We need Rio to have the likes of Torres and Kaka in his “pocket”. Rio has shiteloads of pace and how many central defenders can boast that?

Kaka just RAN past our players instead of dribbling past them.

Obviously Silly isn’t in Rio’s league but we need him as backup for Rio.
And Brown/Evans as backup for Vidic.

Either that or we’ll have to play Saha in central defence.

Dozer: We have learnt the lesson, the lesson being Silvestre isn’t good enough! And to compare Silvestre to Stam is just silly. With that being said, 750 000 is not enough, we should get a couple of millions, although not more than five for him.

We shouldn’t sell him for even 5m! We need central defenders with pace and Silly is the only player apart from Rio who can offer us that.

He is 30 plus I know but still…

I don’t think Fergie would do an Arsene Wenger and do “business” without thinking how it would impact the strength of the squad first. He had already made that mistake with Stam already.
And of course our nightmare games with AC Milan a couple of years ago have taught us good lessons.

Hope we have learned them.

Was it him tt rejected l’pool’s bid & instead opted for Utd many yrs ago???. Was it him tt scored against them scousers a few seasons back???.

Yeah!, these r the things I associate Silvestre wz!.

He’s still a decent guy to hv as Evra’s backup. But if he’s to go, I’d prefer a realistic amt of abt 2-3 mil for him. 750K is way too low his mkt value.

Sorry, Scott, but I don’t agree with your comment about the testimonial issue: a testimonial isn’t a reward for performance, it’s a sign of respect for someone who has given their all for the club. Sure, he may not have the ability to be a starter at the club anymore, but that’s no reason to be disrespectful to the guy.

Scott, its obvious you’re not fond of him. but £750,000?????????? Eagles went for £1.5m ffs sakes, Silvestre is still a good player, though not good enough to command a starting spot anymore, but he still worth way more than that. I’d put him at £7-8m.

It would only be for sentimental reasons that I’d be sad to see Silvestre go, and it’d be the same case if he stuck around.

I am very excited by the twins and looking at the way they have been playing is very inspiring. I am really excited about the youth at United and in those two to name a couple we have a great defence. Now we need to sort out the attacking department. Whether that involves buying Berbatov or bringing Welbeck into the side I do not care, we are lacking numbers at this point in time.
