Rooney Out For Semi?

Reports this evening suggest that Wayne Rooney will not face Everton in our FA Cup semi-final on Sunday.

Our forward was seen limping against Porto on Wednesday but managed to play on and after the game Ferguson claimed it was nothing serious.

It seems as though scans he had today suggest his foot is worse than initially thought so he will miss out on our second trip to Wembley this season!

thought you meant the CL…got me happy for a sec…

  2. rob taylor says:

    shit

  3. costas says:

Truly unfortunate.Let’s just hope that he is ok for Tottenham at the latest.Tev and Berba can handle Everton and portsmouth.

  4. costas says:

Guys i read that it is a problem with the metatarsal. There is no reason to risk a fracture.Let’s give him some rest and hopefully he will be ok for Tottenham or Arsenal. We can’t lose Wayne to a metatarsal injury at this point. We just can’t.

  5. Giles Oakley says:

Bad news. He is so motivated to win the FA Cup he’s like a throw back to the 50s. If we get to the Final, he’s got to be there!

  6. ellioman says:

    Damnit!!
Let’s hope that this is not serious and just a precaution by the United Staff.
It’s so annoying these injuries he keeps getting, especially when he’s our most ‘in-form’ player!

  7. costas says:

If it is another metatarsal, that will be a real concern because it will be his 4th such unury.

  8. costas says:

injury i meant. The others being at Euro 04,before the world cup in 06 and against Reading in 07.Obviously here there is no break.Probably bruising. But as i said,Ronaldo,Tev and Berba should be enough to see off Everton,Pompey and Tottenham.

  9. Maik says:

Yeah, they should. But he’s been out with small injuries a lot this season…

  10. mrmyagki says:

it always seem portugese things and rooney dont go well together! he broke his metatarsal at the euros against portugal, before the world cup against chelsea when ferriera made the tackle and injures himself against porto!

  11. costas says:

He has had some small injuries and maybe his physique is a bit vulnerable.United doctors have to do what’s best with him.Right now i put the FA cup 3rd as a priority.Liverpool will be without Stevie Me against Pool and maybe even Hull.We have a glorious chance to open up the gap before the Ch.League seis get started. So if we can get him fit against Tottenham, that will ne a great boost because that game could be the one putting us in the drivers seat for good.

  12. costas says:

“Stevie Me against Arsenal i meant”

  13. whiteknight03 says:

I guarantee Gerrard will play against Arsenal.

  14. mrmyagki says:

your right costas, just hope arsenal do us a huge favour by knocking 6 bells out of the vermin because the season really starts now for us! so we need all our players fit and well!

another interesting note since the turn of the year the cockneys havent conceded a goal at the emirates, but we are united, masters of ending runs!

  15. costas says:

whiteknight03 you think they might be up to their old tricks? This was not announced by Benitez,it has been reported so there may be some truth to it.Well with or without him,the next 4 games that Liverpool have are their toughest so lets see how they handle that.

  16. Adam says:

Thought he did his metatarsal in again, so it could have been worse.

  17. Genre Kelly says:

Bad news. No shit, I hope its not serious. Not the same beating you without your talisman.
Get well soon fatty. If you dont make it your mate “Ronnie like” will step up for you, he’s always had your back.
    wink wink

  18. King Eric says:

Genre – You really do like it on this site don’t you? It has nothing to do with Arsenal so don’t tell me you saw it on newsnow. You arsenal fans really are worried aren’t you? (Rhetorical).

  19. PeeJay says:

    Macheda anyone?

  20. misterq says:

No Macheda now, when we’re so close. Next season or some less important games or friendlies

  21. man u kings says:

BAD NEWS. But if its for a game its ok. man u can handle everton and it will give tev a chance.

  22. costas says:

And Mourinho called Wenger a voyeur! He must have never met Genre Kelly.Of course he cheers the “fatty” on when he wears the England shirt doesn’t he?

  23. vidic will get ya15 says:

genre kelly are you infact pires moron? it is bad news about wazza hope he is fit to bag his 2nd european hat trick.
my mate went to anfield the other day and asked for a cuppa tea, they said he can’t so he asked why not??? to which he was told because all the mugs are on the pitch and all the cups are at old trafford

Can we please have a carrick chant being sung out at OT? He bloody deserves it more than atleast berbatov, who had a chant in his first game!

  25. Androo says:

Awesome. Great. Perfect. United’s best player is going to miss a semifinal. How bloody typical for us this season.

  26. costas says:

Androo if it means he is fit for the rest of the season, let’s take it.The lad wants to play in the semi final like he is possessed but if there is a bruised or hurt metatarsal he has to rest it.I have heard a weird story about Beckham’s injury against Duscher.I think he didn’t break the metatarsal at first. He did so while trying to stand up on the touchline. If Wayne suffered a similar injury at Porto and carried on for 60 minutes without breaking the metatarsal that’s a miracle. It could always be something else of course. In typical United fashion, they are keeping this very hush hush.

  27. wazza says:

costas: i hope its not a break.Fergie has said Rooney & Carrick have got knocks & are doubtful for sun.

  28. costas says:

I don’t think it’s a break either. But we have to be very careful about it.Good thing that the next 3 games can be won without him and i hope i don’t sound too cocky here.

  29. Devilton says:

While I really hope his foot isn’t bad enough to keep him out of more then 1-2 games, i am glad he isn’t playing against Everton. Last thing we need is Rooney losing his head against a team that will give him a LOT of stick.

If we can’t beat them with Tevez, Berbatov, Macheda and Ronaldo then perhaps winning the FA cup isn’t in the clubs destiny this year. Frankly, I’ll be happy with the League title and the Champs league (along with the two we already have).

The league has to be the priority so even if Rooney is 50/50 he should be rested. We should have other players that can do the business in the ‘big’ games as well.

  30. corea says:

    @ Devilton
We should beat Everton with players we have. Everton doesn’t have Saha, Arteta. Jo can not play so we are more than even in this department.
The more worrying thing is that Roon has regained his form and he won’t play in some games wich are not only very important every one of them but also it will be more and more difficult to come back because of the late stage of the season.
Sad news. Let’s hope he will be back against Tottenham.

  31. Scott the Red says:

And the award for the most bitter fan to venture on RoM of late……

    Gennnnnnnre Kelllllyyyy!

Congrats you bitter trophyless 4th placed goon! This is how it feels to be City, this is how it feels to be small, this is how it feels when your team wins nothing at all, NOTHING at all, NOTHING at all…

  32. wazza says:

scott, genre kelly has admitted he loves ROM !

genre wishing you congratulations on your award.hope u go on to achieve more of such awards.

  33. Androo says:

Tevez is an excellent replacement for Rooney, although as good as he is Rooney is irreplaceable.

  34. corea says:

Wenger is worried about the Wembley’s pitch

    http://www.tribalfootball.com/wembley-pitch-concerns-arsenal-boss-wenger-239089

in this circumstances it’s better for Roon to stay home. he almost got injuried there in the internationals i think..

  35. costas says:

I worry about the pitch too.All that money to make the stadium and they still won’t fix that thing.

  36. Kings says:

Genre Kelly – ‘get well soon fatty’. That’s an original statement. No doubt you will be chanting his name when he’s playing for Ingerlund, you cunt. What the fuck are you and ‘Arsenal-fan’ doing on here? there was no mention of Arsenal in this write up. Obviously obsessed with this club to keep coming on here. Why don’t you two pair of cunts fuck off and pump each other.

  37. Hussain says:

    Rooney will start.

  38. deathorvictory-mufc says:

he was never going to start him for everton anyway! bet hes on the bench

  39. Macheda is GOD says:

Fuck me.I had a bet on wayne to score.

  40. Red Dave says:

    christ, that is unfortunate

  41. Devilton says:

I can see Tevez and Macheda to start with Scholes, Fletcher in the midfield and Park and Nani on the wings. SAF has to give priority to the league and while the FA cup is certainly important it simply can’t be more important then the league or Champs league.

We have almost double the number of games left then the dippers and they will push us to the last game so it’s time to now decide. What does the club value the most?

The answer to me and SAF (it seems) is pretty simple. The quintuple was always a dream and one that i doubt any team can achieve in the modern age where you easily play 70+ games a season (including preseason, friendlies, etc).

Even with a squad as talented and deep as ours to compete on all fronts is near impossible. We are already seeing fatigue in a few key players and no matter what you about our kids, they can’t come in and play more then 15 games and produce consistently. Evans is an example…brilliant season, but as he plays high pressure games the inexperience does begin to show.

We should beat the bluenose bitters with a second string team but even if we don’t it’s not the end of the world. Our priority has to be the league and CL and if we win those we have already won 2 more cups then we did at the end of our glorious last season.

    I’ll take a quadruple anyday!
