes for a few days before this match. I felt a lot of complacency and arrogance coming from our direction; the fans, the players , the pundits all seemed to think this was simply our chance to saunter in and make history.

With hindsight I would say this:

    - We should have been more attacking. There only weakness if their defending

    - We should have defended better. We looked like the team with the dodgy defence

    - We looked very tired, just like the last time we got spanked in the CL away to AC Milan

    - Fergie got it right with Park in the Chelsea CL final

    - Barca shouldn’t have fucking been there anyway. Should have been Chewsea :)

  96. keanesmagichat says:

    @ FABIO
wll then why didnt he say im going to stay? why be so cryptic?
he believes he is bigger than manchester united thats why…
let him go… he is a great player but sir alex ferguson does not deserve this and the fans dont either… sell him

  97. Rome_09 says:

Looks unlikey Madrid are going to chase him, Perez has said he wants Kaka and Ribery as priorites. Not sure where Ronaldo would fit into that/ how they would ever be able to afford him either.

  98. redrick says:

@keanemagichat- your not keen on ronaldo then, u have yours views, nobody is bigger than utd your right, is it this shit every season bout his future, im sick of it to, im staying with utd fuck off leave me alone, end off, and yes ive been to old trafford to, first match home to derby 1979, slow down a bit.

  99. john says:

we all know it was a bad result but dnt bash the guy totaly

  100. fabio says:

    @keanesmagichat
I know he should bave said “Im staying.” But I think he was really really tired of being asked thousands times about the future even right after the emotional defeat. He didn’t say “I don’t know about my future”.
I think we better calm down.

  101. KVN says:

did you hear him criticize SAF or did you read it somewhere? the media like to make something bigger than it is or twist what people say. you should know better than this.
so because you’re from Salford what near Willows Rd, near the rugby ground? eh?
so what, i’m from london – what the fuck has that got to do with supporting United? you need to look at our players – all over the world, or our coaching staff or the tea lady or the people who work behind the bars in the quadrants or the cleaners? United have fans all over the world if you didn’t realize. football is a global sport now, United are globally recognized club with supporters groups all over the world. fans from south korea, Brazil, africa, china, even the usa.

i’ve already told you no player is bigger than the club. our best players will always attract other clubs. United have tapped up players before. but yes, not like RM. you only have to look at how we got RVN and Owen Hargeraves, even Jaap Stam in his booked mentioned it.

if your a real fan, don’t get worked up on what he’s say’s or doesn’t say. there’s no point. you’re not his agent or close adviser. you have no contact with him directly do you? of course not. so you can’t influence his decision. only SAF, David Gill and those that are close to him and those he respect can.

3 summers in a row? if CR7 didn’t score all those goals and create those assists we’d be nowhere. we wouldn’t be celebrating the fact we’ve got 18 titles now and 3 UCL PLUS other trophies. CR7 is integral to our team and at this moment him and Rooney are key players.

I think SAF is big enough to tell CR7 what to do and what not to do when it comes to team tactics. and be sure SAF has noted your concern about CR7s “comments”.

if he decides to leave then that’s cool, because he’ll realize that he’s made a big mistake. if he stays then of course most true fans will be happy and so will his team mates.

  102. kapti14 says:

i dont see man utd buyin anyone apart from benzema.if not benzema sir alex will go for quagliarella. to be honest if fletch or harg played and neutralised xaviesta then no talk of midfield.

  103. kapti14 says:

    really strange final yesterday:

iniesta and henry doubts: both play super well

ferdinand doubt: seemed unfit and choked

alves and abidal out with marquez: barca defence not tested and got through game easily

fletcher and hargreaves out: man utd midfield over run

so verdict: were we as well prepared and drilled tactically? our mid. seemed to be marking no one most of the time.

    what do you think?

  104. Jorgen says:

Everybody, “Keanesmagichat” is probably the same guy that went under the name of “Tinseltony” in a previous thread here… This guy/these guys are just coming on here talking S**T!

  105. KVN says:

    @kapti14

    are midfield bench

scholes – can’t play for 90mins anymore, has lost his drive. he now looks old football-wise. his brain is sharp but the legs won’t take him there.

nani – do we have to go there? can’t be trusted at the mo, great potential he needs to believe in his ability and start producing what we know he can do on the pitch consistently.

    rafael – rb cover
    Kuszczak – gk cover
    tevez
    berbatov
    evans – defender cover

the reality is that we didn’t haven’t quality midfield players who could execute SAFs plan. the options he had on the bench for midfield was limited to scholes and nani.

having carrick, giggs and anderson – especially giggs you’d think they could and should know what to do to nullify iniesta and xavi and take control of midfield. but they didn’t..
this is where we lost the game.

  106. KVN says:

… and it’s the area where if we have hargreaves and fletcher will allow us to control the game better. one defeat is not the end of the world. i suppose it’s the manner of the defeat that hurts rather than the defeat itself. but one thing is sure, SAF will know what needs to be done and will not panic. this season we haven’t played the best football comparing it to last season, so the fact that we still won the prem and beat a strong dippers and chelski and arsenal says a lot. we will come back stronger and better.

  107. kapti14 says:

i still think there is something to come from nani. remember he has not got the same amount of games as little cristiano got when he first came.i say lets give luis nani another 2 seasons to express himself.

  108. KVN says:

i agree. Nani has potential, and i feel it would be best if he had a run of games to bed into the United way. he has to be given a fair chance.

  109. Dave Mack says:

Kingsmajichat, I normally skip anything you post but I accidently read one of your foul mouthed tirades in which you used the words “uneducated Portugese” in connection with Ronaldo. Then “Die Ronaldo”.

I know you have the intelligence of a 7 year old and suffer from envy syndrome to a degree that manifests in uncontrolable rage and I also appreciate that you incapable of undertstanding a word I’ve said so far so let me make it simple for a moroon like you.

Your the sort of “supporter” this great club can do with out. Go and get yourself some help before you do yourself or anyone else more harm. And btw, no one has the slightest interests in your posts no matter what said of a debate you take.

  110. Adopted Scouser 10 says:

Where is King Eric and Miss Little.
@ keanesmagichat, leave SAF to do his bit,he knows best.My only anger is that our unbeaten run ended on the wrong night but i BELIEVE that we will bounce back.In SAF, we trust.

  111. Ted Pere Challi says:

For the way he has played throughout the season (How many times can he be said to have played his heart out?) sell him! The champions have become Chimpions. Man U’s C team would have done better. Tevey can go too, and the rest of the team except EVS! Time to rebuild the team SAF.

  112. Alex Craig says:

Fact is they ask these stupid questions straight after one of the worse defeats you can have so I dont blame him for saying what he said because he was probably well fucked off and to get the same question time and time again is very irritating.

I love to watch Ronaldo in the red shirt so if he wants to stay then amazing lets enjoy him and forget what the papers say because its 99.9% bullshit so why worry and if he wants to go then get rid of him.

    Long live Sir Alex

  113. Paul the red says:

It is going to be another summer of “i’m Off”
it is already on the back of the sun today..
starting not to care what he does

  114. theboogeyman says:

@keanesmagichat:You were saying that Quad’s and Nemanja’s opinions do not count? And yours does? So,basically, what you are trying to say is that if they say something,it does not matter, while if you do the same,it counts??Just so you know, nobody’s opinion on here counts(unless SAF is on RoM).Or when you say something, does the club do it?I didn’t think so….

  115. costas says:

This is another Ronaldo quote that has made the healdines in the last 24 hours:

    http://www.sport.co.uk/news/Football/20568/Ronaldo_Ferguson_did_not_tell_me_anything.aspx

I don’t know if we can still blame it on his disappointment or not(as if he is the only player that was disappointed),but it is becoming very tiresome. You want to leave?Be a man about it.Ferguson is your second father as you say? Then don’t stab him in the back like this. It’s very simple. The problem now is that if Real are not interested anymore, then we are stuck with him and this kind of attitude.

  116. fabio says:

Apparently fabricated by the SUN. I watched almost all of Ronaldo’s
interviews, but he did NOT say like ” Ferguson did not tell me anything.” “I didn’t realise I was to play as a striker”. How could he play without knowing tactics!

  117. theboogeyman says:

@costas:It’s not possible that he didn’t know he was to play up front.I’m sure it’s made up,like fabio said.

  118. realred says:

I reckon we sell Ron to Madrid, get Snejder + cash.

Love to sell Berbatov, bring in Benzema.

We need true pace from one of our strikers and at the moment that just isnt the case.

Think Tevez wont stop complaining bout not startin every game so should also leave….althouth the thought of him @ liverpool makes me feel sick.
    Makes them significantly improved team.

Dnt be surprised if we dnt go on a spending spree, kinda get the feelin Fergie rates our youngsters @ the club.

Midfield def doesnt look complete to me, looks complicated actaully.

  119. Rome_09 says:

Seem’s pretty odd, that Ronnie would say this totally made up buy the scum im sure. Carlito on the otherhand im not too sure. All he has done for the past month and shout his mouth off. He had a whole half to make an ompact on the game, and decided to go missing.

  120. costas says:

I don’t know anymore guys.I think that we have to put the health of the club over trophies on this.If we keep Ronaldo, will he chech his ego out of the door?Because he acts like he is bigger than the club and at some point this will cause a bust up in the locker room.

@Rome_09: Ever thought about making it Madrid_10 mate?We will be there!

  121. Quinton_Fortune says:

About him causing bust up’s im not too sure. On the pitch he seems hugely frustrated sometimes, and as we’ve seen post match he’s normally a bit sensitive and “apparently” talks crap. However, from everything else iv seen of Ronaldo off the pitch he does seem like a pretty good guy. Always having a joke with the players, smile on his face during traing bit of banter ect. He’s basically just a very bad loser…..which is no bad thing . Back next season BETTER AND STRONGER

  122. Wakey says:

The problem is no matter what he says the press will find a way to make it a “I’m off to Real” story. When he has said “I’m staying” some of the media have been reporting he has indicated he is off. So whatever he says he is painted as the bad guy in all this. Like everyone I think he is annoyed at the constant questions about it, as we saw in his Sky Sports Interview where he was mocking the daft questions he keeps getting asked.

The media (and no doubt Real are helping) are just trying to unsettle him to get something to write about. Even the quote given is suspect as others have posted here that its a weak translation (I have also personally checked with a couple of people and they too conclude that its an iffy translation)

When should just ignore all stories on Ronaldo and Real unless its something he says in English

On his questioning of tactics, I don’t think its as clear cut as Tevez’s one.
From the whole quote I’m assuming he was asked “What went wrong?” and he is just saying the players didn’t turn up and the tactics didn’t work which is just being honest about what went wrong. He doesn’t really seem to question Fergies decision to play the tactics just that on the night it didn’t work

Tevez on the other hand seems to have been asked about not starting the game. And he has decided to use that to openly attack the tactics and Fergie for not picking him.

  123. trevor says:

The strange thing that keeps popping up is that ronaldo always says “with regards to the future we will see!”

He has said he is happy at united, and wants to stay here!

Id really love him to come out every time and say! I love it here, i will be hear next season every time! The fact he starts this “we will see” he only fuels the fire!

If he wants to stay then we keep him, if not then we pack his bags and look for replacements.

There is no one player bigger than United! Players come players go! He will be a big loss but life would go on!

  124. tony montana says:

Lol This is funny! Ronaldo says 3 words and the papers print it on the back of their pages that hes ready to leave. Reasons why Ronaldo would leave to Real Madrid. 1.) More Money 2.) Weather 3.) Language is slightly similar 4.) Closer to Portugal so he would feel more at home 4.) A club he supported since young age 5.) Better possibility with women 6.) Easy football 7.) Add all that up equals more fame.

But if you do see all of that, there is still one thing missing. Real Madrid are CRAP!!! They havn’t gone far in the champions league for a while now! I don’t think the World Best Player of the Year is going to move to a lower club. Real Madrid might have money, but which top player wants to go there? Possibiliy top players already at clubs like Lyon (Benzema) or Bayern (Ribery) but even those clubs have done better than Real Madrid in the champions league the past years, well i should only say Lyon. Unless Real Madrid buy top players, i.e. Kaka, Ribery, Benzema etc, then thats the only way i can see Ronaldo leaving otherwise he’s not leaving. He has more of a chance winning the UCL at United again next season.

His heart is not at United because he never had a heart for United. As a kid, he probably never imagined playing in Manchester. He has reached all his goals with a club, but i guess he wants a new challange while he is young. People go through life stages you know, especially at age of 24. Peak of your life when you are fresh and ready for adventurous new exciting prospects. Hence, sometimes he says i loveee United, sometimes he says i dont know. Well it was the heat of the moment when he said it so dont worry. If he wants to leave, let him leave. Get in a lot of money and cash it on some Young Brazilians, hopefully Douglas Costa, Mata from valencia etc.

I recon about 90% of real United fans are bored shitless with the hype surrounding Mr Ronaldo, c’mon it cant have a positive effect on the changing room. (Surely thats whats matters)?

I really could not care if he stays or goes now as I didnt last season. We have seen it all before ffs..

He has stated in the past that he wants to be a United legend…Never I’m afraid, you shat in your own shoes there, that option is closed to him EVER…I’m not a Ronaldo hater, quite the opposite, whilst he puts the ball in the onion bag for us, its better than for some other team but i’m afraid his attitude will NEVER put him in the Best, Charlton, Law, Robson, Cantona, Neville, Giggs, Scholes etc…bracket who all were UNITED.

Stay or go Ronnie…..You decide and decide soon cus were all sick to f*ck of the circus pal…cheers

    UNITED

n0bber: I am not bored or even pissed off with the “hype” or “ego” surrounding Ronaldo. He’s a fantastic talent, albeit a luxury playerho doesn’t help the team defend from the front. UTD would be less fun to watch without him – whether a new, revised team would do as well without him is another question that I am not choosing to contemplate until it is necessary to do so.

Other great players have come and gone, SAF has kept the team rolling on and I don’t doubt that he would do so in the event that CR leaves. But I’m of the belief that he’s not going anywhere, anytime soon. TheVirus have their annual shopping list – he’s behind Ribery and Kaka and you shouldn’t believe the noises coming from Madrid. It’s mostly bullshit – and bullshit baffles brains.

Whatever. Me want Ribery!!! *spoiled child tantrums*
