Rooney: We all want to impress LvG

Ahead of United’s first pre-season game against LA Galaxy, Wayne Rooney has spoken of the players’ eagerness to impress Louis can Gaal.

“We all have to go out and show what we can do,” Rooney said. “We have to show him every day in training what different qualities we have got as players and a team. Everyone wants to impress the new manager so that is what we are all aiming to do. We will try to put what we are doing in training into the games. Obviously, we have a manager with new ideas so we have to try to train well and make sure we are listening to what he wants to do and take that on to the pitch. We have to show him what we can do. I’ve only had one session but the preparation has been really good. I’m just looking forward to getting more sessions in before our first game.”

    I have a feeling Rooney will thrive under LVG. One thing if anyone has noticed in Barca, Bayern and Holland teams, the player with ability of Rooney and work rate is highly valued by ” The father of Modern football.”

    What more, we have a manager who is tactically astute enough to accommodate both RVP and Rooney on his team and get the best out of both. The only thing is player should be obedient to him.

    @Tommy sorry to say but Rooney could possibly save his arse as he has versatility to play as a winger, attacking midfielder, the lone striker, be the extra man in defending midfield and had an eye for a good pass. Thing is tho, he need to improve his first touch.

    @FBr David Lee

    Hes a forward mate, any other position and he is wasted, if you need a wide player, buy one or a midfielder buy one, we have plenty of number 10s, hes got a poor first touch, lacks pace or intelligence, his stregth is in the box scoring goals and if LVG goes 1 up top that man will be RVP
