Reports today suggest that Paul Scholes is ready for first team action after missing two months with his bad knee.
Tonight he is likely to have a place on the bench after spending the past two weeks in full-time training.
“I have Paul Scholes in mind,” said Ferguson. “He is on the verge of playing again following his knee injury and operation. He is training well and is chomping at the bit to get started. So a place on the bench with perhaps a few minutes’ pitch time could be good for him. We’ll see how things go.”

With Hargreaves out for the season,our squad could use a fourth midfielder.But Sir Alex has to know that Scholesy,as briliant as he has been for the club,should also be fourth in the pecking order.Carrick is the first choice in our midfield,Fletch is finally fulfilling his potential and Anderson is a powerhouse in his own right.But still,Scholes is a Man.United legend and he still has a part to play this year.
Costas, Scholes is the best midfielder we have at United his passing rate and creativity would put Carrick and Fletcher to shame infact it would put any midfielder in the world to shame, Kaka and Zidane have both said he’s the best midfielder they’ve ever seen!
Our midfield revolves around Scholesy hence the fact we’ve not been scoring as many goals. People say Ronaldo is our main man but for me its always the ginger prince.
Park-Scholes-Carrick-Ronaldo is our best midfield IMO even though its gonna be tough for Fergie to pick because Fletcher has also been class this season.

I am not disregargding him Red-Manc.I am only saying he is not the player he used to be.i believe Zidane made these comments 3-4 years ago when Scholes was at the top of his game having netted 20 goals in a season.Last year he scored 2.I went and looked back at our statistics from last season.The team scored more goals without him in the starting line-up.Last season we saw Anderson eclipse Gerrard and Fabregas away from home.Schled didn’t have the same effect when we played them at home at the second half of the season.For me the best midfield we have is the one you mentioned,but with Anderson in Scholes’ place.I don’t mean to upset anyone here,i love Scholesy as much as any Man.united supporter.I am just saying that i think it’s best to utilise him the way Giggs is utilised now.If he comes of the bench he can make a real difference to the game.
Both Scholes (and Giggs as well) is good enough to start any game for United, but on this age they won’t be able to. Rotating him with Fletcher, Carrick, and Anderson depending on the strengths and weaknesses of the opposing team would prove to be best, I think. And it will preserve the players from injuries as well.
