Shock! Scholes ISN’T Going To Stoke

A few days ago the press would have had you believe that Paul Scholes was in two minds over ending his Manchester United career this summer and moving to Stoke for a player-coach role.

Shockingly, it appears that was all a load of bollocks. Who would have thought eh?

“I know nothing about it and neither does (chief executive) Tony Scholes. I haven’t spoke to Tony Pulis yet, but I doubt he knows anything about it either,” chairman Peter Coates told the Stoke Sentinel. “I spoke to Tony on Thursday and we discussed nothing of that kind. We know what players we are looking for and who we want. When I speak to Tony, we talk about players coming in and players going out. I don’t know where this story has come from, but there is no substance to it.”

  2. Mark Moore says:

I never believe anything the media has to about United (or much else, truth be told) until i see it in the flesh, or i hear from Sir Fergie himself. Although i can understand the medias obsession – United sell.

  9. Gudjohnsen says:

I doubt Scholes will remain in football after his career on the pitch is over. He’ll probably give us one more season, then enjoy his retirement…

  10. DanS says:

  13. wazza says:

@costas : are AEK in relegation dogfight ?

  14. costas says:

No Wazza, but they have gone 15 years without a championship and their finances are in bad shape. They will alwyas finish in the top 3-4 because the level of the greek league is low but they are miles away from clinching a title again.

  15. AlphaRS says:

This he and Giggsy will retire at the end of the season.

They won’t play in many games I don’t think.

  16. Xyth says:

It looks like British media have become xenophobic towards Man Utd. Can’t they sell papers without blatant fabrications about United? If you believe the papers, about half of our squad is leaving after the ‘unsuccessful’ season that we had. It only took a single defeat, to an excellent team in a one off final, for all these clever pricks who pretend to be football geniuses, to start throwing mud at us. God save us from these hypocrites.

That’s why, we should come be even more determined next season and make it 4 in a row and hopefully get a rematch against Barca in the next Champions League final.

  17. Saha ha ha says:

We’ll see Scholes on strictly come dancing before we see him play for Stoke. IF (BIG IF) he leaves UTD it will be a swan song at Oldham before he retires.

  18. wazza says:

@costas : i guess you are not that a big fan of AEK as you once said and we all care only for United.
Scott it would be nice if you put up some threads of the memorable moments of this season. its been a dull last few days for many of us and want to forget the CL disappointment. where are Giles, suhayl, GHTT all gone ? i am missing some of the sparks flying around in the comments.
