Robin van Persie reckons he is settling in to life at United but is keen to provide more goals as well as score them.
“I think I’m on the way,” he told ITV, when asked how well he had settled. “I’d like to make more assists. I have seven goals but for me, as I’ve said many times, it’s not only about goals. Of course it’s about winning, but I want to make more assists. Until now, I gave only one so I want that to improve a bit. I’m on a good run but I can always do better.”
Van Persie was happy to score the winner tonight but gave credit to Wayne Rooney for the assist.
“The second one was maybe my best for United,” he added. “I have to look at it again, but it felt good when it came off. Everything starts with a good pass so I have to thank Wayne, because not many players can give a pass like that. It was good build-up play before the goal and, when it came to him, I knew he could see that pass and actually give it exactly the way I wanted, so credit to Wayne. I think it’s the first time we both started together and we’re both very pleased with that, but we’re all in it together. Chicharito played very well today, we have Danny, we have lots of strikers so we’re all doing it together.”

Man Utd News 24/7

Total football from the Deadly Dutchman.
Epitome of class!
Good attitude as always from him. He’s turned into a very mature player from that emotional kid at Arsenal in the past few years. The captaincy there really helped. The benefits of which we’re obviously enjoying. Keep em coming Robin!
artistry at its best. The dutch always seem to produce them. Van persie caresses the football like a feather floating through the wind. He’s a match winner, hope to see more of that. Wayne and RVP are two top class players, both on the same wavelenght. Liked the humility and his acceptance of responsibility too.
Always appreciative & ateam player wth great attitude we luv u Rvp & continua doing it we are behind you and the whole team
His record for the past one and a half season is only bettered by Messi & Ronaldo!
RVP played brilliantly today. His linkup play and work rate were excellent. He could have added his assist tally had he slide the ball across goal for Hernandez at 73 min or 74 min mark.
Hernandez was unlucky. He made some very good runs but nobody seemed to pick a pass for him. He is short on confidence. I am sure that if we play him more he will regain his form.
Maybe we have to reinvent him and play him as a right/left sided forward in a 433 as he has pace and makes intelligent runs and has a decent cross too. With his pace he will be an asset on the wing and like Valencia he can track back and help in defense too.
Chicarito played well? really? He was as Bobby Valentino once sang – anonymous
Similar comments from RVP to those he made after his hat-trick at Southampton. That time he said that MOM was Scholes not him. I agree his matureity makes him very likeable and will surely help build team spirit unity.
Rooney Kagawa Valencia and him have the potential to build an understanding the like of which we have never seen before. They just need to stay fit.
Very good performance from our midfield trio.
Yet I remember not so long ago there were loads here questioning why Sir Alex bought him, hmm!! Many even objected to him coming because he played for the Arse, deluded lot!!
Three assists in two games for Wayne Rooney; and three very good assists too; Is this the future of Wayne Rooney, a deep – lying attacking midfielder setting up chances for our strikers? I wouldn’t mind seeing a bit more of him in that position!
