Luke Shaw has had a disappointing first season for Manchester United, spending too much time out injured and, when he has played, been some way short of the performances you would expect from a player with his pricetag. The player himself rates the past year as ‘C-‘ more him.

However, in an interview he has given with Match of the Day magazine, Shaw has discussed his feelings on playing against the team he grew up supporting, Chelsea. Shaw has even claims he is unsure whether he would celebrate or not if he scored his first ever goal for Manchester United at Stamford Bridge this weekend.

I used to watch Chelsea every week. It was really good when I got to play at Stamford Bridge, I would say that’s my favourite away stadium to go to. Chelsea is one of the first games I look for when the new fixtures come out. I haven’t scored yet so I don’t know. If my first goal was to come against Chelsea I’m not sure what I’d do.

You’ve got to worry about the commitment of a player if he won’t even celebrate his first goal for his club, let alone it being against another club he has never played for. Thankfully, he’s nowhere near our first XI at the moment, thanks to his poor performances and the form of Daley Blind, so we won’t have to worry about Shaw scoring and not celebrating this weekend.
