Wayne Rooney reckons our squad is strong enough as it is and agrees that the manager shouldn’t be in any rush to spend Cristiano Ronaldo’s transfer money.

“Cristiano is the best player in the world and for any team to lose him there are always going to be questions asked of us,” said Rooney. “But if we needed to spend the money then obviously the manager would do that and bring more players in. I don’t think we’ve ever needed too many changes. We’ve won the league for the last few years and were in the Champions League final again and were close. So I don’t think we needed to bring in five or six players. The manager has got it right.”

Rooney also reckons that Dimitar Berbatov has improved a lot since he first signed and that he is prepared to work hard for the team.

“He has been much sharper, he looks like he is more determined,” Rooney added. “He has been tracking back with the full backs and he is definitely working harder and trying to impress. Definitely the quality is there.”
