Rooney: I Could Have Said A Lot Worse Than ’12 Men’!

After Manchester United were robbed by the referee against Chelsea at the weekend, Wayne Rooney walked off the pitch and mouthed “12 men” at the Sky Sports camera. He has since been warned by the FA over his future conduct.

Rooney has today explained his comments, acknowledging he probably shouldn’t have said it, but sure he would have said worse!

“I was disappointed at the end of the game and felt we’d deserved more out of it,” said Rooney. “Your emotions are high at the end. When I look back, I probably shouldn’t have said it, although I maybe could have said worse! I felt we didn’t get the decisions. But that’s the way it goes. There have been games when we have got the decisions when we shouldn’t have. As a team, it was probably the best performance we’ve had this season. It was a good performance but a disappointing result.”

I expected the FA to react more harshly so all in all I am pleased nothing more happened.

    wayne rooney = LEGEND!

    sign up kai fergie lol

  5. Williamkulha says:

This is the first interview about this match when a player said they accept that it goes both ways, wazza starting to show his maturity well.

  6. Bishopville Red says:

Williamkulha: I think it was more a case of Roooooooney’s handlers not being able to come up with another, plausible phrase he could have uttered.

I look forward to seeing how the FA handle this one. I know it’s a different federation, but Drogba got a slap on the wrist for his vulgar antics in Europe.

  7. King Eric says:

Bishopville Red – There will be no action taken , the FA have already confirmed.

Meanwhile lets see how the rentboys perform without Fat Frank for a few weeks. Had to laugh as Citeh got beat by UAE in Hughes’s first game in front of the Sheik. Meanwhile Robinho has been retained by the Brazil squad and Hughes is furious. Oh dear it’s collapsing round his ears.

Rooney is after signing contract and to stay at United for the rest of his career. legend in the making.

  8. Bishopville Red says:

I don’t care what anyone says, I feel bad for Sparky. He signed on for a plucky Premiership side and wound up in the middle of a shitstorm.

No, I’m not from Manchester, and to be truthful, City aren’t my issue. Don’t care to drop points to them, especially with their megabucks approach, but they’re not the one I look for first when the schedule is released.

  12. aig alex is god says:

Every player should be given the right to express his opinion and wayne certainly did not abuse anyone.what he said what spot on and deserved no action to be taken against him.players should be allowed to voice their opinion.why not, otherwise whats the point>rooney certainly wasnt wrong in what he said

  13. RavRed says:

aliasrns5 Said, hahahahahah gr8 comment bloody funny mate !!! I agree guys this has got to a ridiculous stage where a player cannot express his feelins on a ref who basically fooks up a match !! Sure these guys get paid extremely well for what they do week in week out but does that seriously justify the F.A havin the “well just deal with it cos we dont care how much passion, blood, sweat, tears and injury you lot committ to winnin the title aswel as other trophies to elevate your club to the highest echalons of world status !!!” attitude !! I amongst you all am fookin fed up of watchin refs rip the heart out of a match with a ignorant half assed decision usually arisin from unsightedness !!!! Best thing our boys can do is to just go out and play like they did against the chavs and show we can win it without the rub of the green and say FUCK YOU to the F.A and their incompetent system which is wholly evident based on the standard of refereein at present !!! GGMU !

  14. Mclovin7 says:

we were fucking robbed.dirty chelsea bastards. fair enough rooney could have said worse but he was right in what he did say to camera

  15. hurr says:

Now they’re saying Wiley could sue SAF. Those pieces of turds just won’t stop do they?

  16. Gee says:

It’s a disgrace that you cant say anything about a piss poor performance by a Ref, Fletcher got it right when he said players and managers can all be slated for bad performances or poor selections but a Ref has to be shown respect!! Fuck off, they are supposed to be professional and they get paid to do their job and if they dont do it they should be prepared to take the stick that comes along with it. I fully agree that on the pitch they should be shown respect and not be swarmed by players but when the match is over they should be as accountable as any player or manager and nobody should be punished for telling them they were fucking shit!! Ref’s think they are fucking famous now and need people like SAF putting them in their place, how many ex Ref’s have you seen on tv having a pop at SAF, fucking loads, some one should tell them ‘you are no longer a Ref or on tv so fuck off coz you were never a star dickhead’ well except fucking Poll and he was only famous for yellow carding the same player 3 times in a game in a major tournament but he is on tv talking about SAF and how he should be punished, fucking wanker!! If I was Rooney (thankfully for United I’m not) I would have fucking twated the Ref, Cashley Arsehole and fucking Arse bandit Drogba!!

Rooney = Legend, United for life!!

  17. Union Jack says:

Its good to see Rooney speaking with such a level head. He is so right about decisions going both ways, by rights evans was lucky to stay on the pitch.

    @ hurr

Wiley won’t sue cos then he will have to prove that he isn’t a fat twat who can’t keep up with proffesional athletes who are half his age. A man’s pride won’t let him admit he has let himself go.

  18. denton davey says:

“I probably shouldn’t have said it, although I maybe could have said worse!”

I have been more-than-a-little pissed that SAF climbed down and apologized – even if half-heartedly – about his comments concerning Wiley’s fitness. I am therefore happy to see that TheBoyWonder has not capitulated.

Considering the shocking lack of even-handedness in these matter – Rio = 8 months; Evra = 5 Matches; RedNev = fine – it’s time for UTD to stand up to the FA. The more especially because there now seems to be a virtual conspiracy among their referees to look the other way when LittleMikey and Wesley Brown are manhandled, Carrick is bulldozed, Valencia is brought down in the area, Evra is smashed in the chops, and TheBoyWonder is wrongly given offsides – in two games ! We all know that if it walks like a duck and it talks like a duck then it’s probably ….

The comments by Graham Poll and Jeff Winter – as well as the ludicrous suggestion that Wiley could sue SAF – have to be added to the referees’ mouthpiece that the four-match fine against SAF (two suspended) was too lenient, only add to my suspicion that David Gill’s influence at FA headquarters isn’t being exerted.

  19. Dazjoe says:

It’s a disgrace that the FA want to take all emotion out of the game. Christ, you watch your team batter the opposition for 90 minutes, and get cheated out of a result by a corrupt/incompitant ref, and then you’re stuck in front of a worldwide audience 20 minutes later and expected to speak nicely and calmly about the match!
There was nothing wrong with what Rooney did, all players should do the same if they think they’ve been treated unfairly.
Fuck the ‘respect the ref’ campaign. I was always told when I was younger that you had to EARN respect, which fucking ref in this country has done enough to earn being respected? The likes of Fergie, Giggs, Scholes, and Nev certainly have.

  20. cantona7 says:

    @aliasrns5 hahahahahahahahaha

    you nailed that one mate

  21. Fze123 says:

He could have said a lot worse…But he wouldn’t have shouted ‘It’s a fucking disgrace!’ into the camera like a certain drog has done.

  22. bchilds says:

Gotta agree, he was quite restrained. We all know how volatile he can react so, hopefully, this has shown another leap forward in his maturaty.

  23. RooneytheConqueror says:

Hmmm…he mouths “12 men” and keeps on walking and everyone goes ballistic. Droogba screams “it’s a fucking disgrace” right into the camera and Chelski want to defend him and claim that the refs robbed them against the best team in Europe. Tossers.
