We all know the reason he's not smiling isn't because he isn't happy but because of his happy, but seriously did you expect the press to print that?? I mean: Ronaldo unhappy at Man United, because of form won't sell as much papers as: Ronaldo unhappy at Man United because his heart is set at Madrid.

Ronnie knows we have lost some faith in him.

When he is back to the standard we expect, the goals are flying in AND when he hears his name, then will see a more happier celebration...

My thoughts anyway

I agree with Spencer. Personally, I think the magnitude of celebration has something to do with one's involvement in the build up. If I have a simple tap-in finish because someone else did all the work, and squared to me wide open, then it would be embarrassing to go totally nuts - the other person did the work, I simply did the final step. If, on the other hand, I slalom 4 people and roof the shot, then I might well lose my head.

The flip side of that is, as Spencer said, his backheel assist. He was the build-up/creator there and loved what he had done.

His nonchalance may be more of the fact that Roo's final ball freed him for a relatively clinical finish. In other words, he may be acknowledging the contributions of others!

(Possible counterpoint is that he often looks proud, but sheepish when he nails a free kick, as in, "maybe I'm too good.")

A bit of non-issue, I say, as long as he's scoring for us though.

I think he and Berba are involved in a secret competition for the coolest and most nonchalant goal celebration. Rooney is clearly out of it!
On a more serious note, Ron saying these things ("I'm at the right club") is something very positive.

well said Scott

I think whether Ronaldo is here next season depends on what happens this season.

should we not win the double again, I honestly think he will stay another season but anyway lets not get in to that.

What annoys me the most is the song and dance the media have made about this. People forget Ronaldo grinning like a loon when he set up Rooney's goal with a beautiful backheel against Bolton . The media are ignoring the training pictures which came out yesterday of Ronaldo smiling and joking and looking happy and getting on well with his teammates.

The media are ignoring the Patrice Evra interview which came out yesterday of him saying he was very close to Ronnie of the pitch and how he liked being around him. The media are ignoring SAF saying Ronaldo was very, very tired in Saturday's game and yet still worked very hard. If Ronaldo was unhappy and not playing with his heart in it, SAF would drop him, make no mistake about that. Just look at what happened to Wes Brown after one mistake! So the fact Ronaldo hasn't says it all and the fact that SAF apparently rolled his eyes when asked about Ronaldo's celebrations, laughed and said 'yeah yeah I read that usual stuff. I am not even going to bother replying to it' which again says it all.

The reason why I think Ronaldo isn't smiling is because he allegedly said after the match against Albania, that he felt fit and good but not playing anywhere near his best and wouldn't be happy with himself until he did which fits in to last season for Portugal. He played two games one on the Saturday and one on the wednesday, scored in both and Portugal won both and didn't smile when celebrate. Asked why, his response was 'I didn't play well enough did I'. If anyone remembers a match against Southampton in December 2004, exactly the same celebration which he later revealed as he had many chances to score and didn't.

Nobody made a big deal about Giggsy doing similiar celebrations in the early 90s or Henry doing the same celebration or even Berbatov doing exactly the same celebration against Aaalborg which he later revealed as having plenty of chances but couldn't score so was angry with himself. Now, that could be the same with Ronaldo. He could be angry that he missed chances against Aalborg and Blackburn and it took him a while, by his standards, to get his third goal.

If this was next month, with Ronaldo playing at the top of his game and he just scored the winner at the Emirates against Arsenal with a free kick, I would be worried.....but it isn't.

Bryan Robson is right on the matter. When asked on the subject, he said it was a nothing subject, said Ronnie scores so many goals, its just another one and that when he gets his 100th for us, which is just 5 of, you will defintely see one then. He also said the media make a song and dance about everything. They seem more interested in Ronaldo's celebrations than Fabregas hinting he would leave if Arsenal won nothing.
