Salford lad Danny Simpson, who made his way up through the ranks at Manchester United before joining Newcastle, has today said he hopes his team get a result against Chelsea to help us win the league.
A point from the next two games will be enough to ensure that United are crowned Champions, but if Newcastle take points off Chelsea, it would mean we could lose our next two games and still win the league.

I disagree mate i think he’s fitness is just down to blackpool not having the facilities of other clubs. He’s got a final product that is of very high standard and i think with a bit of discipline and guidance under SAF he’d turn into a very useful player. He’s big and strong and not afraid to run at defense’s, and has an ability to grab a game by the scruff of the neck and pull the strings where it matters.

@FITB, If I was told United could have only one player, it would be Sneijder. I have never been as disappointed at a person being linked with United and then the transfer not happening as I was when Sneijder went to Inter. He has everything I would want in a United player – Humility, Honor, Grit, Strength, Age. He would pretty much be the perfect match for us if Scholesy decides to retire.
The main problems I always see when somebody of Sneijder’s quality is linked to us has to do with wages. I know United can match his wage demands if needed. But whether we would be willing to pay one player a lot more than everyone else is the question. We have already done it with Rooney and Ronaldo, but I have a feeling that is not the United way.
Also, will Sneijder be prepared to be on the bench for a few matches. With Sir Alex’s rotation policy and players like Carrick, Giggs, Fletcher and Anderson, will Sneijder be prepared to fight for his place in the XI or will he expect to start each match. Looking at his character, I feel he would be prepared to fight for his place but you can never know.
As I said, if United are going to buy only one player apart from a goal keeper this summer, I would want it to be Wesley Sneijder. I absolutely love him, always have since before he was linked to us itself and even before he moved to the virus.

Barcelona were only really challenged by Arsenal this season in a game of football. Most other games, teams have been rolling over for them. Madrid played the Inter way from last season but didn’t have the personnel to do it properly like Inter had. And Barcelona almost lost to Arsenal and if it weren’t for a fortuitous decision, they would’ve been knocked out.
Which brings me to my main point: United take the official out of the equation. Don’t commit stupid, petulant fouls (This is the reason why I don’t see the Da Silva’s playing this game). So United will have to shell out a lot on transfer fees and wages just to get one player. I feel it would be worth it anyways.

@FITB, Agreed mate. United are also very old-fashioned in that sense. Everybody and their mother goes ga-ga over Barca’s tippy tappy football. And I admit, I do find it pleasant to watch.
But United’s style is much more straightforward as you said. Give the ball out wide to old-fashioned wingers and watch them rip apart fullbacks, get the cross in where we have another old-fashioned striker in Chicharito waiting to score the goal. I admit I am more a fan of this type of goal, than the tippy-tappy one produced by Barcelona.
The good news for us is that Barcelona’s defense is exactly susceptible to the kind of football I mentioned above. Their fullbacks are going to have a helluva time dealing with Valencia and Park on either wing. And their central defense is very, very susceptible to balls in the air and suck at playing with their body turned towards their own goal. That is exactly what Rooney and Hernandez have been doing in the past few weeks.
I don’t expect any pundit to analyze that reasoning as logically as we’ve done. But that could arguably the single greatest reason why I see us winning this Champions League title.
Also agreed with you regarding Sneijder. Now that they’re not Champions, could he be tempted by an offer from United who he has always said he has admired a lot. I would think so. @FITB, Agreed on most counts. Except Daniel Taylor in a Q and A session said that Stekelenburg is favored ahead of De Gea. That makes a lot of sense to me. Since the last news we got was that VDS had given his go-ahead for the new GK personally. And that tells me VDS has worked with the new GK and knows him well. And that leaves only one option which is Stekelenburg.
Also, it would be highly dangerous to buy a young GK no matter how good he is. GK is one of the few positions where you get better as you get older. And Stekelenburg is at the right age to spend a good time with us. He has the experience playing at the international level and is a product of the Ajax academy. What more could we want?
With all the news coming in, I would be very surprised if our new GK was not Stekelenburg.

I really don’t know who is worth the gamble. I do prefer Steve Bruce ahead of David Moyes, but it might be influenced because I’m a loyalist and Bruce was our player. Both are promising managers but, let’s be honest, no one can replace our eternal manager. Ole should be strongly considered if he does a good job with Molde. Also, it might be worth taking a look at Laurent Blanc if he is to be successful with France. I know other quality managers but those aren’t British/Irish and have never worked in UK/Ireland.
