United fans are encouraged to bring their flags and scarves to tonight’s Champions League match against Inter Milan, in a similar effort to the Show Your Colours campaign of last season against Barcelona.
Whilst the 0-0 at the Nou Camp was viewed as a good result, there has been a more negative slant on our result at the San Siro, given we played Inter off the park.
Paul Scholes isn’t worried though and reckons with the players we have, we’ll get the win even if Inter do score an away goal.
“We didn’t allow Inter to play and the only thing that was missing was the goal,” said Scholes. “We created enough chances to win two or three games and I accept 0-0 can be a dangerous scoreline. But if the first game is anything to go by, we should have a great chance. It is a tricky situation. If they do get a goal we will have to get two. But we are more than capable of doing that with the players we have.”

Man Utd News 24/7

Yeah,no heartaches please.2-0 within 30 minutes and then we conserve our energy for the dippers.
Is there anyone who believes that we can’t score twice against Inter? THAT Inter?
With United you never know James.Inter will not be as open as they were at Milan. And when teams come and shut up shop at Old Trafford they can frustrate us.Think back to the Sunderland game.Personally i think they key to all of this is if we get a goal that we don’t sit back.
We need to play controlled as we did in the first leg but Inter will certainly be playing deeper so we also need to really hassle their back four. I think this is a job for Rooney and Tevez, leave Berbatov on the bench. I’d play the same team as first match with only changes being Vidic for Evans and Tevez for Berbatov. I like Berbatov but as I said I think we need to unsettle them and be at their throats right from the off, Rooney and Tevez are yer’ men for this one.
You mean Rooney and Tevez for Berbatov and Giggs? That’s my thought as well.Given the line up at Fulham, and given that we play again in 60 hours,i think that SAF might opt to go with experience.Maybe Fletcher will make way for Scholes or Giggs. Both of them haven’t played since Milan so they are pretty fresh.
We need to start fast, hit Inter early if they play Samuel and Cordoba they have ne real pace, so Rooney and Ronnie should have a field day.
Pllay Giggsy and Carrick in the centre of the park so they control the tempo of the game, my concerns are longer the game goes on without a goal Inter will grow in confidence and could hit us with a sucker punch.
In an ideal world,i would have liked it if we had played like we did against Roma in the 7-1 win. Many people don’t realise this but the star of the show that day was Alan Smith. He was the one doing all the dirty work up front, allowing the likes of Rooney,Ronaldo and Giggs to roam behind him and have free space. But the problem is we don’t have an Alan Smith anymore. So this game today most likely will be all about patience.
Costas I agree, with the Dippers weekend match in mind Fletcher might be rested tonight as he usually starts against the top premier teams so that would mean Carrick and possibly either Scholes or Giggs in central midfield.
The Roma match yes Alan Smith was the business that night and I think Tevez could play that role tonight. Whatever, we definitely need someone hasselling their back four all night long to keep them under constant pressure, pin them back from the start and smother them.
I agree. From the current squad only Tevez can hussle them.Rooney can too,but i prefer him to pull the strings from behind in this one.Hey maybe Giggsy can play on the wing for a change.Inter don’t play with wingers so O’Shea will deal with Maicon.I wonder what plans Fergie has for Anderson in this one as well as the Liverpool game.I know many are disappointed with his second season(i am too) but i feel that he is an integral part in Fergie’s rotation policy right now.Too bad Nani isn’t since he wasn’t even on the bench against Fulham.
I cannot wait for tonight. As I said on an earlier post I would like SAF to start with Tevez and Rooney as well. As numerous people have stated we need to be at their throats from the off. I think Carrick will start will Scholes in middle with Ron on on right and possibly Park on left. Will he play Giggsy though to control the midfield? We definately need a ball winner in mid field tonight. I reckon Fletch will be rested for Saturday. So many decisions but as always SAF will get it bang on. United to win 3-1.
“So many decisions but as always SAF will get it bang on. United to win 3-1.”
IF SAF gets it right then I would expect a big, big margin of victory because IF InterMilan fall behind then their game-plan will be in tatters and IF they come out of their shell then the faster UTD players should cut them to shreds.
But, all that’s as may be, there’s a game to play and to quote the great, great Joaquin Andujar, “One thing I know is, you never know !”
Who was Joaquin Andujar ?
He was a journeyman pitcher for a host of major=league baseball teams; his nickname was “Walking Underwear”, which says a lot !
