Following Manchester United’s 2-0 win over Ajax this week, Wayne Rooney has insisted he is keen on winning the second rate European competition and doesn’t think going for the Europa League will have an impact on our title challenge.
“I’ve no concerns about it hindering our progress in the league, not at all,” he said. “I’m really looking forward to the rest of this competition. It’s a new challenge for all of us. There’s no point being in a competition if you aren’t going to try and win it and the manager has shown he is going to put out strong teams. It would be great to be the first United team to win this trophy, and that’s our aim.”

I would rather that once you are out of a competition that is it but these are the rules. Let’s hope it helps to keep the machine ticking and also provide valuable games for the likes of Tom etc.

League is the highest priority right now though, we have to beat City.
No doubts, we are in a competition, Europa, that calls into question our priorities. But if we do well and win it, that will bring its own praise and raise us up.
At the same time we are out of all of our domestic cups so there is little doubt we have the squad available. Injuries have been the death of some of our ambitions. But we are still in it in the league and that has to be the number one priority.
Absolutely sucks to be sitting on our hands for an entire week. Watching Spurs away to Stevenage……… Jaysus wept. Hope we do Ajax like a kipper come Thursday. Come on u reds!

This would give us 4 European cups, one more needed to get to Liverfools number and then we can calmly proceed past them, a European cup is a European cup and it will look good on the stats, next year though, Champions league, I think Barca are no longer the force they were based on the performances I have seen, they are less consistent, I think they are there for the taking nxt year though Madrid may be a different prospect.

@NBI Red Onion, err what? The Europa League is not a European Cup. Besides, Liverpool have won the UEFA/Europa three times in the past, so why would we want to inflate their number of cups at the same time?

Arsenal’s kit for next seasn is also horrendous as is Barcelonas. Not sure who they pay at nike to design kits but they are doing a shit job. bring back the adidas shirt we wore in 84/85 I say.
