At this afternoon’s press conference, it has been announced that Robin van Persie will wear our number 20 shirt this season.

“I took the shirt because I’m here to win the 20th league title with Man United.”

BFTGT has all the other players who have worn our #20 shirt.

Here’s a little conspiracy I’ve been working on for the last 2 minutes.

Rafael and Fabio have said that they always want numbers next to each other, hence Rafa rejected the No.2 shirt when Nev retired. When Fabio returns next season, he’ll therefore need a number next to Rafa, and so Rafa could take the 2 and Fabio the 3, meaning that Evra will be leaving at the end of this forthcoming season.

Alternatively, none of that could be even remotely true and Fabio would take the 22 when Scholes retires again. Or numbers matter not in the slightest.

Secondly, i don’t think we’ll be paying the full 20million. I’ve seen a couple of ABU’S that have purposely and continuously highlight his wages (which none of us know about). VanPersie is a player for the here and now, pragmatic dull folks will mention “Resale value”. If he hopefully stays fit and firing, who would care? He doesn’t rely on pace, he’s a phenomenon technically, he possesses individual match winning brilliance that would only improve united. Negatives are mentioned but i see vast positives.

Never ever doubted it info was too hot at the time back in June and RVC had already made his mind up he was never leaving the country because hes settled here so Juve was out of the question unlike a certain United player who thought otherwise

Classic case was City Mancini wanted him big time for Europe, but according to the guy who spoke to my brother he was never going to city you know why?

Because between United and city no matter what their is no choice to make

Still had to take it with a pinch of salt but hey for the first time all I can say is wow…

kanchelskis – the crazy thing is? we are still 3 players short of rounding off the squad, to give us a much stronger backbone. I am hoping the likes of cleverly anderson kagwa powell fletcher if they all stay fit and break through, will solve the issues of that area. But that still leaves us short at the back, as evra ferdinand and vidic are at peaks of their careers now, so that area will need rebuilding

As to Baines, I thought Brady was the LB option he was counting on. Seemed to talk him up over the summer which surprised me. Baines would fit, but getting a bit late. Think Baines was the one Fergies was talking about when he said we might make one more signing IF as ‘certain’ player became available. But then again, could be Messi as well

FletchTHEMAN – the more the players coming through the better, and the experience this side has got and the quality not only has the boss brought in this summer, but adding to it will help academy players. It would be a big help if keane does break through, but if brady and keane are the break through players, that would be fantastic for the squad. I do hope if our spine of ferdinand vidic carrick cleverly stays fit, we will have one hell of a side to choose from. Shitty’s only edge over united is kompany and toure, apart from that we match shitty in every department
