Rooney: After Missing Out On San Siro I’ll Be Doubly Determined Tonight

Wayne Rooney played a cameo role in our 0-0 draw at the San Siro, still recovering from his hamstring injury at the time.

He has been on a great goalscoring run at the moment and is desperate to get on the field tonight. If there’s anyone who has the determination and passion to drag us through tonight, as well as the ability, it’s Rooney, and I’m all the more confident over tonight’s game knowing he will be on the park.

When asked if missing out on the first leg in the San Siro will make him more determined to impress tonight, Rooney confessed he was itching to get on.

“Of course,” Rooney replied. “Whenever you’re sitting on the bench you want to come on and get involved. I didn’t get too long in Milan but I was impressed with the way the team played without me so I can’t really complain too much! Hopefully I’ll play tonight and by the time that game comes around we’ll have watched the video of the first leg and identified a few weaknesses of theirs that we can exploit. So we’ll set about trying to do that and unsettle them.”

Rooney has had his best ever goals per starts ratio this season.I think he is getting the hang of the centre forward position. And personally i want him unleashed on Inter! He has done brilliantly against Italian opposition.

    rooney 2-1

i want rooney in from the start, im really not sure if i want berb alongside him though, we need a performance like tevez against barca semi last year. hassling from the start, i just cant see berb putting the work in….

I’m torn. I want Tevez the terrier for his energy and drive, but I also want Berba’s cool control, his ability to find space and time and ability to deliver the killer ball under pressure. Possession play in front of Inter’s defence will be crucial, and that’s where Berba probably tips it , although I thought Tev and Wazza were fantasic together at Fulham. Best to leave it to the Gaffer…

I think it’s a different game to Barca last season, they carried more of an attacking threat than Inter do so we needed Tevez working his ass from the front along with whole team scrapping in that game…
I would hope tonight that it will be us taking the game to Inter and applying pressure for them to deal with.. so for me it’s Rooney and Berbatov with tevez an invaluable sustitute tonight.

giles and debrabs, two great arguments that have just added to my confusion for who to pick, so i will put my faith in SAF!

I think Berb’s is a great great player, and I’m proud he’s part of the squad, but… i feel that we should take advantage of the unique qualities of a pairing like Rooney and Tevez. Any defence would struggle with those two bitin’ ankles all day.

Rooney, in form! Tevez, in form! Berbs, in form?!? Not quite in my eyes, and whilst he has made huge improvements, the workrate is still lacking for me. But… it’d be the biggest surpise of the night to not see Berbs start.

Regardless of who is alongside him, it’s motherfuckin’ ROONEYTIME!!

    HOOAH!

  8. debrabs says:

I’m glad we dont have to choose the team! haha… we’ll just turn up and sing our hearts out…….

    BELIEVE

  9. doncobaino says:

    STOP…………………………………………………………………………….ROONEYTIME!

  10. wazza says:

Berba & Wazza will definitely start but maybe Fergie might play CR7 upfront wit Berba so that Wazza can do d defendin on d wings

  11. ellioman says:

    @wassa
I certainly hope that he won’t do that.
I want Rooney as the striker to kill Inter, not to be wasted on the wing ;)
