Wayne Rooney broke Sir Bobby Charlton’s as Manchester United’s all-time top scorer with a 94th minute winner equaliser against Stoke.

Just over 12 years ago, Rooney scored his first United goal and after the game today claimed he never imagined this day would come.

It’s a great honour. I’m very proud. It’s difficult at the minute to be over pleased because of the result. Two points dropped. But in the grand scheme of things it’s a huge honour for me and something I never expected when I joined the club. But I’m delighted and really proud.

It’s been great, very successful and a lot more to come. As I’ve said before, I’m really proud, and hopefully there’s more to come.
