Gibbo27 – and I must hold my hand up and confess that I was singing that turks song in response to the munich chants at Old Trafford a few years back. I’m not proud of it but sometimes you get so wound up you just want to retaliate. A few pints of Boddys beforehand didn’t help either!!

Quite a few l**ds on here today. Are you trying to say that home games against carlisle just don’t do it for you boys then?

Cantona7, i suppose that I’m desperate for Leeds to be back in the Premiership, the education of the youngsters with regard to the rivalry would then take care of itself…

My personal views with regard to the Munich tragedy are that it was just that, a tragedy, but not just for the fans of Manchester United (although i truly understand that after the families of the unfortunate 23 the Manchester United fans feel the effects of that truly sad night more than anyone else); it was also a tragedy for all true football fans, past, present and future; nobody got to see what that team would/could/should have been… (Leeds fans are lucky in that we got to see our best team mature with no incident…) As said, the worlds of true football fanatics were robbed by the harrowing events of February 6, 1958.

As for the chant, i can’t associate with it, i find it distasteful and disrespectful to say the least… and it also shows a dismissive disregard to the emotions of one of our greatest players, Jack Charlton, who’s brother nearly perished and by his own word is still gravely haunted by the events… I don’t think that the Elland Road faithful will ever stop chanting it, but if Jack were to go on the pitch and tell them to stop it… well we can all live in hope… Although please bear in mind that “always look out for Turks carrying Knives..” is in a similar vein…

The main Reason to our Leeds Rivalry is because, probably they were out most Violent Rivals, Always teasing the Munich etc etc.

They didn’t have Rival’s so they came to United -_-

going back to an earlier post, leeds play in white because don revie wanted us to emulate the all conquering real madrid side of the 50’s. nowt to do with the yorkshire rose. we actually started out with a blue and white striped shirt a la huddersfield, then to blue and yellow halves before the Don took over and changed the course of our history forever. just in case anyone gave a shit!..

Glad to know you haven’t forgotten us! As much as we hate each other,I think we agree that games between us mean more than say Fulham or Wigan. I wonder if you agree that there are only 7 sides who could take the sort of away following we do to 3rd Div games:both Mancs,both Scousers,the Geordies,the Mackems and ourselves;the Southerners wouldn’t manage it. We’re not all scum by the way-I’m sure not all of you are either! There are as many Galatassaray singers as Munich singers. I personally have got no time for either. As embarassed as we are at our current position,you can be 100% certain that we’ll be back!

One reason alone Man Utn are so big, we let you have Cantona! We had just won the new premier league with him. And Man UTD, went onto greater things with him. Without him, i doubt it.
