I don’t know if it’s pertinent to this link but I have a 1998 number 7 Cantona shirt in a frame, signed by the whole team on the front – and on the back is written “Good luck in L.A. Godfrey, Bobby Charlton” (Godfrey’s my name).
Also Sir Alex and Tommy Docherty have signed the back.
    I’m just sayin’.

I had Veron 4 on that reversible shirt we had a few seasons ago, luckily when it became apparent what a donkey he was I could just turn it inside out and wear it the other way round!

Also I remember seeing a Chelsea fan at Stamford Bridge during the 98-99 season who had

    Man U
    1
    Fuck All

on the back of his shirt. Bet he regretted that come the end of that particular season!

To haha, this is really off topic but it might be interesting to someone.

No, Tommy Doc didn’t charge me for his signature – in fact he was very generous to me once, when he was our manager.

I was supposed to pick up a match ball (something nice that was arranged for me by my friend the late Ken Jones who wrote Manchester United Calypso) following a game in the terrible winter of ’75.

I knew before I got to the ground that the match had been called off as my car was slipping all over the ice to get there. However, I went into the O.T. exec dining room to find The Doc eating lunch – steak, chips & peas I remember. I told him about the situation and he left his food, took me to his office – MANCHESTER UNITED’S MANAGERS OFFICE!!!

I sat in the chair opposite his desk where so many of our players must’ve sat. The Doc made some calls and he discovered that my signed ball was at the home of one of the trainers.
He sent me over there where they were having a drink with some of the players. Martin Buchan presented me with the signed ball which I still have of course – and they offered me a beer.
    Is that cool or what!

  16. gotta hate tiny tears says:

its not that hard to believe the man remembers tommy doc had peas with his dinner in the winter of 1975

  17. godpye says:

Thanks guys – how nice to think that fellow United fans are ready to call me a liar, you don’t even know me.
So, you know who you are, screw you, why don’t you remain as ignorant as you clearly are in future.
