Whilst Robin van Persie was named Man of the Match for today’s 3-2 victory over Southampton, our striker claims that it is Paul Scholes, who came on for the last half an hour when we were 2-1 down, who was the best player on the pitch.
“Of course everybody worked hard, but I have to say a big thank you to Paul Scholes because everything started to tick when he came on,” Robin said in an interview with Sky Sports. “Every single pass he hit was the right one. Everyone felt that – I certainly did. He hit a couple of unbelievable passes over thirty or forty metres. With him you are always on your toes because anything can happen with his quality. For me, he was the man of the match.”
After scoring a great goal last week to draw United level against Fulham, Van Persie’s hattrick against Southampton today has seen the Dutchman have pretty much a dream start to his career with the club.
“I have to thank everyone, it is a great club and everyone has been very helpful. I have only been here for two weeks but I feel very welcome,” he added. “The players, the staff and everyone who is involved with United have made me feel welcome and they all want to help. They all appreciate that I’m there and that feeling is likewise.”

SCHOLES IS CLASS
i know this is off topic but i need opinions, anyone else think rio was not injured, i mean he was due back in two weeks , and he was put in straight away ( ahead of evans) with no reserve time or football time under the belt after not playing for 2-3 weeks. i reckon it may have something to do with the “~choc ice” tweet, whether he was punishing him , or simply letting it lie low , so the media dont take it and run with it. or am i just a nutcase high on what just happen this evening?
plus the whole banning the reporter because he wrote something along the lines of rio being injured for the everton game, that does not seem like a valid reason to ban a journo
Rio is a naturally fit guy and has never needed reserve games to get back to form, so I doubt that.
@colbert fair enough , but at times it does seems he is made of glass
Robin Robin Robin the red
He scores with his feet n scores with his head!
That said, Scholesy was absolutely the gamechanger. Exhilirating dying minutes but a crap defensive performance today. Really need to get this back 4 steady now to iron out all their issues.
Pity he is not 10 years younger.
to me rvp is far better dan rooney, valencia did okay, nani still below par, kagawa needs a little bit of strength which he as started, rafeal and evra needs more concentration, carrick need time to leave d defensive mentalty. Rvp cant just stop scoring.
Lads – me nerves were shattered today. Im Salford born and bred (Whit Lane) but we moved back to Ireland. Anyway – my point is that Im just old enough to remember being taken to OT by the school and seeing Tony Dunne’s calf muscles and then of course Ive seen all the great full backs after that. Now am I missing something here but from what Ive seen this season and all of last – the so called John O’Pie is a star full back compared to what we have at the minute. Jesus, Id even take Phil Neville back.
(just going back to me respirator)
If Robin keeps this up i know what jersey im buying for next season.
Let’s not go completely over-the-top – the changes (Scholes/Nani/Chicharito) created a different dynamic BUT the key factor in winning was that UTD began to play with some sense of urgency.
From his very first touch, Scholes ran through the midfield and put the ball on a plate for RVP (which he proceeded to shank); but, TheGingerNinja’s passing wasn’t quite the metronymic accuracy we’ve come to expect from him – I think that two of them went astray !
Similarly, Chicharito stretched Soton’s defence in a way that RVP hadn’t done while Nani did what Nani does – he was more direct than DannyTheLad who looked a bit lost in whatever “role” SAF had assigned to him.
For whatever reason, TheLads looked more comfortable playing with two real wingers, a real lead-the-line striker, and a goal-threat playing “in the hole”. IT’s still very early days and two defeats would not have been the end of the world but, of course, being just one point behind the noisy-neighbours is much better.
AND lest those Carrick-bashers forget, that wonderful long ball over the top (which RVP mis-controlled off his thigh) came from a pass from – yes ! – Michael Carrick.
Once they are fit -I’d like to see Jones or Smalling at right back. Defence in not solid enough yet -but in SAF I trust.
We’ll get better as the season progresses.. Today was a real wake up call for many players.. Too much ponderance in attack and slow passing.. Kagawa was slipping and getting bullied off the ball.. What we need to do is find a formation which really clicks.. For all of tom’s creativity and aura around supporters, i believe ando was better suited for a game like today. Hope he isnt injured.. Would also like to see ryan tunnicliffe thrown in occasionally when we are being run ragged by the physical teams.. Onwards and upwards united!
Southampton were gassed when Scholes came on. They gave him 5 yards to play which will of course only end badly. This wont happen against better teams. A midfield of Carrick and Scholes is a disaster they cannot move. That prick Messi … sorry Puncheon ran from right midfield right through the middle of Carrick and Scholes unchallenged. They dont press the ball in midfield Southampton midfielders had all the time they wanted. Why Cleverley got replaced instead of Carrick is a fucking mystery. Why Wellbeck is played on the left is a mystery. The first 20 he stayed wide, we had balance and dominated the ball but after he drifted inside and out the game.
Denton- great points, i think SAF should stop playing strikers on the wing. Once nani came in we got that bit more natural width, and chicho obviously streched them and was helped by nani pulling away rather that get infield. I think if we play two wingers we shall be fine. Ando should really step up and boss the midfield.. Its all there for the taking.
Robin had that right…. Thank the gods for Scholes. But crickey we are so screwed when he isn’t on, or isn’t on his game.
Why can’t we invest more for a MF playmaker? Is there someone that Fergie is after that just hasn’t materialized? This just doesn’t seem to be working to plan quite yet. I am just a tad confused.
At least the defense is coming back from hybernation. Carrick is needed in MF and it was just pathetic having Berbatov as the backup CB. What is this?? a flea circus.
Not meaning to rag on the lads atol. Just feel we are a couple sort of a full deck.
Djunfitforwork
i want to see evans at lb
@Denton Davey
Agree with you on the urgency. Its usually when we are a goal or two behind that it strikes us to play that way, remarkably different from even two years ago when we would see periods of sustained urgency throughout the match. It was usually coupled with back to front counter attacking football that prevented teams from crowding us out in the final third. Having said that the misplaced passes and poor first touches seemed to drain us of that quickness as the match wore on today. Also looking back Fletch remains a huge miss, so much of the drive forward and us punching out from defense/midfield was down to the indefatigable scotsman. Hopefully we evolve. Carrick actually threaded that long pass a couple of times, promising considering how many of van persies goals at arsenal were because of songs lobbed balls. Not all doom and gloom at all, but we do need to push on and really dominate one of these matches.
carrick 115/126 passing (91%) , 8/8 long balls
That’s the best way to utilize Scholes imo. As an impact sub. I know some people would prefer him to start, but at 38, he’s better off capitalizing on our opponents tired legs. Give Carrick and Tom some time to gel together. They are our most realistic chance of putting together a regular midfield duo.
we managed to have 20 (7on target),11 shots (5 on target) for rvp
i think rafa did well today decent match we can t expect him winning headers against Lambert,
i think lindy could have come and punched it
with jones due to return he will be at rb in away matches
Well said Costas.
Carrick, Clevs with Scholes and Andro as a shake up. Powell on the bench. The lad learns and grows every day.
Good play from the lads. But Buttner should be tried at Left Back and not on the bench
Seemed to me that yes, the ginger ninja did turn it around, but as was picked by le tissier, it was easier for him coming on against tired legs, not detracting from him, he cant help father time catching up.
But other factors, for me we also look far moreddangerous with 2 out & out strikers, welbeck out of position on the left was a waste of a player today.
Worringly the fullback situation is still a massive concern in both flanks defensively & every game, fellaini, dembele, lambert, we are being caused severe problems by a bit of muscle.
Im scared stiff our continued neglect of centre midfield for yet another year is gonna hand city another trophy.
But then i am a negative old sod.
Powell will be a star, where I’m not sure?
City is strong. What # of points will it take for 20?
i think int break will benefit us in someway with Vidic still trying to regain his form and fitness him and rio will come stronger
rooney will return also, scholes giggs jones young…
i just hope that rvp will not pick an injury with nedtherland
Rafa–Rio–Vida–Evans
Evans is the best defender on the team now at 25? Vida only 3 games back, has lost a 1/2 step from 2 years ago. Evans last year form, now Evra has been just OK for so long. Evans at LB and a running Rafa out right.
Ruud van Nistelrooy:
First goal for United against: Fulham. First hattrick for United against: Southampton.
Robin van Persie:
First goal for United against: Fulham. First hattrick for United against: Southampton.
Interesting

need more 36 goals
Xavi on Paul Scholes:
“In the last 15 to 20 years the best central midfielder that I have seen — the most complete — is Scholes. I have spoken with Xabi Alonso about this many times. Scholes is a spectacular player who has everything. He can play the final pass, he can score, he is strong, he never gets knocked off the ball and he doesn’t give possession away. If he had been Spanish then maybe he would have been valued more”.
Xavi
off topic but does anyone know if the deal for Henriquez went through? Cant seem to find any confirmation…
I think Scholes and Kagwa would be our best MF duo by miles, they would read each others games, complement each other perfectly and be a lethal link up with RVP, but you would need a mean defence behind them.
RONALDO TELLS THE PRESIDENT OF RMD HE IS UNHAPPY AND WANTS TO LEAVE.
…According to twitter.
To me he did look a little sad after scoring two goals today , hardly celebrating, i remember when he was at United ,when he scored he used celebrate like he actually scored.
SKy sports have quotes saying he is sad. whether he wants to leave is another question . ( if he does which i highly doubt) united will be out priced unless glazer see a gap in terms of shirt selling and pull their finger out. cannot see him going foe less than 50 mill IF he does leave , which i doubt very much.
@dan he was at the reserve game mid week im pretty sure its a done deal
He should buy himself out then sign for Utd on a free with £450,000 weekly wage.
Vidic – “He looked a bit sad”, that’s your ideal to lure ronaldo? clutch and straws come to mind Ha, never going to happen, madrid is his dream.
NBI – you can’t play scholes and kagawa in a two man midfield in a high intensity premier league.
Samuel
Yeah worth a try mate !
Imagine … Lol
Rooney. RvP
CR7. AV7
I saw the Real game, he looked distracted.
Like when Iniesta won the award his face is like wtf really?
To be fair it must be boring playing in La Liga, which has two teams challenging for the title and whatever Ronaldo does he will ALWAYS be compared to Messi therefore does not get the full credit he deserves…
So Cristiano … We’ll be waiting
Scholes’ brilliance is without doubt, he has the vision of an owl in the dark, he has the passing range of a laser light, he has the intelligence of a crafty ninja, he has the shot of a thunderbolt. Brilliant player and the manager used him well by bringing him off the bench because at 38, he hasn’t got the legs for 90+ mins but when we enter later stages of matches, we bring him on to provide that magical pass wrapped in vision to carve teams open.
Cleverley didn’t have a good day on the pitch but he’ll improve for sure, carrick just had a rare off day from his usual efficient self. We need to improve our solidity at the back, the defenders playing regularly behind one keeper (de gea is still first choice) will sort that, evra needs to buck up his ideas as i’d expect buttner to soon be pushing him. Welbeck worked really hard from an unnatural position, he’s more a centre forward but technically good enough to do a job, kagawa will hopefully have more better games.
Hernandez played really well when he came on. Bright, sharp and causing danger with his runs. He continues like that and we’ll see him contribute this season. Nani being left out has definitely given him the kick he needed, his lamented decision makings improved, his corners beat the first man and provided an assist for the winning goal, that’s why i consider him an important member and should be kept.
All in all, we’ll improve and get better with time and patience but one thing is certain, we’ll all experience crazy moments this season.
Vidic – no one can deny that those quartet of players would do serious damage in the premier league, we would instill fright into opponents. Goals galore. I can only imagine Ronaldo’s grumbles are about an increase in wages, i still doubt he’d leave but if he was to then he’d cost absolute an fortune, 100m+ i reckon, can’t afford that.
@Samuel
True , it fantasy stuff , too good to be true .
But on another note , in Scholes I agree with Costas about conserving his energy and he’ll stil be able to inject that moment of brilliance in a dull or an out of reach game ,anyone remember last season in March against Chelski 3-0 down but he inspired us to pull it back to 3-3 ,mentally that was a big moment last season.Lets hope we recover in the international break and bounce on from here.
Battery low .. Cyaa guys.
Costas has it spot on – Scholes is best utilised from the bench, to turn the screw on teams. I wouldn’t like to see him starting many games, particularly coz we need to wean ourselves off relying on him game in game out.
I actually thought Cleverley looked very bright in the first half but disappeared in the second. Still think him and Carrick is our best combo, would like to see that given a few more games. We did get bullied and hassled a bit today though, Kagawa in particular.
Its not fantasy. Ronaldo has been spotted in an interview with david gill and his agent in a country club in london. Also if im not mistaken he will only have 1 year left next summer. For some reason i have a strong feeling that next summer he will come back and play on the left for fergies last ever united team. Maybe its wishful thinking but would you really say its an absolute uncertainty that ronaldo will come here next summer (maybe bale or silva going the other way) to play on the left, and then possibly mourinho take over in 2 or 3 years.
Before i get shit for this, im simply raising a point, not stating what i am expecting. But lets be honest, this would be pretty immense…
De gea
Rafael, ferdinand, vidic, evra
Clevz, carrick
Kagawa, rooney, ronaldo
RVP
May aswell ditch barclays and call it the manchester united premier league
Samuel, ronaldo is incredibly wealthy, one of the wealthiest players on the planet. If he decided to come home and play for his ‘father’ for the last few years of his managerial career, Wages will not be a stumbling block. Where else would he go? Ac milan are piss poor, city are fucked with ffp, french league is a no go for him (so fuck psg!) .. He will only come to united. He has said how he is unhappy, and he now gets taxed more cause spain has got rid of its special athletes tax cause the country needs money. Not saying its definate, but who knows, its a possibility
ffs…home from work and the sky + has fucking failed to record motd2… anyone got extended highlights link…

OK time to think, Rio found form last half of the season. After he adjusted his game to his diminished physical self. Now I know only 3 games back but Vida has not showed his burst of speed. So Evans might grab a spot sooner then latter. Smalling might press for a spot by February. One aging CB at a time???
Evans might first start at LB
Rafa–Rio–Vida–Evans
i wonder what wayne rooney is thinking right now
Denton Davey:
I have told this before, if we are comfortable with 4-4-2, why we need to change it?
Some people suggesting that we should play like Barca with 4-2-3-1, but we dont have at least one defensive midfielder to fill in the 2 midfielders infront of our defenders, and we dont play like Barca. While we have 3 good wingers (Nani, Tony V, A Young) in our sleeves, why we should not stick to 4-4-2? As we know how to play it. We can play with 2 strikers for lesser opponents, or Kagawa (as trequartista) + 1 striker.
Also, I think we dont need to push ourself to play Kagawa and play other player (i.e: Welbeck) out of position. With the resource in our team, we can rest Kagawa for some matches. I think Fergie realised this and then changed the way we play to 4-4-2 with Nani and Chicha.
A thrilling game anyway, happy 1000th game in charge Sir Alex!
one week down for Wazza, 3 to go.
Sep 15 10:00 ET Manchester United v Wigan Athletic Old Trafford Premier League
Sep 23 8:30 ET Liverpool v Manchester United Anfield Premier League
Sep 29 12:30 ET Manchester United v Tottenham Hotspur Old Trafford Premier League
Oct 7 11:00 ET Newcastle United v Manchester United Sports Direct Arena Premier League
Oct 20 10:00 ET Manchester United v Stoke City Old Trafford Premier League
Oct 28 12:00 ET Chelsea v Manchester United Stamford Bridge Premier League
Nov 3 8:45 ET Manchester United v Arsenal Old Trafford Premier League
So back for the spurs and up to game speed by Chelski and the Gunners for 6 points!!
Mitch he was thinking if he was on the left not Danny, he would have got a goal and assisted on @ of RVP 3 goals and Man Utd wins 5-1.
Baked
some of the comments on here during the game on the rvp hatrick link were embarrassing. Wait till the whistle goe’s lads
anyway, zibbie ur right… 3 games played, 3 different defence’s. Vida missed a season. rio’s , well rio’s Rio and keeps getting injured then having to play himself back to some kind of form. Evans, was pretty decent to be fair last season after consistent run of games and we still have jones and smalling to come back…
fuk know;s what the strongest partnership is these days. Not sure they have all played together, not as a back four but as a partnership. Have to say Vida on full form and fitness takes 1 spot, then it’s between the others.
Evra still needs to up his game, and rafeal is always going to be targeted with aerial ball’s. He stood no chance against lambert for the opener.
3 games, 6 points. Started worse than this many a time and still kept our trophy.
anyway, need to go and give the missus a spoon in bed i think
Burn the fuking lot
Rooney was in the gym, he wouldn’t of seen it
Rooney signs for Man Utd at 17 to win trophies.
He had Ruud, Giggs to compete with, then in one year SAF lets go Ruud and Becks for Rooney and Ronaldo. Then comes Saha, Teves, Beba, Owen, Lil Pea, Welbeck now RVP.
In 8 years the one constant on offense was Rooney.
4 PL titles, goal difference and a bad call to 6 of 6. 3 of 4 years in CL final. He is a winner. He will find his place in big games down the stretch.
BaBs yep this week for the Nats is good for Man Utd. Rio and Vida a week at Carington.
Vida when up to speed is the 1st choice.
on form and full fitness roo’s our best player..in terms of what he offers to the team, gives u the lot zib..Just wish he’d quit the cig’s and settle down with the family more..only 26 tho, and most lads his age would be doing far worse i suppose. Im 28, and i still like to live the dream occasionally so can’t be to hard on him when he’s snapped having a drink and a grope in vegas.
oh yeh, best player apart from scholes…GOD
You can call for us to play 4-4-2, but then don’t complain when we get overrun in the middle of the park. 4-2-3-1 is the way to go, unless we’re chasing the game like the last 20 mins today.
Also did anyone notice that Rio and Vidic have switched back around again? Rio’s back at right CB, Vidic at left CB. They changed last year, but Fergie seems to have reverted to the original combination.
I can see this team going deep into the CL, you never know. But RVP and Rooney if they find a vibe and Kagawa blends well. Wow a rotating triangle of advantage. With Tony and Rafa feeding them from the right. And attacking slashing runs from the middle and the lanes.
yes sparx, 4-2-3-1 gives more flexibility. U’ll never please all fans, they’ll call for 4-4-2 then moan if we concede possession.
At the end of the day we’ll play teams were both formation’s are needed. Just about making the right decision on which one to use.
fuking love paul scholes
zib, where’s ur PIC’S man , partner in crimes…cedar’s n co..
last couple weeks was on holiday, and then work commitments so not been on here much. Been catching up on the rom blog’s but not seen a few usual suspects.
Hi Sparkz, yes I saw that as well.
What was the last team to win the CL in a 4-4-2?
I do not know how to make an Avatar.
The set up on ND58 is to busy for my eye. Some have left here in a temporary thing. I hope a short one.
My eye likes a blog. Name comment and move on. Clean not so busy.
sparks,i was baked during the highlight’s i just watched so didn’t notice that fella. Kudos for the spot.
Zibbie, google it man for some online tool’s u can use..failing that foook know’s
i love cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeessssssssse
Sparkz
Why we will get overrun if we play 4-4-2? What make you so sure that we wont get overrun by playing 4-2-3-2? Its not only about formation but it also abouy the resources that we have.
Btw, We overrun Soton when we play with 4-4-2. With Welbeck and Kagawa we play with 4-2-3-1 with Welbeck-Kagawa-Tony V behind RVP.
could get overrun with either formation
except ur 4-2-3-2 formation Red Robin, hope u wasn’t including the ref
cap tipped to any of you who were lucky enough to travel south to the game
Red Army
Haha 4-2-3-1. Typo. :p
It just that none of our Carrick, Cleverley, Ando or Scholes can play the role of two midfielders in front of defenders.
@dasilvatwins – thanks. I knew he attended but cant seem to find any confirmation / club statements that he was signed by us…
Scholes was great when he came on, stretching their defence with balls out wide. But I really feel it was a combination of a few events that allowed us to get back
1.) Nani coming on. Before he came on, we offered nothing from the left, and they simply defended the middle and our right wing. Nani gave Scholes the option of going left, which stretched their defence fully.
2.) Lambert going off. After Lambert went off, their attack lost the ability to hold the ball up, which allowed us to get the ball and continue with our attacks.
3.) Our starting formation with Welbeck on the left was never going to work, it was only when we went back to 4-4-2 that we looked more fluid.
Welbeck was very poor with his ball control today and got pickpocketed a few times. He also seems to stand still in attack, not running any angles for the midfielders to hit.
Welbeck is a good striker, he should not play as a winger.
Bonfire – exactly. Tactically aware managers would not be rigid, they won’t change systems when needed. 4-2-3-1 is very good to keep and dominate the ball but you can also change into something else when needed.
Somehow I think we need more time to gel and these few games aren’t indicative of how we’ll be playing this season. It’s a new dynamic, a different set of players-even including those coming back from injury like Vida and Clev. But seriously RVP is one heck of a magic man. Finally we have someone who looks like he score whenever he has the ball or even from nothing at all. Okay apart from that shocker of a penalty. Oh goodness me. Is this business of the season or what. And my friend who’s a gunner and been cursing RVP all this while claiming he’s rubbish actually just blurted out during the game yesterday “why did we sell him?” it sucks to be an arsenal fan and I genuinely mean it.
Oh RVP you bloody beauty! In other things, evra’s getting on my nerves and he needs a spanking. Time to get Butt on.
United are playing the way they want, not like barcelona. Besides, when you get humbled in two finals by a team that dominates vast majority of possession then you have to start to be more versatile with other formations. Play 4-4-2 in europe and watch united pack their bags earlier than they want, united would be chasing shadows.
They’ll change systems when needed i mean, damn typo.
We need to hold the midfield. That’s the only weakness in the team. If we manage to handle that, we can take on even Barcelona.
It’s a bloody shame Cedars isn’t around. Would have loved to see his reaction to last night.
Sigh. RoM does feel a bit odd.
KING O S E – Agreed. I still think united are a work in progress, more improvements are need from the entire team. New players as you say, injuries have not really helped and hopefully we’ll start gelling properly soon and as for VanPersie, i agree. You watch the very best strikers out there and i think he’s amongst them. He’s as deadly a finisher as falcao, messi and ronaldo are on another level but technically, he’s brilliant, the dutchman will offer us more as he settles. He’s an all round striker and Has a left foot that is absolutely lethal.
Rooney getting back to full fitness and playing behind him is exciting, they still haven’t started a game together yet.
Anyone got any information about this? Ronaldo not happy with Real Madrid : http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story/_/id/1149937/cristiano-ronaldo-'not-happy'-with-real-madrid?cc=4716
So Ronaldo wants to quit.
Glazers, splash the cash!
Of course i remember Fergie saying he will pay 80m back for Ronaldo.
I like Carrick and he is an important player for the club. But I was really disappointed with the way he could not assert himself in midfield yesterday. As the game wore on, he became increasingly sloppy, misplacing so many simple passes, which is shocking.
Cleverley tried hard, probing continuously in the final third, but couldn’t really get into the game either as Southampton absolutely bossed the midfield.
Kagawa was very poor, maybe taken aback by how physical the English game could be. Was easily hustled off the ball. He has to get used to the frenetic pace of the English game quickly.
Its been 3 games now that our midfield, while doing well in phases, have been bullied off the park by the opposition. Honestly, its very painful to watch and this isnt what I’ve associated with United over the years. We’ve always had a powerful midfield so FFS why didnt we move in for Dembele at 15m pounds? With Berba moving in the opposite direction, it would’ve been 10m.
The other thing is, Rickie Lambert reminds me of Niall Quinn back in those days. As long as you put in a good cross and he’s on the end of it, you almost cannot prevent a goal. I would even go as far to say that even if Vidic, and not Rafael, had been marking him, the first goal would still have been conceded.
not that it’s going to happen, but ronaldo coming back to united would be a huge ‘fu*k off’ to la liga and madrid. that would be funny to see, and then the excitement would just be beginning. ah, dreams.
Anyway, most concerned about our defense. Shipping goals at away fixtures just has to stop.
Off topic: So Clyne rejected United is it? Seem like first 2 goals from us were directly aimed at his weaknesses. Couple of years at training might have made something out of ya son.
Looking them play together yesterday, I believe this must be the first time Rio weighs more than Vidic does.
@Fletch
The defensive structure in general is wrong mate. We averaged more than 1.0 conceded goals per game last season and we’ve started in similar fashion. And we are talking about 3 games where we dominated possession for large parts.
He’s here for only 3 weeks or so and he already knows who’s the engine of the team, but unfortunately Scholes is at the end of the road soon, in fact had already ended his journey until SAF brought him back. We still have not replaced Keano, now if Scholes stops for good I think we are doomed, for me even if RvP scored the hat-trick, Scholes was the one who changed the game plan with his introduction and buzzing up the midfield. Ando and TC are a very long way from taking the midfield responsibilities on their shoulders…
Also news that CR7 is sad in RM, I would say get back home bro we’ll welcome u anytime to form the “unholy” trinity of Rooney-Robin-Ronaldo to scare the shit out of the ABUs
Bred
i thought carrick did’nt have the best of games yesterday m8 to be honest, but is pass accuracy was still in the region of 91% his distribution of ball is one of his key assets, need to impose ourselves middle of the park
Scholes played well but we should also thank Southampton for getting defensive. That gave Scholes and Carrick more breathing space.
The overall performance was poor. But we need to give the team a bit of time. The team is a work in progress. New formations/system of play with new players all need time to settle.
The defense needs some real hard work. The CB’s were dominated again by a big CF. We have lost our aerial superiority. Vidic and Ferdinand should not be bullied like that by any attacker.
Offtopic, Those guys who says that Mourinho should come in when Fergie retires, should check what he’s doing now. He never believes in building a team on young talents, offloading them and replacing them with rejects like Essien and rumours going around that he want to bring in Drogba. Guti is mad with decision to loan sahin and sale of Granero. Now here comes CR7(whose the only reason makes me watch them) who is unhappy! “Mourinho is shit, Real without CR7 is crap !”
Costas,
Completely agree. Not to put to fine a point on it, but it starts at midfield for me. Ball leaking into defensive positions. Not to say that the defense has been a horror show of injuries ….. AGAIN.
Credit to DeGea, but no proper United keeper should have to be tops of the saves/game stats.
Defense and midfield just need alot of sorting.
A wins a win. But crikey its going to be a long season if it keeps up like this.
Regarding young chilean forward Angelo Henriquez, YES, signed with United and has also received the work permit to boot. So, expect him soon. Supposedly similar to Wellbeck in style but very fast and technically more proficient, with both left and right, and a lethal finisher. Averaged more than 1 goal per game with chile’s top club and has played enough games in the national team.
CR7 is most likely ‘unhappy’ due to the lack of lobbying by Real Madrid to give him the award that Inieista won. Afterall, CR7 is more superior than the dimunitive midfielder from Barca, no?
So what are the odds that Michael Owen snubs Liverpool if they make him an offer?
Kind of doubt it will come to that, but pool were the ones who refused him a spot in 2005, forcing him and his family to bear horrendous abuse.
Like to be the fly on the wall:
Stevie Me: You mean I could have gone in 2002 when Chelsea offered? Won some trophies… Then welcomed back to a nice heros welcome and gloried retirement?
Bredan Rogers: Dear no Stevie. It’s different for Mickey. He’s got his horses now.
Stevie Me: @%&* Horse’s ?!!!!
Before we got RVP people said we don’t need him, how could you not need s goal machine
I’m really sick and tired of all this moaning and all these armchair managers who come on here and say we should sign this or that player, or we have missed out on this or that player, or SAF should play this or that player, or he should drop this or that player. The man has manager Man United for 28 years now, won loads of trophies and yet some of you clowns think you know better!!!
I know you clowns are going to say you’re entitled to your opinions, right?
Well, let me point this out; an opinion is a point of view that is well considered, based on the balance of all evidence, carefully weighed or analysed and not something borne out of highly charged emotions, which is the case with many a post here!!
Anyway, I thought the header at the end was really excellent, for me, even better than his 1st goal. I’m quite happy with the points, early season yet, we’ll definitely get better!!
Exit talk is far too premature for ‘unhappy’ Ronaldo
The Portuguese refused to celebrate his two goals as Jose Mourinho’s men beat Granada 3-0 on Sunday – and expressed his unhappiness in the mixed zone after the match
Isn’t it the 26th year for him as a manager of the club?
RvP’s first goal was up there with the one against Fulham for me. Seemed like he was going for bullet header, until defender slipped, and his touch was immense! He seems worth his weight in gold after that yesterday, & don’t you worry, if we get another penalty, I’m absolutely positive he will break the net with it.
Paul Scholes…. Well…. Absolutely outstanding. Game changer, as everyone knows.
Defence. Erm. Good to see, arguably, our strongest back 4 together. But, for me. Evra is frightening when defending. Going forward he gives us that extra bust of pace, but defending. He has my heart in my mouth. All trust is gone with him, I’m afraid. Obviously, nothing you can do with slipping, but he should have been tighter which meant no slip, and a good header from Schneiderlin. But, yet to see Buttner at left back. See how he would play at side of Vidic maybe??
Kagawa looks frighteningly good! Poppin up in the holes linking up well.
How will Fergie set up with, Rvp, Kagawa, Rooney, Hernandez, Young, Valencia. Who misses out????
Add Welbeck to that aswell. A headache for SAF
Proverb…..
One of my secret hopes is that United have ‘failed’ adequately sign experienced MFs is that Ronaldo has already agreed to return. Not saying Ronaldo is a replacement for Scholes mind, just that it would make sense to the whole saga of why we don’t seem to ever sign enough MFs…. Pipe dreams
Kagawa being a notable exception ofcourse.
Reports in Spain claim Cristiano Ronaldo has told Real Madrid chief Florentino Perez that he wants to quit the club. http://t.co/qE7e2X4H
People putting Ronaldo into formations? Do me a favour. No way he’s leaving Real, let alone coming back to OT.
And yes, Kagawa and – more surprisingly – Welbeck and Vidic all got bullied by a very competitive Southampton side yesterday.
For Kagawa it’s understandable and there were times he seemed taken aback by the intensity.
Welbeck wasn’t having a great day generally and he’s never gonna have the build to shrug players off. His first touch wasn’t helping in that respect.
Vidic … He’s big ‘n’ hard. But he needs to know when someone is bigger and harder. Lambert popped open the Football League bag of tricks. Well-timed jumps, crafty backing in, and generally put himself about really well. Vidic kept biting, instead of dropping off a yard or two and defending a bit more Rio-like.
A word on Southampton as well. I thought they were excellent. Physical but fair, and played a lot of good stuff as well. Against any other team, I’d have felt gutted for them losing like they did. Hope they can maintain that this season and stay up.
Dan, Sky has similar story. That is why I posted the last comment.
Ronaldo wants out of Real …… Complete rumors and probably complete tosh!
http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11835/8047996/Ronaldo-reports-dog-Real
Proverb…. Cheers mate!
@Fletch seems like he’s really heading for the exit door
Wow, if he could return, it would be immense
He’s being overshadowed by the little argentinian there and it seems the footballing heads favour him over ronnie
But I’m sure if he manages to come back it would be better for him
The performances he putted together in la-liga
Would of guaranteed him 1 or 2 ballon d or awards here in the EPL
Kanchelskis. Go on son…. lets have our fun

Cheers @fletch
Ronnie says: “I’m sad because of a professional issue and the club know why. That’s why I didn’t celebrate the goals, because I’m not happy. The people [at the club] know why.” he told reporters after the match.
“It’s nothing to do with Iniesta [winning European player award]. I won’t talk about this any more and I will concentrate on Portugal for now. There are more important things [than this].”
“The people at the club know about this. I can’t say any more.”
Ronnie if its because you’re missing united too much, don’t worry
We will take you back with open arms and we’ll be a force again to reckon with
Rooney – Ronnie – RVPERFECT
That would be too much for the other teams
@Proverb
Yeh, sadly the fans’ willingness to take him back wouldn’t really be the stumbling block would it?
Have you run your little plan past Malcolm Glazer?
saf delayed to substute welbeck and cleverly otherwise we would have scored many about 6 goals.
Been dissing Nani for fucking ages … Then the little fucker puts a corner onto RVP’s head for us to win …. Nani , you shithouse… Making me eat humble pie …
Been dissing Nani for fucking ages … Then the little fucker puts a corner onto RVP’s head for us to win …. Nani , you shithouse… Making me eat humble pie …
And anyone else see the look Lindegard gave Evra when he let Puncheon go past him and almost score… If looks could kill….
Don’t you like it, Mr. Bee?
Costas – I see a light at the end of the tunnel!

Kanchelskis.
Ronnie fails to sign new contract. Won’t move to other club. We get him for a song.
Stock price soars. Glazers chuffed.
Sorted…..
Now mate, can I interest you in a slightly used bridge down in London. Loads of awards in it’s day.
If Ronaldo really wants to leave Madrid, then United must swap Rooney for Ronaldo, i dont think Real Madrid will refuse such offer afterall, Rooney can also generate sum commercial income.
Please dont kill me guys, its just my suggestion. If we lose Wayne it wont be so detrimental if we gain CR7 plus young Will Kean and And Angelo Henriquez will be ready to do da job.
As for da game yesterday, i was very frustrated, i normally defend Carrick but the guy was terrible, for sum reason our team just looked too relaxed, bullied easily off da ball, we dont press & pressure opponents as other teams but United always grows stronger as da season progresses my only fear is allowing others to open a big gap which we cant afford.
Anderson & Cleverley combo is better than Carrick&Cleverley or lets stick to 4-4-2 with Carrick and Scholes in Mid then ease Shinji into the line up, he is talented but not yet physically up to the premier league level.
Great start for Man U
Even the defeat was a good motivator for the team
Seems they needed the shock to wake up back for the season!
and it’d be a great ending to see SAF handing over to The Special One
Continuity guaranteed
Rooney will surely bounce back from the injury stronger! His style is much more physical than RvP’s and in some matches, it is that HARD touch that will break through stubborn defence lines!
Our midfield will surely fix itself with time! Though i’d one of those who think we need a top class CMF, I also support SAF’s efforts to let the current Midfielders improve. Perfection isn’t born in a single day. With time, i’m sure things will be okay.
This team will definitely go places
CR7 will certainly not reject the opportunity to wear a Red shirt if RM don’t make him feel at home anymore
Well thats no shock what ronaldo said hes been feeling that for the last 18 months and those fuvkin retchad fans even booyd him at stages last year…look what he has done for them yet he recieves that kind of shite….i think now he really understands just how much he was loved at OT…come hone son we will have u….
Reference yesterday i critiscised fergie for hos poor selections both in formation and players however credit to him for the subs he made as they won us the game along with a little robin…our midfield always gets exsposed when carrick plays he is useless in my eyes and i just hope fletch can get back ASAP..i think then carrick may get dropped…nani is frustrating at times but he has proved when he gets a few straight games under his belt hes a worldy…kagawa had a shocker yesterday but hes been brilliant since he joined so nothin against him…good to have ferdi back, i said before i thought he was finished with ref to his fitness not quality..if he can stay fit with vida then thats a big bonus…rafa who i love needs to concentrate on his defending side of the game his attacking side is all there…just think we are suffering because fergie is makin to many changes which is giving us no consistancy…the last time we truly played outstanding football for long periods was when we won tge league after a period of 4 years without it..fergie played virtually tge sane team that whole year and we were outstanding…..this playing through the middle doesnt suit us as we dont have the quality of players for that kinda football…up front yes but middle players no…playing 442 is our best way with nani and tony v with scholes and clev in the middle…hope we chico gets tge nod at wigan he made a difference yesterday and never gives up…good to see evans and jones back now…is any1 thinkin like me that fergie should find a position for jones and mould him to it as hes making him the new john oshea which isnt exactly great news….hes so talented so hopefully the manager doesnt ruin that…also de gea should have started yesterday i thought vidic eas st fault or at least equally for that goal…the wee spanaird has been quality for us and now he was dropped!!!!i rate lindagaard but hes not better than de gea…and lastly on just seen bayern got javi martinez for 30 mill…cant believe tgat fergie missed that 1…oh just for ur info i dont no how much truth is in it but my bro was just back from barcelona and he bumped into guillam ballague at a bar…hes a big united fan and said did he wreckon messi would cone to united as a joke and he told him that all jokes aside that he believes the reason fergie hasnt signed a central midfielder is because he believes he can nab fabragas next year as he doesnt believe he will b a regular for barca..ballague said he can see this happening if fabragas doesnt get much game tine which he doesnt think he will and united signing rvp will help with that deal…he also said about ronnies unhappyness at madrid but said a return to united isnt off the cards but thinks he may remain at madrid for tge rest of his career…take this news how u will but u can be gaurenteed those citeh bastards will go for fab although ballague did say he turned down citeh as he doesnt believe in there philosophyies…but money talks
FletchTHEMAN – I got to say, if it is true about this, which it is 50/50, is ronaldo ever truly happy? he wanted spain, which is understandable, then when he is making Madrid the best, he is still not happy with certain PPL, he does not seem to get both. He either gets a great city with the great weather, but he does not get on with everyone. When the city and the weather is not great, well for what ronaldo Latin ways, Manchester is not his scene, he loves everyone there. So madrid and united have been an unbalancing act for ronaldo for different reasons
Legend(Giggs) – it is not going to happen, as rooney does not want to leave, and there is no club out there that will take him. Rooney will wake up, and if he hits the heights of last season, he will stay. Ronaldo will retire at madrid for my money, As for kagwa, he is more suited to the home games, give him time and he will score goals. I actually think if ronaldo is looking to move, we could give them allot of cash plus nani and there you go, but even that I cannot see united spending another load of cash on ronnie, unless that ronaldo cash was still put into the savings to give back to Madrid, if united decide to re-buy him
dont think he wants to leave ( even though i would want it) , he waited till the window shut before he said what he had to say, maybe to avoid stupid rumours, i mean the whole “sadness” cant have cropped up within 2 days of the window shutting
My motto, Never say never.
Maybe Ronaldo is sick of the over the top and wants to come home to Fergie and the OT tea ladies. Stranger things have …..
missing the rain , fish and chips , even more rain , tea and crumpets , the english prostitutes over the sun , sea , and his GF. tbh i dont think its a footballing matter he has been quoted in saying for professional reasons and he has already told madrid what they are. if was something to do with thte club , they would have set it straight . and even IF he wants to come back , i can see his girl friend opting for a move to PSG than manchester. one can only hope.
No matter what, even if Ronaldo does want to leave Madrid. We won’t get him back. I can guarantee it.
Shitty will start throwing their money about, and can we trust Ronaldo to say, no thanks, i love United? NOPE!
I’d love it if we did get him back, but generally, cannot in my wildest dreams see it happening :\
@Nicky_Shaw
We won’t see him back at United, but I’d like to think he has enough respect for us not to go to City.
PSG? A Russian or Ukrainian club? One of the Milans? Even Bayern?
Cant be arsed to say much but I will say we played like shit. After 50 mins we couldnt pass, any of us. Thank god for Scholes. I did think that maybe Fergies double taking offf of Cleverley and Kagawa was a bit senile but never mind. I realise we won and it does show great character but had one of vPerises efforts not go in then we would be a hell of alot more unhappy on here.
Ronaldo come home fellah, fuck the glitz and the glam and be a part of this family.
Rooney + Nani = Ronaldo.
Vote for August Goal of the month:
Rooney v Hannover 96
Kagawa v Hannover 96
Anderson v Aberdeen
Wootton v Stoke City
Van Persie v Fulham
Rafael v Fulham

Good day TonyBee,
I remember thee.
Once a skinny boy,
to gin you said ‘ahoy’.
That was that,
you became fat.
A poster of obesity.
Known as BonyTee,
you ran around with glee.
Filled with joy,
and never coy.
A stomach so flat,
agile as a cat.
Limbs like a wild fig tree.
But a body like Anton Kutcher
didn’t really suit yer.
So you drank and ate,
until you put on weight.
Your appetite you can’t sate,
you’ve stretched, it’s too late.
You became a fat ‘n friendly butcher.
Today you are so big,
more baobab than fig.
Drinking beer from a drum,
putting weight on your tum.
Downing shots of rum,
has put pounds on your bum.
Just have another swig!
Age has made you canny,
fearful of your grandkids’ granny.
Not canny enough,
to cut out the gruff.
Unless you’re havin’ a laff,
don’t be so tough,
on our mercurial Nani.
I am rapidly coming to the conclusion that we should play Cleverley and Anderson together, or not at all. Both of them turm in their best performances when they are alongside each other. Kagawa looked a little lost, too. Could it be that he plays better when TC and Ando are behind him?
SAF has been talking a lot recently about how, in today’s game, teams can no longer get by with a single, dominant midielder; it is much more of a combination effort these days. I think he may be right, but combinations can’t just be thrown together. A lot depends on the styles and attributes of the particular players. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if players like Cleverley, Anderson and Kagawa work better with each other (and with others, like Nani) than in combination with others.
And given the formation, I have no idea why we started with Welbeck ahead of Nani.
Carrick was out of sorts.
But in the end, we got the 3 points–and deservedly so.

We cant leave carrick out has in my opinion he’s the only 1 at present who offers some solidarity in middle of the park, the midfield needs to be more compact when not in possesion because we leave the defence too exposed.
StatesideAussie – I thought carrick was our worst player, time and time again he was giving the ball away, I really want to see how well anderson and cleverly can do in our next home game. But yesterday was a real worry how poor our spine was, and still it raised the same problems as last season.
ex Sofia News Agency, Berbatov said:
“I might have some sort of disappointment with Ferguson. As a manager, his successes speak for themselves. I had the chance to play for him. He lost my respect somewhat because of the way he treated me.”
“I felt bad about it, I don’t think I deserved this treatment as I was the top scorer. However, the manager told me that the game is changing and that I’m becoming a little useless. I have my dignity, I tried to fight but it didn’t work out.”
“I won the English Premiership title twice, I became the top scorer. I said “Farewell!” to all those who deserved it, and life is going on.”
Stateside aussie
Couldnt agree more with u my friend carrick needs to be dropped…ando and clev play great together so should b givin the chance for a few games to see if it could work in a 433 with valencia also playin centre then kagawa rooney and rv perfect up front…i always believe we play best in a 442 but its worth a try
Dreadedred can you include a verse about me 10” cock…..
Can’t believe people trying to psychoanalyse Ronnie. Waste of time imo. Who cares if he’s not happy? Boo fucking hoo. Oh wait,PSG might.
Tickles me he lost out on personal accolades AGAIN. Chin up Ronnie, its a team game. Ha Ha Ha.
Better player won it anyway so no drama
Dreadedred can you include a verse about me 10” cock….
The rest is about right … Cept I don’t drink… Been dry for over 7 years
… also ex Sofia News Agency, Berbatov said:
“For some people Fulham might be a small team. But maybe I am not the same person I was two years ago. I need to get used to their game rhythm now.”
“Some clubs wanted me, other clubs wanted me but I never made pledges to anybody that I want to play for them. I said “yes” to Fulham but I never told the other two clubs that cried foul that I will play for them,” Berbatov declared regarding the indignation expressed by Fiorentina and Juventus that claimed Berba promised to join them.
“I choose where to play. It is normal for Fiorentina and Latchezar Tanev to be disappointed. When it doesn’t work out, one may feel betrayed but I care for my interest, the opinion of my closest people, and that’s it.”
Dry cider that is and I don’t drink it … Just fucking tip it straight in
Nice to know United outbid someone and club have at least some clout when it comes down to it. Especially nice to beat Juve after they went after our junior player. Stuff em again if we could.
http://www.thesportreview.com/tsr/2012/09/juventus-were-priced-out-of-a-move-for-man-utds-robin-van-persie/
@Dreaded. Don’t worry about the miss translations and all. Berba wanted to stay and it didn’t work out. There will be a couple efforts to make it look like there was a tussle. But I think it is all fine in the end. Maybe yes, maybe no.
FITB … yeah, Carrick had a bad one. Rare for him, imho. Have to think he’ll put it behind him.
@DreadedRed … extraordinary comments by Berbatov, if they have been accurately reported and translated etc. Well, he was a professional while he was here. I do think last season was a huge waste of his time and talent.
http://www.itv.com/sport/football/article/2012-09-03/manchester-united-sign-toshiba-medical-deal/
If this doesnt keep our boys fit and happy dunno what will. Personally i feel this could just be as a precaution for Persiee
A boy called BonyTee,
had a knob like a bonsai tree.
Gnarled and shrivelled,
about it he snivelled:
“Oh what will become of me?”
He wanted a big fat shlong,
the one he had was wrong.
In order to get length,
he pulled with all his strength,
and it stretched out very long.
No one now can mock
Tony with the 10 inch cock.
He struts around oh so bold,
and when he’s feeling cold,
he just adds a rolled up sock.
Any girl that he meets
With this line he does greet
“I’m gonna fill you full of meat
like a lamb you’re gonna bleat’
while I suck hard on your teat”
To them he does crow:
“All my meat is gonna go,
inside of you
until your eyes do
look like a butchery window.
Can we do a count down of how many times ‘dembele’ will be mentioned this season after every game? surely it’s bound to get into guiness book of records?
FletchTHEMAN and StatesideAussie
I also think that a lot was lost in translation., and that the Media will want to sow bad seeds.
If anything, Berbatov is the most entitled-to-a-moan footballer that I know of.
Yet, he has been the model of a respectable man.
His quoted comments should be taken with a pinch of salt.
Slim – there’s no way Ronaldo would go to PSG, despite his fame and wealth, he mainly makes decisions about his career, the most likely destination will be united, city.. the blue classless small club cunts with loads of money will try but inevitably fail. PSG, another oil tycoon play thing also stands no chance but whatever the issue is, madrid will work it out and he’ll probably stay but Ronaldo should’ve realised the ‘virus’ are only interested in themselves, their fans don’t care much, maybe he’s finding a way out sooner before they dispatch him if his form dips.
Ronaldo will go to either Italy or the US. If he leaves. Which he won’t.
Kanchelskis. Why be bitter?! I even stated in my comment how good it would look IF we got him. Maybe do some research, city spent fuck all this summer cause of ffp so will never get ronaldo. If you ask me, rodwell is a replacement for yaya and hes giving them another year after stating wanting to do a new challenge. Psg are soo fucked with ffp its unreal. The only team left that can affoed him with ffp is us and maybe even arsenal. I even said im writing my last comment as it being a possibility and i backed up my claim with debatable evidence, whereas all you can do is say it wont happen and hope he dosnt go to city.
Becore people say ffp will do fuck all, look what happened to ac milan this summer, think what kts going to do to citys squad
3 points for us thats what matters. I feel some are under estimating our players. Guys only 3 games have been played so no need to panic. I think carrick and Tom should be given run of games, We will be fine. Scholes should be used as impact sub.
Never say there aren’t WUM at sportswitness.
http://sportwitness.ning.com/forum/topics/cristiano-ronaldo-told-real-madrid-he-wants-to-leave-and-manchest
All this talk of Ronnie coming back to United is nonsense.
Ronnie is probably pissed he hasn’t been offerred another big contract because when he has a clause in his contract when signed for The Fascists. It was agreed he would remain the highest paid player at the club and in the world.
As time has gone on Eto’o went to Anzhi Makhachkala and got a contract where he is paid more than Ronnie.
http://www.tribalfootball.com/articles/ronaldo-hands-florentino-real-madrid-contract-nightmare-2699661
True story bro.
He nearly kissed your badge. I hate badge kissers
@DreadedRed
Making excuses for Berbatov already I see…!
Come on home Ronney.
Won’t you come home, dear Ronney, won’t you come home
We sing the whole day long
We’ll do all the cookin’ Ronney, We’ll pay the rent
We know, they’ve done you wrong
Must sing next time we play the Virus
To the tune of “Bill Bailey” for any of you young crackers who don’t know your classics!
Alpha rs, tribalfootball.com and true story should never be put in the same comment.
Ronaldo should have never gone to madrid. They are not the same real madrid that his father used to support. Real madrid has become like a hollywood destination more than football club. Manchester united could have become like them but we had Sir alex who took care of our club.
I still feel sad for ronnie. He never gets his credit. Always gets overshadowed by Barcelona. We have moved on from ronaldo. I doubt if we will spend fortunes on one player. I would prefer if we develop another ronaldo.
@ Al Farce
You’re till a pretender, I see.
@Dan-young
Perhaps but this was also mentioned on The Guardian Football Weekly PodCast a while back too.
Why would Ronnie want to come back to United? United can not afford him.
I don’t know if anybody realises, that Carrick messes up our flow in attack, when he gets da ball he passes backwards or sidewards which slows down the attack and when he does pass it forward 8 times out of ten the pass is a failed pass ?
Dr Dread beat me to it by hours
Costas it is looking better.

Great day to be a Man Utd fan!!!!!!!!
On Fox Soccer they have a show about Football Greats, a 1/2 hour show.
I saw George Best and this guy as well, Garrincha wow he was the Original Brazil WOW player!!
http://football-talk.co.uk/67533/george-best-and-garrincha-a-shared-tale-of-dribbling-drinking-and-death/
Alpha rs, he has publicly said he misses his family at united. And refused to shut the door on a return home. Also gary neville has said he dosnt think ronaldo has ever been happy there. Also we can afford him, we are currently running at about 45% of our capabilities at united in term of our wage bill. Also having arguably the best player in the world in our team the share prices when the glazers release more shares will easily go up.
What people arent realising is that a player like ronaldo dosnt just bring his on-field ability to your club, he also improves commercial income and all sorts. Something the glazers and the club do know. Which is why im following any dvelopments from this story, because it is a possibility. Ronaldo loves fergie, and this is his last opportunity to play for him
Also i need to stop using the word also :O
Ash – realmadrid Have never changed. they’re arrogant, fascist, political, greedy and dominant. They are more than a football club and always will be and i don’t get how sympathy can be sent Ronaldo’s way, madrid was his dream destination and he got it. He used united as a stepping stone. Anything can be up for discussion but i’m certain that he’ll never leave madrid, not at his current prime.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/sep/03/dimitar-berbatov-respect-alex-ferguson?CMP=twt_gu
Dimi says he’s lost respect for Alex Ferguson. Not surprising, and probably justified.
Will be interesting to see the heads explode of the people who are pround Berbalovers but also have undying and unquestioning loyalty to Fergie and his every decision, good and bad.
CR pouts that Ibra and Eto make more $$$$$$ then he does.
He decided to go to the bright lights and agreed to have that camera shoved up his ass for Real-ality TV.
He does now know how good a players has it at Man Utd. As they all do when they leave. Hind sight
Hind= ass
Hind= back side
Hind= Hiny
He is awesome as a player. If he some how came back cool.
Nate, Do your homework. Carricks pass completion rate is always 90%. He had an off day, end off. Probably contributed to by being played in games and practice as a Center back since Rio is crocked. Last season, Carrick was one of the reasons we clawed our way to the top of table. He and Scholes work marvelously together.
Carrick is not the spay it around the park player that many fans want, but he controls the game in front of defense when that type of player is needed. It is true that United have converted him from an attacking mid (spurs) to a defensive mid, but it is the game in front of him and behind him that needs sorting.
Carrick Last 2 seasons
…………………………..2010-11……2011-12
Total passes …………86.3% ……….89.8%
Openplay passes ……87% ………….90%
Last season he won 68% of the ground 50/50 balls and 78% of the aerial 50/50 balls

Not a Berba thread !!!
Watch it here Beba dudes, !!!????
He was laughed at by the gaffer for pouting!!
Played little to no defense.
A striker should be mad not to play.
SAF gave him every chance.
Not a Beba thread!!!!!!
True to many lads predictions. Complaints will turn on Carrick and Nani now that Berbatov is gone.
A wins a win. Let’s focus on what needs sorting. Figure Carrick will sort himself.
Ronaldo is under contract till 2015,the buy out clause is 1bill.He waits until transfer deadline passes the goes public, nothing else but money
Fletch the Carrick thing, wow
It was a fat Rooney’s fault for all bad performance in the Saints game.
RVP is awesome, in his last 60 pl games over 50 goals.
Just a start here. Nani is a player, a frustrating one for sure, but a player.
Tony V get back to your terrorizing ways.
Kagawa saw a rain soaked grounds. And how good the depth is in the pl. He will learn from this.
The CB’S need to settle and always have.
Fletch – some love to make things look more complicated than it is. Fact is, we’re 3 games into the season and as usual, it’s a slow start. We need to improve all compartments but we also need a settled team. Gotta keep that back line playing consistently together and midfielders like carrick are invaluable, he’s efficient and gets the job done but of course, more improvements are needed from all the central midfielders. We’ll soon gel but patience is needed.
Do you think fletcher might make the champions league squad?
Nice Sam.
It takes time. How many new players in 3 years? 15? Transfers and promotions?
Another thing is, united lost every game they fell behind in last season which showed some players weren’t showing enough hunger. This season, we look like we can drag something out of nothing, this are one of many things that makes you challenge for titles. Ideally, i wouldn’t want united going through rollercoaster style all season.
@kanchelskis
Agreed.
OK same 8 guys the Breba thing is done so old, out of respect for Man Utd and their players I have backed off. He is gone now, bad talking SAF ……….
Colbert says:
@kanchelskis
I so DISAGREE!!!!!
Zibbie – a lot of players have arrived and left the club, the manager is implementing another philosophy which gives the team other dimensions and tactics from the usual, basic 4-4-2. Some players are playing catch up in terms of fitness, some experienced players also need to stop fucking about (i’m pointing at you pat evra), we have a lot of younger players who need encouragement and belief. Wily scot is building another great team, he’s laying the bricks and mixing the cement, gradually he’ll put the roof and we’d all hopefully marvel at it soon. Patience patience and er patience is needed, let’s not proclaim doom and gloom and destroy everything with quick fixes.
For some of my mates, and those who truly love this man I will show respect. And wear black and morn. Others just shut up already. Go back on any of the past 473 Breba threads. HE IS GONE, !!! WHO IS HERE!!!
Kanchelskis… Very likely miss translated. As was the topic earlier in the thread. But kind of doubt Berbatov would start bad mouthing at this stage. I thought his Fulham shirt release pics didn’t look like the happiest player in the world and so what. Anyway, not our player, not our problem. As he said himself, 2 EPL titles and a golden boot. Not to shabby.
Samuel Sir Alex mentioned in his Friday presser that Fletcher would probably be named to the CL squad because it is a no loose situation. Fergie has 23 slots for overage plus as many under age players as desired. With our young team, United has loads of options. It was commented on on the threads on Friday if you have any interest in looking back. Cheers
Sam I see that as well. Great time to be a Man Utd fan.
Guys he is leaving soon, my guess at the end of next year. Live it, Love it. Be part of it!!!
Fletch yes I know, GO FLETCH!!!!
Such a young team and in the end will challenge on many fronts.
Zibbie, if you watched the match, you should have noticed that Tony and Kagawa were man marked through out, the person who had space is Welbeck and din’t use it!
Oh Fletch, the man is frustrated. He gets a pass.
Anyone else feeling underwhelmed by Danny Welbeck??
Its early days for this season I know but I felt he cost us at Everton and not a lot happened with him last year or with England or yesterday and I truly feel that SAF has got this one massively wrong. He is certainly ok as a fallback/sub type – but one of our regular centre forwards – at the biggest club in the world. NO.
He doesnt look like a natural goalscorer -as they say – or poacher – or target man – lighting pace? – not against Jagielka – what exactly are his strengths???
Im happy to be told im wrong but feel very worried if he keeps getting picked – especially in tough aways
200
Seriously, why u guys need to be sentimentil now early in the season? Players come and go, but the club still the same.
Anyone heard about the dippers going for Owen & Drogba? Michael Owen, of all people!
“Maybe I should’ve gone when he [Ferguson] left me out of the squad for the Champions League final [in 2011]. I know he’s the boss, but he has lost, to some extent, my respect because of the way he treated me.”
“I’ll have no problems playing against United as this already happened in my career. But there’s no point to look back again. I said goodbye to the people, who deserve it. I couldn’t say goodbye to Ferguson.”
I’m no Bulgarian speaker, but there wouldn’t appear to a great degree of lexical ambiguity in the key points of those quotes.
Capitano
I did see the game and posted such as you said. Danny looked lost.
Rooney will start LW or where ever. He RVP and Kagawa will form a rotating triangle of attacking advantage.
Rooney in the center more when a Yaya or Fellini is there. He can body up on them float back to the top of the box. Creat havoc turn and run on the counter. It is a glorious time to be a Man Utd fan.
Yes, of course Berba was mistranslated. How convenient. He’s not a fucking saint, why is it so hard to believe that he would critisise Fergie? That is entirely reasonable because of how Fergie treated him last season.
Lil Pea looked good as well. Wow he and RVP get on the same wave length.
I have a feeling Jones will get CDM minutes.
You guys just can’t stop??? OK we get it!
Colbert PUCK the same shit!
Colbert you slam SAF like 300 fucking times over your spank fantasy!!
ENOUGH ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!!
Colbert you act like it is the first time you post the same shit!!
Like a dog coming back into the room to mooch food, OH boy I have not seen you for weeks!! Oh you have food, give me some.!!!!!!!!!
Have you ever had a coherent thought in your life, you pig ignorant fuckhead? Post after post of just nothing. Nothing.
Jesus christ. Tears at bedtime at the RoM creche.
Off I fuck then.
Fuck off hater, have you ever had one original thought?
Fucking thread killer, same hate different day.
K and Colbert. Look at all the other posts the last 30. Minus yours. Some good chatter. Exciting times.
You 2 Berbagergatation!! FUCK OFF!!!!
HE’S GONE, HE’S GONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HE’S GONE, HE’S GONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HE’S GONE, HE’S GONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HE’S GONE, HE’S GONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Colbert go spank at the Berba poster above your bed.
Leaving Berba out of the CL final was the worst decision of Sir Alex’s career on every level imo.Having said that Berba should’ve put in a transfer request and got the fuck out,no point going public 2 yrs after the fact
@zibbie
So you’re having a go for me going off topic… When your first 4 comments were about
- our CMs in general
- Powell
- City and points required to win title
- defence / Evans
Shouldn’t we be religiously discussing Scholes and/or RvP?
RVP loves Paul.
4 goals in 2 games
Keeper question?
I for one don’t think he was mistranslated. He may feel justified in saying what he did, as may many others. I have to say that had I been in his situation I would have thrown a right hissy fit. Mind you, that doesn’t take away an iota of what either of the two men have contributed to the club and WE shouldn’t lose respect for either. Get on with it, and stop the sugarcoating.
“Will be interesting to see the heads explode of the people who are pround Berbalovers but also have undying and unquestioning loyalty to Fergie and his every decision, good and bad.”
I was agreeing to this. That makes me a Berbalover? You don’t even know what you are attacking me for.
Judging from your insane ramblings and thread-hogging you are clearly some kind of retard and/or a child.
Wayne you know how I feel we have talked many times. This is K and Colbert.
Me personally am OK with it. You just want to have a go at me?
There were no takers for Berba!!!!!!!!
@Dan-young
How will United be able to afford his astronomical wage bill? He wants to be the highest paid football player in the world. Taking in to account the higher rate tax difference between The UK and Spain also works against United. Also Only God Knows is his favourite line which is why he refuses to rule out a move anywhere.
Don’t get me wrong. I would like nothing more than Ronnie coming back to United but I just can not see it happening.
@Kanchelskis
Berbatov is a man of respect and class. How can he talk out against SAF. The papers are lying. This could never happen. Lolz.
If that was any other player who had spoken out against SAF these boys would be all over it calling him a cnut and all sorts. Hypocrisy if you ask me.
WOW RVP GETS A HAT TRICK MAN UTD WIN IN EXTRA TIME AND FUCKING A BERBA THREAD!!!!!!
What Berba need to Understand, is that English football is about speed and he’s a player of holding play . I think he get play at Fulham and he will come to terms with the truth . Me think Italian football would have suit him best, cause it’s slower. Anyway what he said is what he feels and there maybe more that we don’t know, hope it won’t escalate more like Tevez saga. “I have respect for both Fergie and Berbatov, and no one who should oblige the other to choose btwn the two like someone are trying to !”
@AlphaRS
The Spanish tax laws for the super-wealthy have actually changed recently and they’re more or less on our level now. But we still couldn’t afford him unless he wanted to take a pay cut, which seems unlikely. One of many reasons we can’t expect him to return.
Zibbie don’t understand what you mean,at the time Berba got fucked and if he was pissed should’ve left the following season,no point in bringing it up now.In a way i’ve lost some respect for Berba for being a pussy if the statements that have just come out are true
OK I get it now Wayne 2 years ago yes, he was wanted for 10 mill then
Wayne I love your consistent approach. And yes. I give him a pass on once letting off steam. But he is not happy to how his Club career has gone.
Zibbie says:
There were no takers for Berba!!!!!!!!
_______________________________________________________________
Cos he wasn’t for sale. United exercised their option on the 1-year contract extension and Fergie told him he’d get games. He didn’t get games.
I’m not saying Fergie outright lied to him, but circumstances just changed and Berbatov couldn’t get the game time he’d been promised. The timing was unfortunate, with the revelation of Hernandez and the return of Welbeck from Sunderland.
To an extent, Fergie was being selfish and hard-nosed, as you HAVE to be as a football manager. Berbatov ended up being little more than high-quality backup, which was obviously a situation Fergie was happier with than Berbatov was.
I’m not sure there’s anything controversial or refutable in the above version of events.
Berbatov’s comments are fair. A bit may be lost in translation but even if they weren’t I think he’s entitled. Nothing he’s said hasn’t been unknown or assumed. Non of us have no clue what it feels like, he does and if that’s all he’s got to say on the matter then my respect for the man has grown even more.
Right. What’s on topic?
Ronaldo is sad but as someone already said it might be cause he wants more money. I would take him back though.
berba critisizing SAF now will be strange but I will not be surprised I mean leaving him out and keeping Owen was just really bad. TBH in the last couople of years SAF made several disicions which many didn’t agree with and they cost us points. The game against Saints was one too. Why play Welbeck as a left wing when we have Nani, also Welbeck was most likely instructed to go to the centre and leave left empty, which made no sense, cause it’s just cut our threat in half. Either that ot Welbeck didn’t have discipline to stay in the left, which is even worse. RVP bailed us out yesterday, but we shouldn’t have been in that position. DDG is another thing too also overall rotation…The team hasn’t been playing well for several years now, so I think questions need to be asked. I don’t have the answers but I can see the problems.
One of the 2 keepers steps up, a CB combo comes together, Jones, Smalling and Evans have a few months back. Carrick late season form hits. The front 5 attacking players have jelled. CL ball could bounce Man Utd way as it did for Chelski last year.
A long and winding road for sure. Is SAF OZ?
K you hear what you want mate. SAF said months ago he could leave for 5 mill. wow just shut up and quit posting at me. You have said what you wanted and so have I.
Quit polluting ever thread with your Berba shit. Always back to insulting SAF so fuck off.
I was expecting this from berba. No surprise. I will always have respect for berba. He has been treated like shit.
@Zibbie
I very rarely bring up the Berbatov issue, so I don’t know who you’re confusing me with. But unless you’re sure you’re addressing the right person, I’d suggest you lay off the offensive language. It’s rather impolite, and quite embarrassing for you.
I’d also be keen to see any evidence, from this thread or any other, of me ‘insulting SAF’.
K you have posted well on many other things, I see your blurred vision backing Colberts hate that’s it!!!
A new day one comment from what Berba says is fine, 2 ok then Colbert and bam a thread gone Berba, Look back at my posts. I waited gave space.
Question the man fine, when Colbet comes on time and time again with SAF hate. I see by backing him shared blame, Just let us pass on this one my bad. I’m done with you on this.
Colbert I’m not done with.
My bad K I ran over you aiming at Colbert. sorry
Time for food and a buzz. GO MAN UTD!!!!!!!
I did wonder why Fergie didn’t release a statement about Fergie’s departure like he did with Wes, O’Shea and Park. Now we know. I said last week that if I was Berbatov I would have lashed out about a couple of things that happened during the last year. Nothing wrong with his comments from where I sit. He kept his mouth shut long enough and didn’t cause the team any problems. Oh well. Shit happens.
@DreadedRed, Zibbie
Good news about Toshiba? Hope so. Doesn’t look like they got to Anderson it time!
“My bad K I ran over you aiming at Colbert. sorry”
Collateral damage is to be expected when idiots are behind the wheel.
Toshiba have already promised United a respirator that can do a job in midfield.
*about Berba’s departure*
Maybe they will also figure out a way for Ando to lose weight. He’s been trying to for the last 3 years.
Berba has said that he lost respect for Alex Ferguson over the way his Manchester United career came to an end – “I said goodbye to the people, who deserve it. I couldn’t say goodbye to Ferguson.”
Berbatov was bound to come out with his own emotions, especially now he is not united player anymore but the manager is renowned for his ruthlessness, he does what he sees best for manchester united, he hasn’t got to the stage he is by trying to make any players happy. I respect berbatov as a man and a player but all the bickering won’t help. Maybe the manager should have told him straight away that he wasn’t needed and he could be treated better but that would be at the detriment of the club. United also paid 30+ million for him and deserve the right to keep him. It’s all got distasteful but best to move on.
@Proverb
SAF didn’t even deserve a goodbye. SAF brought him to United and gave him an opportunity to win The Premiership and he didn’t even deserve a goodbye?! Lolz.
What a wanker. Where are all the Berba lovers now?! Ha.
We all know who are the Berba haters, don’t need to bother with what they think. To me its simple
1) He really say that. And I feel he was justified to feel that way. And if you would just look at the big picture, the 5m Fulham paid just about covers his wages for the extra year of contract United invoked, they didn’t earn anything. So technically United tied him up purely just as a backup plan in a worst case scenario of all our strikers out injured. Would you be pissed? I definitely would
2) He got mistranslated. Which I think so, because the language within the article seems respectful except for that single word.
Either way, he is entitled to feel disrespected. Any the funny part? We have posters here saying nobody is bigger than the club, Sir Alex included, so they have the right to question Sir Alex. And these are probably the same people who are going to jump at Berba’s “quote”, finding fault with him for saying his piece.
So much for DimmyLove:
“I don’t think I deserved such treatment at United – not playing in the last year,” said Berbatov. “I went more than 10, probably 15, times to ask the coach if they need me. And every time I was told that I’m an important player and should not leave, but then again I was not in the team.
“Maybe I should’ve gone when he [Ferguson] left me out of the squad for the Champions League final [in 2011]. I know he’s the boss, but he has lost, to some extent, my respect because of the way he treated me.”
Dimitar Berbatov has said that he lost respect for Alex Ferguson over the way his Manchester United career came to an end – “I said goodbye to the people, who deserve it. I couldn’t say goodbye to Ferguson.” – What are your thoughts?

Chicharito & Rooney were very good. Therefore, Sir Alex had no choice but to keep Berbatov on the bench. Anyway he is a good player but could not compete with these strikers because he cant even mark. Even Wellbeck is better than him as he is mobile. As for disrespecting Sir Alex well thats his call Man United will remain united without the respect towards their coach from Berbatov. Sir Alex is better than any person at Manchester as Blanc, Cantona; Stam; Pique; Beckham; Ronaldo, Rooney and many more.
@Samuel
Not saying this in hindsight, but he should have been sold last summer. It would have been more beneficial, no matter how you look at it. In the last 12 months, he didn’t score any crucial goals, he was sold for peanuts and he grew bitter. I have no issue with the manager being ruthless mind you. That’s why he’s managed to reinvent the club time after time. But leading any player on (Kuszczak had similar issues with Berbatov) doesn’t strike me as a ruthless decision for the good of the team. Heck, Macheda or Diouf would have been better suited as out 4th choice striker.
i’m still a Berba lover and have said this before don’t ever remember any player getting worse treatment,my only point is Berba should have put in a transfer request after the CL final,so really only has himself to blame and i don’t see the point of him airing these feelings now, shows a lack of balls imo
People making excuses for Berbatov speaking out against SAF makes me bawl…!
The man who enabled Berbatov to win 2 Premier League titles and he is not even worth a goodbye.
apparently because he was mistreated by SAF? Feck me what is he a little girl? I’m sure his bank account swelling made him feel alittle better…! Oh mommy my feelings are hurt. So what? The interests of United will always be greater than individual players. But obviously Berbatov is class…! Lolz.
Marq – berbatov did not do it week in week out, it is that simple. The boss is not here for sentimental reasons, many loved berbatov, I did not, I respected his 3rd season at united, but at the end of the day he was not good enough for united, it is that simple. The boss should take some of the blame, for failing to realize he did not fit into the united mentality or the system. Look at RVP, he came from a club mentality like arsenal, he comes to united and he leads by example, he fucked the pen up, got back on the horse and put it right. That is what you have to do to succeed at a club like united
Wayne – I agree with you. If you feel unfairly done by,talk it out or get the fuck out – no point in playing coy. Never works.
@wayne
Hi mate. Maybe last summer was one of those times where he was reassured that he was part of the manager’s plans. Like I said, I wish he and the club came to an understanding back then. Would have saved everyone a ton of crap. Personally I don’t mind him speaking out now. I admired his stance over the last 12 months because he didn’t want to cause trouble. But he never claimed he was over the moon either.
Did someone actually just post comments from the official manutd facebook page?
http://tinyurl.com/9ya72tf
As I said Fletch sidwards and backwards pass so obviously his pass % would be gd, even when we are playing gd he does slow down the flow of attack
Well….
My view on that is he’s not the first player to leave the club and afterwards badmouth fergie
That’s why I think he has his own reasons for saying that about the manager
But during that time he was being benche it was either because he was either not deserving a starting place or because the system we had to adopt didn’t favour him at all.
He’s a quality player but did fit in at united
As I said Fletch sidwards and backwards pass so obviously his pass % would be gd, even when we are playing gd he does slow down the flow of attack.
@fergie is the boss
Exactly RVP fecked up the pen and thought feck this for a laugh and banged in a few goals to make up for it. He didn’t mope around the football pitch thinking oh look my feelings are hurt I am going to curl up in to a little ball and cry myself to sleep.
Berbatov had one good season but when the feck did he ever score against any top teams? He scored a hat trick against Liverpool but who else? They aren’t even a top club anymore.
I will never forget when SAF played one legged Rooney against Bayern at home rather than Berbatov. That spoke volumes about what SAF thought of Berbatov.
RVP looks on a different level to most strikers, fucking shocking Arse would let him walk should have just paid him the 200k a week, not going to replace him that’s a fact
Have you people actually read the WHOLE article? Need me to paste it here? The tone of the whole article was nothing near disrespectful
@AlphaRS
Mind doing something before you post anymore, you are making yourself look silly. Tell me how many winning goals Berbatov scored that season?
Costas – i agree that to avoid all the aggro, Berbatov should have been allowed to leave much earlier but we also have to realise that if he did at that time, we’d be left short up front, it would have been potentially bad decision. Berba is a human being and was bound to come out with an outburst but whilst at the club, he behaved accordingly and therefore, he won’t get any lambasting from me. I’m guessing his words have been mistranslated but if those are true quotes then personally, berba could have expressed himself without claiming he’s lost respect for the manager, perhaps things could have been handled a little better
I’m hoping he and sir alex will get things mended by contacting each other. The manager has fallen out with players but first and foremost, his intentions are to keep the club going well and i can’t really do anything but commend him for that. Ideally, rational view would be needed in this situation.
Zibbie – if you don’t like berba díscussions, you are free to stay away. Str said so himslef, “if you don’t like it here, then leave.” But there is no place for guardianship or bickering on the blog.
@Marq
Berbatov saying he’s lost some respect for Sir Alex = Berbatov is disrespectful in some people’s eyes. As if the guy isn’t allowed to feel bitter.
Everyone should relax. It’s not like Berbatov mocked the manager behind his back in public. Oh wait…
he reached a time were he couldn’t prove his class 9 games without a goal
And his work rate is non existent so that didn’t help proceedings
If Alex Ferguson benched me in the Champions League final in a season that I won the league for United, and put Michael Owen in my place (and then not use him), I’d lose quite a bit of respect for him too. Unlike Tevez, Berbatov actually had a real grievance. He could have left in 2011 after that supreme insult, but he was told by Ferguson to stay because he needed him, but even though he scored 7 goals with only 5 starts, he was still benched. We lost the league on goal difference remember. If Berba was in his early 20s, it wouldn’t be a problem, but when you’re 30 and warming a bench, and as Berba said himself, “being paid a lot of money to do nothing,” then it is time to leave.
People here talking about “Fergie enabled him to win two league titles,”. After Ronaldo and Tevez left in 09, he didn’t win it again until 2011, and Berba’s 21 goals is what made the difference, so don’t try to act like he just got the league title dropped on his lap. It’s no surprise that Berba said something about his relationship with Fergie after he left. He wouldn’t be the first. Even Keano still doesn’t talk to Fergie and said in an interview on Irish TV not long ago that he will never speak to him again.
Fergie is a professional, he’s a strong man who doesn’t need to be protected from words. He has had no problem falling out with players over the years, a lot of it his own fault (such as infamous football boot to beckham’s head incident). He also is not immune to making considerable mistakes, even after 25 years. I’ll always love Fergie and respect his decisions because of who he is, he’s the boss, but I’m not going to pretend that Berba is the new Tevez. He was mistreated in the latter half of 10/11 when he got the golden boot and won the league, and still stayed around on assurances from Ferguson that never came to light. Just go back over the last season of this blog and see how many draws or losses that StR was asking repeatedly.. WHY is Berbatov on the bench? It made no sense than and it still makes no sense. We rave about Welbeck, even though he was anonymous for a lot of last season and hasn’t even started to look sharp this season. I guess people just who to hate and who to use as a scapegoat and stick with it.
I have no problem at all with what Berbatov said at all, he is 100% justified to say how he felt. For those saying he should of left after missing out on the champion league he says Ferguson told him he was important to the team, obviously Ferguson went back on his word as he didn’t us him much. Berbatov had a better goals to games ratio than Welbeck and Hernandez but still he was kept on the bench. He wasted a year on the bench because he was given the impression he was needed. So if he wants to say how he feels let him because if I were Berbatov I would of kicked up a fucking storm. I have a lot of respect for Berbatov and a lot for Ferguson but you can’t expect everything to be rosy between players and managers. They are human beings and sometimes they fuck things up, Ferguson is not perfect and he did not treat Berbatov right especially when we see how he bends over backwards for Rooney.
@Samuel
If he managed to reconcile with Stam, then anything’s possible. Well not anything. Roy will always find something to be bitter about, lol.
I’ve heard a lot about the possibility of those quotes being lost in translation. Actually I hope that’s not the case. Because 9 times out of 10 it’s an excuse when a player realizes that his comments have landed him in hot water. Tevez did that numerous times. In the (tiny) chance that his comments were misinterpreted, then I am all for it. But we don’t need any PR stunts here.
Anyway, he aired his disappointment just like others have and he chose a harmless time to do it. Now it’s up to him and Fergie to work it out, because that’s where the problem lies and nowhere else. We move on.
Shinji Kagawa named Manchester United’s Player of the Month for August.
Well done swags.
My respect for berba is hanging by the balance
I’m sure fergie will say something about this
And I can’t wait until the ABUs ask him.
Imo berba should of shutted his mouth
Badmouthing the manager will not help it
@Proverb –> He kept his mouth shut for a whole year. He’s not a United player anymore and he didn’t badmouth him. He said he lost respect for him. He didn’t say he was a bad person like Tevez did, he focused only on his personal dealings with Fergie, dealings which he clearly found were shady. As did many United fans over the last 12 months and a bit longer. As I said already, Fergie is a big boy, it’s not the first time he has been criticized in what I’d see as a LEGITIMATE fashion by an ex-player.
@Marq
People like you who talk about Berbatov like his feelings were hurt which gives him some sort of right to talk about SAF through press in a negative like his feelings are somehow more important than United make themselves look silly.
Out of 32 Premiership appearances he scored winning goal on 7 occasions. My point being he failed to score against man city, Chelsea, and arsenal. Top teams he couldn’t deliver against. Who looks silly now?
Check this out lads
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFAax_lT74w
Costas – the idea of big bad jaap stam standing up to a no nonsense master like sir alex brings the image of a gladiator contest but as you say, if they can sort it out, Berba will (depends how badly both parties want to sort it)
As for the translating thing, i agree. The “I no speak engleesh well” Easy way out by players. Anyway, best we all roll it aside and let Berba get on with his career, although i’d think more stirring to make the situation bigger than it is will come from the media, especially when united play fulham in the PL or cup competition.
I think more understanding should be shown towards Berba, frustrations were bound to erupt but we also should accept why sir alex made his decision, a balance should be found.
Fergie won’t be upset by Berbatov’s comments. Everyone knows how ruthless Fergie can be. He bent over backwards to get Berbatov and obviously made him feel wanted but he never hit the ground running and failed to shine in big games in his first season and Fergie clearly had doubts and soon Berbatov felt very much on his own. I have sumpathy with him. He was top scorer in the league and still it wasn’t enough to convince Fergie, even last season he came in and scored 5 goals in 2 games over Christmas and New Year and didn’t start for an eternity after that.
StateSideAussie @ 11:33: “I am rapidly coming to the conclusion that we should play Cleverley and Anderson together, or not at all. Both of them turm in their best performances when they are alongside each other. Kagawa looked a little lost, too. Could it be that he plays better when TC and Ando are behind him?”
I don’t disagree – what I think that this means is that the absence of DarrenFletcherinho is a key factor in that with him in his “football genius” mode then SAF would have two pairs who could provide very, very different styles.
Purchasing KagawaBunga – not RVP – was the key move this off-season. KagawaBunga’s purchase signalled an intent to forge ahead with a different style of play. The purchase of RVP was more on the order of flexing financial muscles – and a damned-good thing, too.
From what I’ve seen CSKALondon have been fairly lucky so far while I don’t think that L’Arse will have the firepower to effectively replace RVP. So, it’s likely to be a two-team race again. After three games – out of 38 – it’s not a tragedy to be just one point behind the noisy neighbours. Never forget that SAF always wants to be “there – or thereabouts” by the new year so he can get his charges to kick it up a gear when the going gets really tough from February onwards.
TheLads are already blighted by one injury and trying to find ways to incorporate new players into a new mix while bringing back injured players – if this run of bad luck continues for UTD (BUT NOT for ManShitty) then it’s going to be deja-vue-all-over-again. BUT IF Fergy figures out how to use his attacking players and doesn’t get hamstrung with injuries then I’m still optimistic.
Costas Berbatov was 100% class in his dealings with the team and the fans. If he choose to air a bit of regret then that just shows he has feelings about it. I bet, in hindsight, we won’t here much more about it.
2 EPL titles and a Golden boot. Plus many sensational moments.
Hat trick home to ‘Pool.
In my view, if he holds his peace, he will be a red that I treasured on this team.
Think we should let it rest and see how this plays.
Alpha RS, I like how you failed to mention his hat trick against Liverpool. By the way he notched against Chelsea twice. Berbatov never really fitted in how we all would have hopes but I do think he was treated harshly. Fergie is not afraid to upset people and I don’t think Berbatov’s comments were over the top.
@Dela you are so fucking spot on about what you said.
I’m not going to dwell on Dimmy’s comments but they are surely embarrassing to all of those who backed this guy when he was silent.
Dimmy is probably right that he should have left after the appalling misses in the 2011 FA Cup semi-final gave SAF reason to keep him out of the CL-final squad. Obviously, last year was embarrassing for him – but he signed for a big club with eyes wide open, knowing that he was expected to be something more than the proverbial “square peg in a round hole” and that he would be expected to perform consistently.
Life at the top in a results-driven business is tough – and when the going gets tough the tough should get going. Dimmy didn’t – and he has to look in the mirror to understand why he lost his manager’s confidence.
Blaming SAF for his own failure-to-perform is simply embarrassing – especially since he didn’t seem to confront the manager face-to-face, man-to-man when he had the chance to do so.
@AlphaRS –> He scored the winning goal on 7 occasions in a league winning season. After January, he started most games on the bench behind Rooney and Hernanez. He didn’t start against Chelsea at OT, and I’m fairly certain he didn’t start against them at Stamford Bridge when Rooney scored, but we lost 2-1. He didn’t start against Chelsea in the champions league either. I don’t remember whether he started against Arsenal or not, but he didn’t start against City in Feb 2011. He only started in the FA Cup semi final cause Rooney picked up a two match ban, and he should have scored in that game for sure but it didn’t happen.
You can’t score against the big teams if you aren’t in the bloody game, and on top of that you are unlikely to score if your job is to hold the ball up and wait for the likes of Rooney to get in position, and then provide it to them, which is the job Berba was made do in the 08/09 season, then the 09/10 season. At the start of the 10/11 season, when Rooney was playing his worst football potentially of his career, Fergie had no choice to make Berba the main man and he delivered. In the latter half of the season, after Rooney’s contract saga was forgotten and he kicked into form, Fergie paired him with Hernandez instead. You can’t score if you are sitting on the bench.
@Joffrey Barathron
I have mentioned he scored a hat trick against Liverpool in an earlier post. Yes they are big rivals but hardly a top team. Scoring against top teams I mentioned was about that season.
However in 5 years at United then he only scored two goals against Chelsea?
Do you see the point I am making now?
@Dela
So he wasn’t good enough to be in the starting 11 when playing against top teams?
Hmm. Interesting.
Ferguson better not try the Berbatov treatment with my son Hernandez lol. Like I said Berbatov can say whatever he wants, even if it was lost in translation nothing of what he said was at all disrespectful. If you want to look at disrespectful look at Tevez and he continues to be.
denton 100% wrong when it comes to me not embarrassed one little bit,to this day i think he’s better than Danny and Hernandez and also believe Sir Alex got it wrong. If Berba had played more games last year Utd would’ve won 20 imo
@denton
I backed him when he was silent and I don’t feel embarassed at all. I’d take his stance over Tevez’s any day. He kept his thoughts to himself, that’s all. At a time when we were going head to head with City for the title, we didn’t need “Berbatov lashes out at Sir Alex” headlines.
And I don’t see where he blamed the manager for his failures? His problem was that he was lied to about having a role in the team when he clearly didn’t. Not that he wasn’t picked.
I don’t see why anyone has a problem with Berbatovs remark, seems pretty mild to me.Personally I would have told Sir Alex to take a running fuck to himself quite some time ago were I treated in the manner he was.
@Fletch
I fully agree mate. All this is, is Berbatov admitting his relationship with the manager deteriorated. He wasn’t the first and won’t be the last. No need to blow it out of proportion and start the same old Berba debating that got old 3 years ago. No one made their minds about the guy today anyway.
@denton davey
Appalling “misses”? The first was a good save from Hart, he got out quick and planted himself in front of Berba and stopped it. He saw the danger and responded. Berba should have scored the second, but he was on the stretch for it and only made contact with his toes and it went over. Still, he should have smashed his leg at it, groin be damned, and I was disappointed he didn’t score.
Now, onto your comments about his performances, I’ve already pointed out that people here seem to think he underperformend because they don’t seem to get the job he was told to do in his first two seasons at the club. Even Fergie said himself in a press conference one time that he had no problem with Berba’s lack of goals, because his presence was making goals, he said he wasn’t playing him in a goalscoring role and he wasn’t. But still, fans couldn’t see over the £30 million fee (which Berba didn’t set…) and kept kicking the same dead horse with the “he should score more” line. Then Sky Sports should have shut them up when their analysis showed he moved and worked as hard as any other player on the pitch, but nope, still the hate, until he finally got to be played as the main man up front and delivered.
Please point out to me where Berbatov blamed Ferguson for “underperforming”. What Berba actually said was he asked Fergie on multiple occasions if he required him at the club or not, and Fergie urged him to stay, saying he had an important role. If you are a 30 year old player like Berba, and being paid the money he was, you don’t want to be sitting on the bench.. so, if you don’t need me, then tell me, and I’ll leave. That’s why Berba said he lost respect for him.. Fergie was dishonest with him and he lost a year of his precious few years left in the game. He didn’t however, insult him like Tevez did. He didn’t defame him either. He just told his grievances when asked about them without doing so in an insulting manner.
To say he blamed Fergie for his underperforming is putting words in his mouth.
Berbatov has not said what evryone here has not felt at one time or the other. I wish people will stop making excuses for Fergie and see that he did treat the man badly. Why promise him playing time when you had no plan to give him. That is deception and is capable of tarnishing his image. I will not hail Fergie on this one maybe on another matter. He needs to learn to keep his words and stop all these lies, its ridiculous for him to tell us he said berbatov was leaving since last summer.
@Costas — You are god damn right. There is literally nothing to see here, it’s just some comments Berba made to somebody that the ABU media will attempt to use to turn him into another Villain, and sadly, a lot of United fans will pick up on it in that way too.
What really strikes me about this thread if we’ve seen specific things brought up, such as Denton bringing up the misses Berba made against City in the FA Cup semi final two seasons ago. Who the FUCK is held to the same standard? Can you even name a terrible Rooney miss from that season? I don’t know why Berba has had the magnifying glass treatment from day one, it really shocks me.
TYPICAL HATER SUMMING UP BERBA AT UNITED…
———————————–
In 08/09…. he’s not scoring enough goals considering we paid £30 million for him. In 09/10….. Ok, he’s scoring more and helping Rooney out a LOT now that Tevez and Ronnie are gone… but he.. um.. DOESNT WORK ENOUGH!!…. In 10/11…. Eh… Ok he’s the only person scoring at the moment he scored a hattrick against Liverpool for the first time in 64 years… but hey it was an under-strength Liverpool anyway (despite the fact that it was 2-2 before he scored the winner) and five goals in a game would impress me if it was Chelsea and not Blackburn.. who cares if he scored the decisive goal in 7 games being the difference between 7 and 21 points, he should have done it in EIGHT!… In 11/12… he’s shit, he can’t score. He’s useless…. ye ye whatever who cares if he has a better goal ratio than Welbeck or Hernandez, and we did lose the league on goal difference…… He was never Untied quality anyway (And i’m perfectly qualified to judge that)…
————————————————
Ye maybe that above is a little bit over the top but there’s a lot of truth in it. Berba was held to a higher bar than any of his teammates. Rooney went MONTHS without scoring a single goal, then had a stupid contract saga, and even as recently as Xmas he had to be benched by Fergie because of his behavior but nobody remembers. Nobody remembered he wasn’t playing in the FA Cup final against City because he was suspended (ye, it was harsh, but don’t scream Fuck at a TV camera, even if I did love it at the time). Nobody remembers each game where his first touch left him down to our detriment. Nobody remembers the amount of times Welbeck failed to make an impact last season, Hernandez’ rampant offsides and so forth. I’m not hating on those players.. it’s called form, and they play in the most difficult league, but my point is.. NOBODY REMEMBERED, but people always remember the negatives with Berba.
@Dela
Sadly I can’t blame the ABUs for this mate. Like Samuel said, they might bring this up the next time we play Fulham but at this point, it’s only our fans that still discuss the topic to death. We’ve gone from one comment he made about the manager to discussing for the millionth time why he wasn’t picked in the big games, why he missed the odd sitter or why he didn’t score more goals. Honestly, I don’t care about reopening those topics. I’ve discussed them to death and my opinion won’t change just like no one else’s will. And some choose to completely bypass what Berbatov said today. Which I kind of understand because when you look at that and nothing else, you can’t help but know where he’s coming from.
@Dela
What has Berbatov done for United. Other than the 20 goals he scored in one season out of five?
http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11681/8049166/Berba-Fergie-s-lost-my-respect
I have read things on this thread that are absolutely unfounded. Everyone should just read the comments that Berbatov made in the link above and that should be the end of it. Saying Berba said this and that when he didn’t is out of order. The man didn’t attack Fergie, it’s been confirmed that their relationship broke down, it should be ‘end of’.
Berbatov should’ve left after the 19th but it seems winning a golden boot made him think he HAD to start. Not at United sunshine! The Tea Lady will get a shirt number if she can do the business on a cold monday night and thats the way it should be! End of.
Dimmy should’ve retained his dignified silence and left in peace imo. People are saying he’s got a right to have a go… yeah? Well what about when the manager spells out in plain English just how irrelevant Dimmy became? Will that be ok with you lot too? I doubt it.
The way I see it, how can Berbatov complain about unfair treatment when Hernandez and Welbeck personify how FAIR we are? Meanwhile City and Chelsea refuse to play a lad like Sturridge? Come off it Dimmy is talking BOLLO calling our selection policy unfair.
I don’t go for this mistranslation stuff either. There were no problems when him and his manager were heaping praise on the Club. If anything they must be cap in hand looking for pity, or looking for a bigger Club. EItherway he doesn’t have a leg to stand on.
So yeah, still a quality player and all that but he should just admit it didn’t work out. He also should’ve left at least a year ago instead of playing the faithful martyr and resenting it. He has nobody to blame but himself and pointing the finger at the manager ain’t Classy.
No love lost.
Lets not talk about Berbatov, he was a great servant to the club and was a great professional, but he has gone now, whatevers done is done, wishing him the best of luck (not against us obviously) lets move on.
Anyway the No.9 shirt is free, if a team can change shirt numbers mid-season,because i am not sure about that one.

‘I already knew about Cristiano Ronaldo’s statements and they don’t surprise me’ – Jorge Mendes… http://t.co/QlwiJzxm
@AlphaRS –> Firstly, it was 4 seasons, not 5.
His first season he played a very limited role because he was in a team with Rooney and Tevez, and Ronaldo was in the same team. IIRC he scored about 5 goals and got a few assists. In the 09/10 season, after Tevez and Ronnie moved away, he played off Rooney who was scoring for fun with his head. The season you talk about, where he scored 21 goals, we actually won the league by the way. We didn’t win it last year when he was condemned to sit on the bench with a better goal ratio than Welbeck.
Look, if you want to hate the man, fine. I have no problem with that, but don’t try to mask it as something else. He had more of an impact in his few seasons at the club than a hell of a lot fan-favorite players, like Tevez, or Alan Smith, ever did. It took him two seasons before Fergie played him in the leading role, and he scored 19 goals by January or so, then lost his place to a resurgent Rooney and of course, Hernandez. He spent the best part of the next season and a half on the bench, which in my opinion (and a lot of people’s opinion it would seem) was a dire mistake and at times, indefensible. That being said, I’m not going to bash Alex Ferguson for making that decision, he is the boss afterall, but I’m not going to get mad at Berbatov either for stating (as someone said earlier) what most of us were thinking over the past 18 months, that he was being treated, at the very least, in a bizarre manner. All Berba did was say something we already know.
WOW Berbatov lets rip at Fergie. The best thing for Fergie to do is to ignore this in order to stop it from getting uglier. I can’t really say I’m surprised. I expected him to do this a lot earlier. Unfortunate he couldn’t make it here. Good luck to him.
Dear Glazer’s, If you find it within yourselves to stump the cash to bring Ronaldo home, im sure 99% of us will forgive you.
Dela, God bless your sweet soul. If your argument doesn’t sway haters, its simply because they are haters. Its still a sore topic with me anyway. Just wanted to give you a thumbs up for your post on this thread. Costas, Slim and Jeet too
For all you nutters harping on Carrick having a bad day.
BFTGT Blog @BFTGT
Michael Carrick vs Southampton: More passes than anyone on the pitch (115/126) and more attacking 1/3 passes than anyone (25/29) #mufc
So just shut up will ya! We won the game and Carrick looks to have put in his usual shift. As I said above. The problem isn’t Carrick, it’s central mid not holding the ball!
People are going really anal over berba..
Berbatov’s comments are well founded.
I didnt know he asked 10-15 times if he was needed by Fergie to get the response ‘yes your an important player’ to then keep leaving him out and I thought Fergies treatment of Berba was shoddy and now even more so.
The return from the other strikers and last seasons general performances weren’t exactly awe inspiring and Berba could of offered something different, after all he was our previous seasons top scorer and most important player in getting title number 19 and there is no doubting the guys class.
The second Fergie forced the contract extension to then treat him like that he betrayed the trust of a man who had done no wrong in my eyes and still after the comments I feel the same way as the treatment he has endured over the last 1 1/2 years by Fergie was shocking.
Only a biased idiot with serious red tinted spectacles would see this any different.
United till I die @ 19:45: “Dimmy should’ve retained his dignified silence and left in peace imo.”
My opinion, too. What I wrote earlier, tried to make the point that his misses in that FACup semi-final were crucial – he lost the manager’s confidence.
AND we all know that SAF is tyrannical – after all, he’s the guy who has said repeatedly that he is the most important man at the club; when the GreatKeane-o had a go at some of his team-mates, SAF gave him – a recent “legend” – his marching orders; when Ruuud joined forces with Keane-o to lambaste CR7, he was also shown the door; when YipYapStam created a storm-in-a-teacup, it was “see ya” despite the fact that TheBigDutchMan was a key player; same with BigTimeCharlie, Kanchelskis, and loads of others like SirDavey whose star-gazing got in the way of his professional activities.
What I find disingenuous about Berbatov’s behaviour is that he waited until he was out the door before voicing his displeasure. It’s not that he wasn’t pissed (or miffed) but that he toed the party-line until he was able to speak freely without recriminations from the dictator. The way that SAF runs the show at OT is not kind or democratic – it’s “my way or the highway”. As he said the other day, if a player begins to think that he’d be better off elsewhere then he’s going to be elsewhere. Dimmy really should have maintained his dignified silence and taken the high road out the door.
BUT, let me say it again, I am not – nor ever have been – a “BerbaHater”. I was thrilled when he was signed and, perhaps, it was the high hopes of his finding success among a set of great team-mates that created unrealistic expectations which Dimmy never fulfilled. In the cold light of analysis, Dimmy had one great half-season in four years at UTD. Whatever the reasons for his lack of success in the other seven half-seasons, in a cut-throat and results-driven business like EPL footie that’s not good enough.
The two misses in the FACup semi-final (OK, maybe Joe Hart did make a really good save on the first one !) were crucial – no, it’s not fair, but I don’t make the rules (SAF does and we know he’s dictatorial). Losing at Wembley in an FACup semi-final was blamed on Dimmy’s two misses and the proof of that pudding was that he wasn’t even given a place on the subs’ bench for the CL Final two weeks later.
In fact, even when he was crucial in winning that away-match against Wigan the next February, the damage was done. SAF had made up his mind – and, in a dictatorship, he had the final word.
Of course, SAF was economical-with-the-truth in his public statements – that goes with the territory. AND, if he was also economical-with-the-truth in his private statements of “support” to Dimmy then I’d say that Dimmy was getting lousy advice from his agent – and not paying enough attention to what had happened to other talented players who had lost TheGaffer’s confidence.
It’s all a bit like:
Rule # 1 – SAF has the final say;
Rule # 2 – see Rule # 1.

Wow you say what???????
Your Berba love is way off dude. Go tell the teacher then?? WTF???????
Your constant berba rants see how many other say the same fucking thing dude!!!
@Ironbrand –> Ye, it’s not even that I expect everyone love the guy, I just would like to see him get the same level of treatment as everyone else. We’ve seen Rooney massively underperform at times while Berba has been here, as we are now IMO with Welbeck who is in Fergie’s first XI automatically, but we don’t see either get the same level of consistent criticism and at times, hate, as Berbatov got. I don’t really get it. I just wish some people would admit they simply don’t like him and leave it at that. I also don’t like how his comments on his relationship with Fergie have been blown massively out of proportion already.
But ye, it doesn’t really matter now anyway, he’s not a United player anymore.
Off Topic… but did any of you watch this video????
http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2896/premier-league/2012/09/03/3351596/liverpool-might-never-break-into-the-top-four-again-greg-stobart-
Basically.. this video blames FSG (Liverpool owners) for Liverpool’s current position, and get’s angry about how Liverpool didn’t bring in a new striker in the summer (even though they DID sign a new striker in Fabio Borini). I personally find the video disgusting. I have no bias toward FSG, I don’t care about them, but they took over a club with £350 million of debt and making consistent losses, at a time when Liverpool was only days away from Administration. They backed “King Kenny” CONSDIERABLY. They trusted his judgment when he spent £35 million on Andy Carrol and boat loads on hyped up SHIT players. They let him blow the windfall on the sale of their best player. They put entire faith in him because he is a Liverpool legend and the fans were 1,000,000% behind him when he took over…. but since it didn’t work out, now its FSG’s fault that Liverpool can’t reach top four?
Wow! You know what, I often criticize some of the more vocal anti-Glazer protesters on here, but I’ve never heard one of them EVER criticize the Glazers for giving Fergie complete control. Liverpool fans clutching at straws again. I also love how the guy in the video says Kenny was sacked for not reaching top 4… No No… make no mistake, the super-critical article in the New York Times about how Liverpool handed the Suarez racist incident is what got Kenny fired! Everyone knows it, but sssshhhh, be quiet
Jeet this is a blog dude, you way to sensitive. Ban me talk for telling my sentiment on Berba shit, you only post the same shit it makes us sick. Now a fucking stay off warring you fuck!!!!!
Wow what a fucking fucked up place.

YOU JUST DID BOTH! WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When RVP was signed SAF said that goal difference will not be a problem anymore, But he forgot that we needed to patch up our defence and midfield as well. Winning 3-2 or 4-3 or 5-4 will on yield a goal difference of 3 .
JEET IF YOU EVER READ AND GOT MY FUCKING POINT, YOUR BLIND BERBA LOVES BLEEDS INTO
SAF SUCKS, DOES NOT KNOW WHAT HE DOES!
ROONEY IS FAT FUCK BERBA BETTER!

WOW YOU PISSED ME THE FUCK OFF ASKING FOR ME TO LEAVE UNDER THREAT YOU FUCK!!!!!!
Jeet there was great stuf till Colbert saying SAF is stupid, watch where you go with me and fucking threats!!!!
Actually a lot more sensible stuff being said about berba here than used to. Moving past him will be difficult in the same manner as it was with so many other player relationships that broke down with Sir Alex. Ruthless is a bit of an understatement when it comes to him, but we have to reconcile it with the fact that he does what he does for what he sees as the betterment of the club. When it first happened felt like Stam was the one that got away, and I had a similar feeling when Van Nistelrooy was let go, and those were much darker days, no one knew how Ronaldo and Rooney would step up. Now atleast we have Van Persie to fill the Berba sized hole. The thing about Berba that elicits particular loyalty though is the quiet dignity he displayed throughout…record signing or not, this was a lad that showed some class off the pitch. And he tried to fight for his place all the while showing genuine respect for the club. That is increasingly rare these days. Thank You for the Memories Mitko.
Ronaldo is a pipe dream though stranger things have happened.
The real concern is our style of play centering around midfield and the full back areas. Agree with the comments above that Anderson and Clevs seem to complement each other better. I think Scholesy could be our sixtieth minute, though its usually at seventy minutes, substitute. Would still like to see Tom given some more time with Carrick just to see if there is a possibility of some sort of partnership there. Carricks importance cannot be highlighted enough, though we might just have to accept the posiibility of two pairs alternating in mf rather than a settled middle two once the injured players return. Lets not forget we have jones who might play there in the short term and powell waiting in the wings. Right now though the whole squad seems like they didn’t get through a proper preseason.
No one can deny that Berba was treated harshly since that semi final cup match against shitty.
He should have left last season as the writing was on the wall that he had no future at United. We may even got more dosh for him!
@Hans — He should have left in 2011 ye, but I guess he had been told by Sir Alex that he was still part of the plan. You could be right though about money, I was wondering too if Fergie had been holding out for a better transfer fee, but I don’t see him leading on a player like that for the sake of a few million.
I strongly understand anyone who doesn’t exactly like Berbatov. Its a personal thing, I guess. Well to each, his own. Wish him well anyway. Anyone notice we don’t exactly have someone who can do those 20-30yard runs with the ball through the middle of the park past bulky players? Not talking about running on the wings.I seriously fear for our European ambitions. Hopefully, we can hold out till January if sh*t hits the fan and plug in all the leaks. Some worries about our “potent strike force” too…
Costas – no one can be compared to tevez, what he has done in the past is a total one off. Berbatov should have said, I was disappointing the boss did not start me in the CL final, or at-least put me on the bench, but he was still a top manager to work for. I did not feel it was right for him to say he has lost a bit of respect for fergie. You always learn from the greats like fergie.
But it seems to me, that berbatov’s departure was a bit similar to van nistlerooy’s departure in 2006, where fergie never chooseruud from the bench in the carling cup final, we look at berbatov’s demise much like ruud’s, where it was never the same once he did not make the bench in the CL final. The 2 final’s in 2006 and 2011 was the straw the broke the camel’s back
Where does Mourinho stand in this whole CR7 saga? “knowing how big mouth he is, he must have talked to someone about it!” I would never wanna see him near United. How can he sell young talents like Granero and Loan pple like Sahin, to take in rejects like Essien? In United we would like someone more serious who will mind about our mixing of youth and experience, which Mourinho doesn’t seem to care about. Watch the cunt he is by the way he will handle this CR7issue .
Wow, Zibbie, calm down, dear
You’re gonna bust a nut, mate and this is childish, at best
This berba discussion will never end
Cause the lazy fucker as some mouth watering in him, once he decides to show them off, no one can escape being hit by the berba fever
but once he decides to show his weaknesses
He sucks the hell…
I remember the night bebe scored a fortunate goal on an away UEFA CL game, I can’t quite remember the opposition
That night he was at his worst moods, sucking the teams energy and missing an open goal
When I see him I remember that night
He drove me nuts that to the point of smashing my new plasma.
So let’s agree to disagree guys!!!
Ok I don’t care about this whole Berba issue as he is no longer our player but why are we tryingto downplay the good work tevez did for us just cuz he joined city. He scored some VERY crucial late goals for us at his time here, Lyon in France, Spurs, Blackburn and of course Wigan with INSTANT impact. Fine he might be a cunt but seriously the man performed VERY WELL while he was here. Stop putting his contribution in the same category as alan fucking smith. Just putting that out there.
‘Mouth watering skills’
dannysoya LOVES USAIN BOLT – because the way tevez behaved towards the boss, which is unacceptable
Ironbrand – who are these “Bulky” players united will be facing in europe? and how’s is having someone that can supposedly make 30yard runs make united european champions again?

“Ok I don’t care about this whole Berba issue as he is no longer our player but why are we tryingto downplay the good work tevez did for us just cuz he joined city”
Careful, the contradiction police is after you D
The Berba debate seems to be losing relevance. If’s and but’s about if he’s treated well or not. Fact remains, he’s now a fulham player. Let him get on with his career, banging on about this will make only blow it out of proportion in my opinion.
Ok comparing Ruud’s behaviour after being excluding from a bloody Carling Cup final to Berba’s in the Champions League after being the top scorer in a record Championship winning season is absolutely ridiculous. Not least because Mr Wayne Rooney was apparently undroppable despite apparently being robbed off all his football skills by aliens for most of the season, but to inc Michael fucking Owen over him who spent almost the entire season warming the treatment table after coming back to score against….Blackpool! we knew that Chicha would not be as involved in the play & Berba’s ball holding skills and eye for a pass may have helped us out more esp in midfield. and Owen as an option on the bench offered us nothing diff, both these players need to have the ball played to their feet & they werent gonna get too many of those playing against Barca. both him and nani should have been part of the starting XI. whether it’d have won Utd the game or not is a totally diff matter altogether given “the worst Utd team in years” was playing “the best team in the world ever”. regardless the exclusion of Berba was appalling & not justified at all. his frustration with the way he was treated is completely understandable & he did show enough respect not to have voiced this while he was at the club. Fergie isn’t beyond reproach & should have treated him better than that.
At the end of the day everyone is entitled to their own opinion and you should respect that as I hear so many people bang on about here but when he does it all you can do is complain. Berbatov as our player never once said a bad word and to be honest what he said today really isn’t that bad. He was mistreated and could have said a whole lot worse. I for one still love Beba and wish him all the best at Fulham. At least he didn’t act like Tevez or Heinze when they were on their way out.
if sir alex bench a player then he presume that he was treated badly!!
to say i lost the respect for sir alex mean you don t deserve the respect of united fan
he speaks as he scored50 goals a season and fergie benched him
good luck with martin jol,sir alex got us rvp
@Denton Davy – spot on mate. I was glad when he arrived too, but im under no doubt he was told exactly how things have worked at United for over two decades. As you said, the manager is the only boss at the Club regarding footballing decisions. We wouldn’t have been so successful if it was otherwise.
As far as im concerned the Berbatov debate is over. The Eulogy was a nice touch, but Berbatov making it an issue isn’t too dissimilar from Tevez before he left. Fair enough they took different approaches but they’re coming from the same place emotionally, and thats REJECTION from a Club and manager they both admire.
Well tough titty haha. What is the alternative anyway? Doesn’t bare thinking about. Also, when you look at the managers decisions for players like Hargreaves and Fletcher, our manager in the grand scheme of things is loyal and faithful to his players. He just isn’t a mug, and I can’t hold that against him.
On that note, and Berbatov aside, the real test for our new Squad will be the next 3 games. Coming through unscathed would be remarkable but I’d honestly settle for 4 EPL points and a clean sheet against Galatasaray. If we managed that I’d be delighted, but tbf we’ve got the players to win all 3, its just a question of fitness and form. Perhaps the break came at the right time.

@Dela
I don’t hate the man at all. I think he is a very good player but he has no place in the United team due to the style of play SAF wants to employ.
I have never seen such fluidity and flowing football as I did with tevez Rooney and ronaldo in a 4-3-3. He seem to be signed to give us a different dimension but it never worked out.
The debate is irrelevant now he isn’t at United anyway. I wish him well at Fulham.
Amazing discussion today

HA YES BERBATOV SLAGGS OFF SAF THE MOMENT HE IS OUT THE DOOR – TEVEZ II.
http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/news/berbatov-ive-lost-respect-fergie-132901038.html
All you people who attacked people criticising Berbatov and making him out to be some kind of angel God – up yours – here is the true man….another Tevez and Hargreaves ungrateful cunt. No doubt you will agree with his public slagging of SAF who gave him a chance to play at the highest level that he bottled.
Slagging of SAF the moment he is out the door, making Fiorentina pay for his tickets, telling his agent to say yes to them and then dumping them and telling them “he” never said yes. Two teams Fiorentina and Juventus said his character makes him not fit to wear the shirt.
On these comments about SAF – FUCK YOU BERBATOV YOU WERE NOT FIT TO WEAR OUR SHIRT. RVP IS THE TYPE OF PLAYER WE NEEDED, YOU WERE NEVER WORLD CLASS YOU ARROGANT WANKER, HOW DARE YOU SLAGG OFF OUR MANAGER. PRICK. WASTE OF £100K A WEEK.
NBI – You’re comments are fucking way out of order.
AND ALL YOU TRAITORS JOINING BERBATOV IN SLAGGING OFF SAF.
It is SAF’s ruthlessness in cutting players when it is in the best interests of the Club that has made United what it is. You think you know better you chumps? He treats ALL players the same. If they perform, they play. The manager gave Berbatov tons of starts in his first 2 seasons and he was SHIT. In Europe he was always SHIT. He had one good season. That’s it. He was shit coming off the bench too. Even in that season that he was top scorer Rooney and Pea combo outshone him in the second half and Pea was the star with lethal finishing. None of our forwards worked well with Berbatov or developed any real understanding with him. In 3 games they have done that with RVP. Pea and Welbeck both did that with Rooney. Also the arrogant Berbatov has often said he will not change the way he plays – i.e. fuck you coach I’ll play the way I want. Was he better than Rooney and Welbeck last season – no fucking way, we scored more goals last season than we have in 10 years.
If any other player had said this – Tevez, Hargreaves about SAF, you Berbalovers would be tearing them to pieces, bunch of hypocrites. Who the hell are you to judge how the manager treated him, where you there? Are you better at picking the team than SAF? Get a grip.
NBI you’re taking it too far mate
He didn’t intentionally ‘slag’ the manager
Maybe he was lost In translation
But whatever happened, the ABU’s will have field day tomorrow
Tjis story will be in the front page

the game has gone mad
@ Rai – I am sorry but Berbatov’s comments and the defence of them has really pissed me off.
In terms of SAF complimenting Berbatov in his final year while not playing him – he has to manage the confidence of all players so they are in the right state of mind to perform for the team. Berbatov was a bundle of nerves when he started playing for United and overwhelmed to be here. What was he supposed to tell Berbatov, you suck, you’re not that good in my opinion and quite disposable, but if I really have no better options please be ready to play. He had to try to make him feel part of the team so he was ready to perform for United which is what counts. Berbatov stayed to fight for his place, he was not good enough, that’s his problem not the managers. He was treated like anyone else. He was NOT treated badly, he was paid 100k a week, he was playing at the biggest club in the world, people treated him well. Now he is showing his true sulky vindivitive childish character. Coward. He should have said it to the managers face, had it out with him like a man face to face and left. Not slagg him off from a safe distance.
BERBATOV CAN SAY WHATEVER THE FUCK HE LIKES.
It was his experience, so if he felt that way then he can say whatever and whenever. If it had been another player they would of let rip. He was treated badly full stop, it doesn’t take away from Ferguson’s achievement at all so people need to stop trying to hush Berbatov. I don’t have rose tinted glasses on so I can see the situation for what it is, I wasn’t even a fan of Berbatov but when you treat people like that it is very unsavoury.
RVP enough said
NBI Red Onion
agree with you at some points, to say it after leaving the club is a bit hypocrit and he did a what tevez hargreves and co did
but no need to abuse him,we just say to him good luck
Florentino Pérez: “I talked to Ronaldo and he didnt say he wanted to leave Madrid but he wants to end his career with Manchester United.” via connor
Very interesting!!!
First off lets be fair berbatov was far from shit, admittadly he did’nt exactly work in tandum with the pace the manager was looking to implement within the side, and at times his style of play so to speak was often deemed has him being lazy, although i do beleive that was just part of his make up. and i think 57 goals in 149 appearences is’nt a bad return at all and lets not forget is goal per match ratio was the equilvant of george best’s at united, if you see what im getting at he made a valid contribution, i love fergie but i do understand we’re berbatov is coming from
Piss off nbi. I hope that’s well and truly in your face. Fuck sake why so vindictive.
Cant fucking believe theres 2 more weeks of this. Here hoping terry shags a teammates bird and gets nabbed doing it. His arse stuck on the dailies with the same look on his face as Moscow.
I think THAT would make the break bearable.
We got to see the crown jewels not long ago. We may be due a British bulldog bollocks show
@NBI Red Onion
A bunch of players have left United “controversially” e.g. Becks etc. but they never lost any respect for SAF what so ever, but who are we to judge him or SAF on this topic because we don’t know what was said to Berba, he might’ve felt betrayed that he was given false promises therefore missing the best part of 1 and 1/2 seasons, but it is not like he was mis-firing like Torrès or Carrol he won the golden boot despite the fact that he hardly played after January, also maybe he did not want to affect the team with an outburst like … TEVEZ, so to mention Berba alongside Troll is quite strange NBI.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/sep/03/robin-van-persie-manchester-united
@Slim – piss yourself you silly bitch. Don’t tell me what to say. SAF = Greatest Manager in the World who made United = greatest club in all sport. Who the hell is Berbatov? Being treated badly implies unfairness, he was not treated badly, he was treated EXACTLY like all players at United. SAF dropped Rooney when he needed to. He decides. Its cut throat at that level. He kicked Beckham in the head with a shoe and blasted him for his lifestyle, Beckham is not bitching about being treated badly. I am sure SAF could open his mouth and put some info there too about Berba, but he has never said anything bad about him, he has always been symathetic to his position, I wait for the response…
And if Berbatov really had any ambtion and belief in himself he would be playing for Juventus. Who the hell signs for Fulham, which is not even in the Champions League over Juventus if they have any ambition or belief. And the staying in England for family does not wash, there are tons of good English speaking schools in Italy and I assume his kids are not going to go to school in Manchester when he joins Fulham.

more persure on rooney?
Anyway, last comment on this – it is cowardly not to tell someone something face to face -I would rather if Berbatov had an issue he took it to SAF like other players had and had it out fair and square like players in the past who were man enough too. Berbatov knows speaking now he has left that SAF cannot as a manager lower himself to attack Berbatov in the same way, he represents the Club and his response wil have to be retrained and he cannot dish the dirt and give his side – though I am not betting against some cutting come back.
@Ironbrand at 20:17
Nothing was going to sway haters mate. Are you kidding me? This is what they were waiting for after Berbatov shut their traps the last 2 years. The sad thing in all this is that the essence of Berbatov’s comments is completely rational. Anyone with a molecule of common sense would understand his point of view. I am actually laughing at how some have twisted this to suit their agenda. Some of the crap here was a nice trip down memory lane.
@FITB
Well no doubt he learned from Sir Alex, but it a lot of similar relationships reach the point where respect is thrown out the window. If you asked Roy, Beckham and Ruud their opinion of Sir Alex as soon as they left, the response wouldn’t have been all that different. Ask Kuszczak as well. The problems he faced weren’t all that different. It saddens me that Fergie’s relationship with any player would reach this point but really, why lie to their face so many times? It was obvious Berbatov’s career was over over a year ago.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2197890/Premier-League-season-far.html
intersting stats
@Vidic – do you not agree that if you cannot say something to someones face, and pretend you are ok with them, call them a great manager and then slagg them off the moment you are out the door, you are a hypocrite and a troll. That’s what Tevev and Hargreaves did, said it was all great then slagged SAF off in the press – and it was not a short sentence. It is Berbatov who is treating SAF badly. SAF let Tevez go to give him a chance. If Berbatov has an issue not playing, he could have had it out with SAF and asked to go in Jan. Truth was there were no bids for him until late in this transfer window despite him having a decent season year ago. No one is saying he is a bad player, its just others are better for us, SAF was100% right we needed a different kind of player, if Berba had stayed starting RVP would not be here.
*Berbatov’s united career was over a year ago*
Fuck me madhouse today, lol,Ronnie just wants more money he’s banged in 150goals and has still 3yrs to run and probably figures should be getting over 300k a week. He’s telling Real to show him the money, think that’s pretty obvious
@ Costas – if it was obvious that Berbatov’s career was over a year ago, don’t you think Berbaov knew that too? In which case a transfer request was all it needed. The Club would have sold him last in previous transfer seasons, but the only bid postulated was one from PSG and it turns out they never actually tabled a bid.
Ronny wants Real Madrid to be called Ronaldo Madrid. This still hasn’t happened and totally sucks.
Wish we could afford him.
berbatovs away if he had something to say say it to the managers face
hello fuckwits ronaldo is looking for a pay raise he aint coming back to rainy manchester
@NBI
Agree with alot of your points.
In the end SAF makes the decisions at United for the good of the club. If he didn’t feel Berbatov was good enough at United then that was his decision. Berbatov shouldn’t be whining about it like a little bitch saying he was treated unfairly. He was given a chance just like everyone else.
The good of United will alway supersede the good of the player.
Perhaps STR should put some of his latest quotes in the best Berbatov quotes thread. Lolz.
NBI
Maybe he didn’t want to be selfishand affect his teamates’ performances who did nothing to Berba, someone who doesn’t care about his teamates is Tevéz, also I guarantee you when Berba scores for Fulham he wont celebrate by pulling his shirt up to reveal the words:
“RIP FERGIE”
who ‘suprisingly’ was also was done by Troll in City’s title parade when he held the cardboard up, finally if does score against us and later on in an interview is asked: “what his best goals were in his career?” I highly doubt he’ll say: “All the ones against United” and guess who said that ?
Tevez.
Ronnie wants Real Madrid to honour the clause in his contract where it says he will remain the worlds highest paid football player. That is all.
“Ronaldo is sad at Madrid? Rooney reportedly not happy at Man Utd? Wonder if a Rooney for Ronaldo swap may be on the cards?”
Silly – or what ?
If that’s the case with all the crazy owners Real made a deal with the devil, there’s one thing we all know about Ronnie he’s loyal to himself and driven by ego and vanity
who knows what these russian clubs anzi zenit chelsea are paying under the counter how would ronaldo knows who is getting the best paid contract
@ AlphaRS – exactly mate. Football is not tea for ladies, these are tough and rough men and boys. Or at least they were. You say what you need to say, it doesn’t work out, you move on. All squad players are very important and very good if they play for United, but no one is promised a start.
@ Vidic – let’s see what else Berbatov says, I am sure no one expected this from him.
Re Ronnie, he has been hit by Spanish tax rises and only has a few million a month now, plus a supermodel girlfriend, son, famil, good looks and a life time supply of hair gel. But Gary is right, he misses English food and too much sun makes you sad. If he is doing this for a payrise, aka Rooney, not good, Madrid fans never really liked him before. Hopefully, it’s just that Mourhinio poked him in the eye or in the shower. That would make anyone depressed.
@NBI
He went to the manager 10-15 times (one of which I suspect was during that summer) and asked if he was in his plans. The answer was yes. After that, he had no reason to hand in a transfer request.
@ Costas – that’s his version of what was said. All squad players are part of the managers plan and important so SAF was honest in that regard. SAF could not have predicted how well Welbeck would do in the summer. Also Berbatov could have asked to leave in January and cut his losses, but instead he was happy to take up the one year extension he knew he was 4th choice post Jan. As the boss said, if a player is looking else where he will show them to the door. I am sure if Berbatov asked for a transfer in Jan after it was clear he was behind Welbeck and Pea he would have got it and they would not have extended without his consent. They had to do that tp avoid lettin him go for free.
@NBI
Actually the course of events support Berbatov’s version. After he scored 6 goals in 3 league games in December, he started 2 out of the next 20. There was a time when Hernandez and Welbeck couldn’t buy a goal and he still wasn’t getting picked. So in practice, it’s hard to see how exactly Berbatov featured in Fergie’s plans, especially after the December. When it comes down to it, they should have sold him last summer. He wouldn’t have said no if he knew he wasn’t in Fergie’s plans and coming off a season where he won the Golden Boot, he would have attracted better offers than he did now.
One thing that’s got my goat over the last year is the amount of of stick the Gaffer has got, when essentially he’s making decisions HE feels is in the best interests of the football club. Supporting a certain player, even feeling sympathy for him….that’s fine. But when I see stuff like “Sir Alex has treated him disgustingly” etc, that’s a load of rubbish IMO.
So because somebody isn’t playing regularly, they’re being mistreated? I can’t buy into that school of thought.
With regards to Fergie making him promises, at no point do I think he would have promised him regular football. We all know that he kept Berba on as an insurance policy (a pretty expensive one btw!). There was no guarantee Welbeck would play as well as he did last year, and no guarantee that Rooney would stay injury free. Plus there was the issue of Chicha’s second season syndrome (and concussion, which was a problem 12 months ago). Hence fergie told him “you’re in my plans”…….unfortunately for Berba, those plans revolved around him being an insurance policy.
But that’s football. Not everybody can be a regular starter. I understand people’s wishes to see berba play more regularly, but Fergie made a decision he felt was best for the team.
Costas – berbatov’s career was always on the ropes from his mixed first season, it never got any better in his second season. His third season, I thought the tide was changing, but rooney was always going to be in the boss’s plans, which always saw berbatov needing to work extra harder. Rooney and berbatov was the equivalent of? keane and veron, where veron and berbatov had better technique, and more grace in their style than rooney and keane, but the boss always did rather the power and drive of rooney and keane, who he feels and felt brought more to the party than veron and berbatov
Sparkz – some of the boss’s decisions have had my head scratching, for my money, berbatov was not good enough for united, not for the cash we payed for him. The goals were not there, the goal threat was at times very tame, and formation wise, he seemed very one dimensional. My biggest problem with berbatov was? the lack of impact berbatov would give united from the bench, but in his last 2 seasons I must admit he was capable of scoring goals, even last season he managed to get himself a hatrick, so if given enough games last season, he may have scored us more goals
People tend to view everything as black or white….success or failure. I say there’s grey.
Could I call Berba a failure? Nope, he helped us win Number 19. No way can you call someone a failure after that.
Could I call Berba a success? Nope, he never got the chemistry going with the team and rarely turned up on the big occasions, which is what record signings are bought for.
As I said….not everything will be black and white!
@ Costas – there were no offers for him last summer mate. How could United sell him. They did not exercise the one year extension all summer and right till the deadline, what clearer sign is there. If clubs want a player they don’t wait for a player to say I want to go they bid and try to seduce them and no bid was tabled last summer so what could United do, his agent is on record as touting him last summer. No one is saying Berbatov is a bad player, or that in certain games he would not have been better than the two youngsters or even Rooney on an off day, but there were patches where as the most senior player he could not deliver either and then you have 2 exceptional young players coming through both of whom linked better with Rooney and Rooney played better with them which was also key. The manager was right to bring the youngsters through.
I think you were right when you said it was obvious a year ago he was not going to be a key player. I think he loved the club and loved being a United player and he saw it through to the bitter end because of that. All United squad players are very good to be there and in the managers plans, but not always as starters, however, injuries can make them regulars, look at Jones. If the manager told Berba he was important and part of his plan, the squad is part of his plan and important. But did the manager tell him he would start every game or that he would start half the games, I doubt it. No chance. As far back as last summer SAF was publically saying Berbatov was a great player but he could understand if he wanted to play more regularly. He also said it publically several times last season.
By the way, how good it is to see Real finally getting a taste of a player pissing on them. So much for Mourhinio’s man management, I never saw Ronny behave like that under SAF.
@ FITB – 0038 – good analogy.

“I am sorry but Berbatov’s comments and the defence of them has really pissed me off.”
But the real truth is that NBI has always hated Berbatov, even calling for his DEATH!
Here’s an example of his views. Note the references to Tevez, then and now:
April 4, 2010 at 17:00 NBI Red Onion says:
“Berbaflop is a failure like Veron (though he is NOWHERE near as good as Veron) – Machaeda should play instead of psychologcal wreck slowworm Berbaf*k I hate him and I am sick of people defending him, he is a whinning little shit, when you watch a game live all you see is the little shit flapping his arms and whinging at team mates if a ball does not some straight onto his lazy foot.”
“How the f*k can people get on here and defend him? Statistically and in terms of goal scoring opportunities spurned he has the worst hit rate of the top 10 teams stricke, he is a mid-table player at best, he cannot head a ball in to the net for the life of him, EVERY time he dribbles the ball into a corner he is dispossesed or it goes out for a throw in. He is a bad signing and I am sure Fegie knows that, he tried to sign Drogba and Torres and the dude who now doesnt play for RM – Berbatov had one good season with Spurs even then, nothing amazing, I wish he had gone to City and Tevez had stayed at United, yes Tevez has been a bit of a shit but he gave his all for us and he is on fire right now, Berbfuck is not fit to clean Tevez boots he has less than half as many goals and his uselessness will cost us the title. Also his attitude sucks!”
“Sell the c*nt.”

If Chelsea get him it will piss me off. They can afford him, they paid 50mn for Torres, can’t see him wanting to go to City.
Only chance for United is they pay for him to buy out his contract – he can do that now I think – cost would be around €36 -40 million. And then pay his wages.
Vidic’s pointer of what Berba is lacking…(I think)
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/sep/03/robin-van-persie-manchester-united?
A couple of excerpt are as follows:
—————————————————————————————————————————————————
“When you are a good player,” Vidic said, “it is easier to adapt [to a new club] but I think his desire to score plays a big part. You want to play nice football and have good touches and play nice … it’s good but I think that desire he showed to score his goals, this is top-class.”
~
~
~
He is a fighter and he is not scared to play a hard game as well,” said the captain, Nemanja Vidic, who knows a thing or two about hardness. “We like him at United for that, I think. Away from home against Southampton he is not scared to receive the ball and have defenders on top of his back. This is important if you want to be top goalscorer here.”
—————————————————————————————————————————————————–
Zibbie – I understand your frustration at jeet’s comment to you. Take it easy now, you’ve made your point clearly. While we’re on the subject, did you notice that jeet actually took the words that StR directed at HIM, and made it sound like he was talking to you? Cheeky bugger! StR said: “jeet – If you don’t like it, don’t come here”, but that became: “Zibbie – you are free to stay away. Str said so himself, “if you don’t like it here, then leave.”
Got to admire the bare-faced gumption of the man!
I think I must be the only Utd fan who wouldn’t have Ronaldo back. As brilliant as he was and still is….Fergie’s spent 3 years trying to build a new team. Would be the mother of all fuck ups if he was to bring Ronaldo back IMO.
Plus, his ego was running out of control during his last season here (Sunderland, Man City etc). 3 years at Madrid has multiplied it tenfold. Nope, not for me.
In regards to Ronaldo I don’t think it is pay, I follow quite a few footballers for my instagram and a few of his teammates are really behind him, Arbeloa has even changed his profile pic to a pic of him with his arm around Ronaldo on instagram and on twitter. He seems to have the backing of his teammates, even Kaka has said Real Madrid need to do whatever it is to make him happy. Knowing Real Madrid I think they went back on a promise or they haven’t honoured a clause in his contract. If that is the case he is justified as it is a contract. Whatever it is the other players seem to think Ronaldo is in the right.
In regards to Berbatov any sane person would recognise what he said was pretty tame compared to what he could of actually said. I have no problem with Berbatov as a person or a player. I actually think had he been a trouble maker Ferguson may had sold him in 2011.
The Sun: “IT was one of the most vitriolic attacks on Alex Ferguson by any former Manchester United star. And it came three days after Dimitar Berbatov quit Old Trafford.”
mig78 don’t think Vidic is making a direct comparison mate,RVP is a fucking monster no wonder Sir Alex shelled out 24mill to get him.Gunners daft as fuck not to pay his wages they offered him a 130k lol what a insult in this day and age
Once the whole team starts ticking could be a long year for most defenses
Why the hell is this post not going through are your past names automatically blocked. Lets try this way:
@ Dreaded Red, formerly @ sma*talex and @Alb*rt Ross – the pyscho is back!!! I thought it was you!!! I take it Scott has not banned your latest incarnation yet. Come on now, go on one of your psycho rants you sad lonely little freak.
@ Sparks – pre RVP I would have definately wanted Ronny back. Now not so sure main reason as you note his sulks and that we have new exciting players. If RVP stays fit and keeps scroring the way he is I am happy for him to be the main man. We have enough good strikers at the moment.
Zibbie rushes in where mere mortals fear to tread
Zibbie – you old fool, read me carefully! You seriously thought I would seriously lay into you? And who the fuck said anything about banning anybody?!
Dreadedred – thanks so much!!!
@ Jay – any sane person would realise that they don’t have a God given right to start every game and the manager decides. Not happy, move on. Don’t take the money and whinge after the event. He was told to fight for his place and he lost. It’s not just about games, the manager watches players every day in training. He knows who looks better and who works better in the team.
The Sun: “The Bulgarian hitman savaged Ferguson for the way he was frozen out of the first team in the last 18 months of his United career.”
“I spoke with Ferguson 10 or 15 times. I asked him, ‘Boss, do you still need me?’ United’s boss told him to stay and fight for his place.
“I said goodbye to many people at United who deserved it. “I didn’t speak to Ferguson. Maybe I should send him a letter.”
Class.
Fulham fans will love how they are rated and the effort they will get: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/4519414/Dimitar-Berbatov-delivers-one-of-the-most-vitriolic-attacks-on-Alex-Ferguson-by-any-former-Manchester-United-star.html
The Sun: NEMANJA VIDIC has thrown his support behind Alex Ferguson. The Old Trafford skipper is still in awe of the ruthless commitment shown by his boss, even at the age of 70. Fergie celebrated his 1,000th League game with a trademark injury-time winner against Southampton on Sunday.
Vidic said: “He is an inspiration for us. When you look at his 25 years here you see that every year he has that hunger to win games. His positive energy he has sent to us. He has set up that mentality in the dressing room. Not just in games but on the training ground. This is important.
“And if you look over the years, Manchester United have won so many games in the last minute. That’s not coincidence. This is what the manager is asking from the players. To always go for the win. You are never happy with the draw. You are always going to the end and you never stop.He is really a person who knows how to deal with people.
I think this is a very important thing — how to deal with the players and what to expect from individuals. You cannot be the same with every player and he knows the way to get the best out of the players. This is the best part, I would say, of him.”
NBI don’t see what you’re trying to prove, longtime users of ROM know you’ve always hated Berba.I agree with you Berba should have stuck up for himself and moved on after the CL final but that doesn’t alter the fact he got a shitty deal and should have been picked a lot more than he was,so why don’t you just let it go.
@ wayne, thanks for comments.
I know Vidic wasn’t pointing to Berba, but I can’t help but to think what Berba is lacking. A fighter’s will to go against the odd. For all his talent, the fire was just never there.
But Van the Man will make our day for long to come and the beast inside Rooney, that has long went tame, will break loose.
No Manchester United supporter wishes for the death of our player.
NBI – you are psychotic.
mig78 just different personalities and styles mate, that was always Berba’s biggest problem with a lot of fans. The good thing is RVP looks genuinely pumped to be at Utd and like you said with Rooney not being guaranteed a place every week should bring his fire back.
Watching how quick RVP has settled it’s exciting times ahead he’s surprised me,probably never gave him enough credit or didn’t watch him close enough because he was with Arse
The Sun is sensationalising Berbatov’s comment there is nothing savage about his comment, nothing whatsoever the Sun are stirring and are the same paper that encouraged the abuse of David Beckham and Ronaldo. Whatever they print is to cause controversy, none of the papers have taken what Berbatov have said and made it seem worse.
@ wayne, not hated, just not rated and sick of over-lovey overrated comments making him out to be a superstar and attacking SAF for not playing him. I was happy to clap him off and wish him well until this. Anyway, I think the full range of views on his comments has been covered. Welcome to United Kagwa…! At least he can’t read English. Jeez, 3 seasons of Tevez, Hargreaves and now Berbatov slating the manager. Players have become whinging brats.
RVP after 2 games already being compared to Ruud bit early for that but let’s hope
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1321465-robin-van-persie-manchester-united-striker-will-be-next-ruud-van-nistelrooy?
NBI – you always CLAIMED to hate Berbatov. Now you claim you don’t.
A year after Tevez slated our manager you were pining for him.
I absolutely have no qualms over Berba’s comments. I was actually wondering why he’s said nothing so far. It’s the truth we disrespected him, his total exclusion from the CL squad was a shocker and a great insult you could give a top scorer. And he’s still saying he’s fulfilled a dream by joining us? And don’t even think about comparing him with tevez and Hargreaves they don’t event reach his toenails. Once again, I reiterate that bring an emotional United fan that I am, I love players that give us respect. Which is why I rate Berba. And also why I bear a massive grudge against Rooney.
Funny to see so many people getting trolled by media headlines. If you actually read the whole interview, the context of the interview, especially the “lost respect” part, was nothing near like what you people believed it to be. Its so easy to take out a few words of a whole interview and make stories out of it
I feel for Berbatov. He still has my respect and I understand his bitterness. People shouldn’t diss him for being misused last year.
We do not know what went on behind the scenes. I will reserve my judgement until I hear SAF’s comments about it.
Regarding the OP- Scholes is irreplaceable. There isn’t much point in looking for a direct replacement.
As for Berbatov, I guess ‘Berba haters’ just gotta hate. Berbatov has said nothing that was unusual or remotely unreasonable given the way he was treated. It’s pretty much desperate stakes to suggest otherwise, unless you take your cue from reading ‘the Sun’. Berbatov should have put in a transfer request after being left out of the CL final squad for Owen, which was pretty much a crass and insulting decision, given Berbatov’s golden boot status at the time, but I guess he desperately wanted to play for United.
We all need, someone to hate on!
People are berating Berba for saying something we think is bad after he has left us. But they cheer and love Rooney who insulted our club while taking massive wages just because he contributes to our successes. So that means love and support is directly proportional to success. Isn’t that similar to glory hunting?
Vidic ” we’ve had a lot of turbulence in defence..”
Vidic really hit the nail on the head.
Shipping 5 goals in 3 games just not acceptable. Exciting yes… acceptable no.
Down to lots of injuries and lads coming back.

@FootballPakistan
Nice site bro
@FletchTHEMAN
The defense has become the weakest area even more than CM. That is why I had hoped that we get an expereinced defense minded CM who could give cover to the defense. I hope Smalling and Jones gain enough experience this year to take over from Vidic and/or Ferdinand. Wootton is very young and inexperienced. We might have to buy next summer although I would love to see our young players step up.

denton davey says:
Beutifully designed post. Agreed.
We are human beings though, so entitled to making mistakes.
But when we look at ourselves and try to say that we are better than someone else and after some time for the same thing, that the latter does, it all crushes down rather quickly.
We all want fame, we all have little tyrants within us. That is why life is so interesting.
It is all about making the decisions and which desicion.
*nd after some time DO the same thing
Don’t lump Berbatov with Tevez please. Tevez played the crowds against SAF when it was apparent that he had already decided to worship the money. That’s vastly different from Berbatov. Twat of the highest order alongside Heinze.
Berba can be frustrated…. He’s entitled to his opinion.
At the end of the day, he is no longer a Man Utd player..
I hope all the current players get themselves commited to the Man Utd’s cause.
Berba might return as an ambassador when he hangs up his boots. We’ll never know the future.
Tevez will never be. He’s not even a proper role model.
i heard he wants 480,000 quids a week…astonishing
The way I see it, to some fans Sir Alex is off the criticism especially from former United players SMH!
Lets face it the man repeatedly misled Berbatov about his role at the club, at the beginning of last season we heard the man saying Pogba will feature more in the first team we all know what happened.
@KOSE, Marq, Mr C and YorYor
Cheers for bringing some common sense to this matter.
Not for nothing, but the the Berba/Tevez comparisons did make me laugh during a tough period. Talk about reaching…
@Dela
Respect.
Don’t waste time and energy fighting the haters.
Anyway, the Ronaldo situation is pretty interesting. Knowing him, he’s probably disgruntled over a money issue, lol. I hear Spain’s tax system has changed and it’s not as alluring as it was 3 years ago. Tough break. But he’s in a tough spot. He’s still in his prime and worth the same amount of money that Real paid for him. Who’s going to pay it though? I doubt even City will anymore. An Old Trafford return is still 4-5 years away one has to assume.
Haters will always hate
Silly people will always look silly
Icebergtz – you’re taking the word of a big time charlie like pogba over the manager? i’m really baffled.
Man City plotting £95m Ronaldo bid? All the transfer news, rumours and gossip from Tuesday’s papers http://t.co/D83UztQI
Liverpool are amongst clubs linked with free agent emile heskey
I’ve always championed how technically gifted Berbatov is but you look at some players and they’re not really suited to the high pressured, ruthless and demands of the highest level. For all Berbatov’s talents, he does lack that extra ingredient to push on to be more of a world beater. A player can have a beautiful touch but does he have the will and determination to drive into the box or around it to make something happen? do you sit there marvelling at your magnificent pass or do you want to get to the end of it and thump it into the net?. This is what eric cantona brought to the party and a main reason why he’s a legend. The french-man was a player of incredible technical skills but he also had hunger and determination, he was always ready and up for it when the going gets tough, he was never one to hide away from responsibility, he embraced them. Berbatov showed that fleetingly but maybe not as much as he or the manager would have wanted, certainly not enough to warrant a guaranteed first team place. His 20 premier league goal season was his best but you still knew deep down that Sir alex’s trust in him has waned, he wasn’t the scot’s go to guy, the relationship was bound to end with distaste and disappointment from both parties.
For me, i just can’t say berba failed but he also fell a little short of the expectation on him. You can say he didn’t set his price-tag or wasn’t given enough chances but he was a marquee signing, the finished article expected to knit an already formidable together. He was 27, experienced and was expected to kick-on, on the grand stage of the theatre of dreams but he never quite fully take on that mantle, i think he buckled under pressure at times but that can happen to any player.
Berbatov disrespected by SAF who put the good of United before the good of a football player? I think I know which of the two is more important. The feelings of one player are never more important than the good of United. Simple as.
A guy recovering in Manchester Infirmary had been hearing singing for a few days and discovered it was the bloke in the next bed whose arse was singing. When the Consultant came on his rounds and asked how he was he told him about the bloke with the singing arse.Is it singing Youll Never Walk Alone the Consultant asked? Why yes great guess.Well it’s not unusual a lot of Arseholes sing that.said the Consultant.
Anyone know when the results of the Tottenham ballot are out?
Wish they’d get a move on. Train fare from London is always bonkers by the time I know I’ve got a ticket.
Fucking hell, I just realized that we need to get our house in order pronto…following Wigan at home, we’ve got:
1. Dippers away
2. Spuds home
3. Geordies away
4. Stoke home
5. Chavs away
6. Le Arse home
Eases up a bit after that with Villa and QPR, but some fixture list, eh?
Ronaldo WILL eventually return to Manchester United one day. I don’t think it’s right now though cuz there is NO WAY IN HELL Fergie would EVER give Ronaldo 480,000 pounds a week. Christ. That is pure MADNESS.
Carrying on from my comments though, Berbatov was not a failure. Two titles and cups, a golden boot would say that if you ask him personally, i bet he tells you that his time at united lacked something extra. He was simply a great talent but at a wrong club which mainly is trying to implement its style for Berbatov to fit in, not the club having to fit into Berba’s style. He never fully asserted or imposed himself on turf of the mancunian reds, he didn’t do enough despite having the capabilities to do so, this will be his main regrets. He made his mark but perhaps not enough to stake a regular place. The situation could have been dealt with a little better, he should have left after being dropped for the champions league final but he stuck it out and wanted to fight in a contest he already lost a few years back. I’m objective about what happened and have analysed it well. I think we should all let bygones be, his professionallism whilst donning the red shirt should be commended, his contributions praised for what they are but mainly, we should let him get on with his career.
Yawn …… have I missed anything? Any rows or owt?
Dreadedred… didn’t mean my penis you soft tart … Meant my foot high pet cockerel … Who is gay…. Wait for it…. All he sings all day is… Any cock’ll do !!
Yawn …… have I missed anything? Any rows or owt?
Dreadedred… didn’t mean my penis you soft tart … Meant my foot high pet cockerel … Who is gay…. Wait for it…. All he sings all day is… Any cock’ll do !!
And if you can do a song outta that subject … Fair play to you ..
From Sean O’Sullivan on twitter:
“Berbatov badly mistranslated. He didn’t say he said bye to those who deserved it but not SAF, he said everything moved so fast he couldn’t. Also said that his attitude to SAF has changed a little, not lost all respect, because SAF told him he’d made a mistake by not playing him. He also called SAF “one of the greatest coaches in history”, said it was SAF’s right, & that he never moaned to SAF about not being played. Berba added that he took a wage cut to join United and that he’d have signed a contract for life if he could.”
A handful of Bulgarians that happened to listen to his interview have also verified this.
No doubt: The most vitriollic attack ever delivered to Sir Alex.
Read skysports “who could come in for liverpool” and I nearly shit myself. Luckily I managed to clench and rather biting one off which happens from time to time it popped back in. Needless to say I went off and had a wank as it felt like I was being buggered by a pigmy.
Anyway back to football – scrub that – anyway back to Liverpool. What are we going to do to stop Liverpool picking up gems like Heskey, Owen and Kewell. If the best they could do was barely qualify for the champions league when they were together and in their prime imagine what years of experience on the treatment table could bring them. A reflection of Scouse society, getting payed for fuck all work. A fan even comented on seeing Robby Keane at John Lennon (god bless his whiney sole) Airport. What about Anelka at that Chinese club. Hell why not give Fowler another run out.
When will they learn. lolololololol
@Goat
With all due respect to Owen, I find it highly amusing that Liverpool have reached the point where he and Heskey are seriously considered by them as potential targets. Seeing Heskey with the Liverpool shirt again will be as good as porn.
One would think that Drogba would be ideal for them, but the guy has some standards.
Costas
What is it with scousers and ambition, lol
Anyone know the news on Smalling and Jones????
@Goat. Ahaaaa! I predicted it was a mistranslation. Crickey. Brit rags! You do wonder how they stay in business.
If the ‘mistranslation’ had been so outrageously misleading, presumably Berbatov would have spoken out to that effect.
A source said: “Yes, Cristiano told president Florentino Perez he wants to leave the club.”
@kanchelskis
It wasn’t misleading to a great extent, but there’s a big difference between “I didn’t want to say goodbye to Ferguson” and “I didn’t have time to say goodbye”. Not to mention that the press removed any positive comment he made about the manager.
bet berba couldnt hold it longer after touching the ball after so many weeks (or even months) and let it all go at the gaffer with some astonishing statements to the press, but after all he is a human being, and being discarded like that after being top-scorer the previous season sure hurts the ego
@Costas
Yes – that’s true. Cherry-picking from interviews is often a much more effective way of spinning an agenda than the risky busines of loose translating.
I’m not suggesting Berba is anywhere near as angry as the sensationalist press would have us believe, but I don’t think we can wear rose-tinted specs on this one and try and brush off the whole business as ‘mistranslation’ in order to convince ourselves that the club and/or Fergie did nothing even remotely questionable or uinfair.
It was always going to be the case that he didn’t much enjoy his last year at OT, and I think he has every right to speak openly of that frustration.
@kanchelskis
No, I agree with that. Like I said yesterday, I didn’t find much wrong with the comments the British press posted. Of course there was going to be friction after what happened at the Wembley final and the season that followed. No one would have left the club with a smile on his face and he had a reason to feel mistreated. The club should have been honest with him last summer.
But the part about not saying goodbye to the manager did strike me as weird and I am relieved to hear that part was taken out of context.
FletchTHEMAN
Misstranslation? Deliberately missleading I say but when Murdoch gets a hand job off Cameron every other week its difficult for Cameron to be a man and tell the antipodean cunt to pack his bags and fuck off.
I dont do news papers and I dont do SkyNews (Ill look at the sports pages on skysports and thats usually only for league tables and results). I dont feel any worse off without them.
Icedearth. The most generous translations say CR doesn’t want to leave right now. That story has as many mistranslations as the Berbatov one.
Search Florentino or Perez in this thread and you will see several links.
Cristiano has a contract til 2015 with the option, so CR isn’t going anywhere if Madrid don’t want him to.
He seems p*ssed that he wasn’t backed for european honors.
Some versions of the story have Perez confirming that Cristiano wants to end his playing career with United.
18m Real Madrid Info @RmadridInfo
Arbeloa: “Everyone has the right to be sad one day, you can not be happy all 365 days a year.”
11m Real Madrid Info @RmadridInfo
Arbeloa: “Cristiano always wants to win any prize, Such ambition has led him to be the Best,…”
11m Real Madrid Info @RmadridInfo
Arbeloa: “but the most important thing for Crisitiano is Real Madrid and not winning the Golden Ball isn’t the first concern of his life,”
Real Madrid Info @RmadridInfo
Arbeloa: “I hope the fans don’t feel bad his words, he just need our support and extra love.”
I really dont feel that berbatov would have been out of place to say even the mistranslated part. Sometimes i wonder if he had had a bit more braggadocio about him whether he woudve played more. To compare him with King Eric is really apples and oranges. He came across as a surprisingly reserved, almost shy, character in all his time at Old Trafford. Maybe that ultimately was the difference between the fiery Frenchman and Berba. Sir Alex does seem to have a penchant for strong characters, and his strongest teams have always had a core of those around. Ultimately reassuring to see that Berba still payed the due respect to Sir Alex and the club even in the interview where he “slated” them.
GO ROONEY!!!!!
Let see if ???
RVP 4 goals in 2 games!!!
It’s all Rooney’s fault, what ever it is.
Let Berba have his say, all good. He was pissed off.
RVP , Kagawa and Rooney to be strong by December!!!!!!
Love MUFC
Love RoM
I must see if my body will last the day, like a good little dwarf, off to work I go.
Go Zibbie!
Real should keep Ronaldo happy because I might die from vomit if I see him play for City.
Well Done RvP! Keep it up!
@Costa
Thank you for the sources about the interview. Like I said, many people getting trolled by the media, not the first time & wont be the last time. Time to put this to bed.
Berbatov played a big part in us getting No.19, he scored important & winning goals, he missed good chances, all part & parcel of the game. He is a good player, still is, didn’t fit in, but definitely made a difference. Take nothing away from his contributation, period
samuel – united WE stand says @ 9.54, very well said…as usual.
I concur your view on Berba’s time at United.
Like many of us has said, let’s put this to bed and move on.
sparkz @ 0:54: “Could I call Berba a failure? Nope, he helped us win Number 19. No way can you call someone a failure after that.
Could I call Berba a success? Nope, he never got the chemistry going with the team and rarely turned up on the big occasions, which is what record signings are bought for.”
EXACTLY. Shades of grey which is why I’ve always thought myself to be a BerbaSceptic NOT a “hater”. The guy was a joy – and, in almost equal parts, a frustration – to watch.
I’ve always had the sense that there was more – much more – that he might have provided; whether this was his “fault” or SAF’s is a moot point but my overwhelming sense has been that he’s been the wrong guy in the wrong place at the wrong time – i.e., square peg/round hole.
Just going through the comments…DAAAMN, some RoM-ers really need anger management therapy, pronto!
Haters, lovers, defenders, prostitutes, all on steroids, fuck me
Matchday cannot come soon enough, poor souls
@Costas
Meet me halfway Athens -Sofia so we can share the misery and die vomiting together, i’m surrounded by fucking scouse twats here that will sell their mothers for Ronnie even contemplating a move to Shitty.
Such a lowly scum, L’poo fans, team getting worse every year, yet obsessed with United as if they’ve had their cord cut at the Stretford end
Don’t believe everying you read in the press, particularly Rupert’s stable of toilet rags. There’s a reason why he shut the News of the World down you…
Anyway, Berbatov’s gone, top player that he is. Yes I’ll be keeping tabs on Berbatov’s Fulham performances for the sheer joy of watching the guy play. However, life moves on and the priority right now has to be those currently at the club.
@Keyser Soze
It would be one horrific scene at the Greece/Bulgaria border.
I look at the current landscape and if Real decide to sell, there are only 2 clubs that can afford him. City and PSG. If it does happen. lets hope he chooses Paris.
Are Liverpool fans still gloating about United failing? Shouldn’t they be more concerned about the state of their club? They’d love to see Ronaldo at City? I’d love to see Heskey at Liverpool.
Costas
So you are saying that news sites make up and / or leave out information, who would have thought!??!!
People who want to quote The Sun, of all rags, to justify their hate for a United player or past player who gave their all and love our Club have No Bloody Idea. You would have to be scum or a dipper at best.
