Danny Simpson, who spent 12 years at Manchester United, has today claimed that when he comes back with Newcastle this weekend he is coming for three points.
Simpson, who is from Salford, admits to still being a United fan but insists it will be strictly professional on Saturday.
“I can’t wait. It’s the first time I’ve been back in three-and-a-half years but I am not just going there for a day out with my family, I am looking to take points and close the gap,” he said. “I think I’ll always have something to prove to Sir Alex Ferguson. I was there from the age of 11 but I had a good time and I’m a Red at heart. But I’m at a good team, playing well and at the back of my mind is maybe showing him and proving a point and hopefully taking some points.”

oh my, first? (:
Ha ha ha first, whatever that means.
It’s a shame we can’t get more of our youngsters in the first team, but good to know it’s not only Barca whose youth team loves them.
Damn you @ ivanscholes!!!!
hope we beat newcastle well and good this weeked. I’ve gained more respect for them with their wonderful start to the season.
haha whoops. (:
Thirst.
So am I Danny, so am I.
You can’t get more United, than being from Salford. Lets see if he repeat big bads feat, of scoring an og lol.
Hope we stuff them! They are playing a more open game this season although tight at the back. I pray Rooney is back and we smash em 5-1!! Oh, the memories..
@slim
No mate,it wasnt me.
but saying say the amount Barca spend on transfer is similar to ours is incorrect.

Sorry for the off Topic
Hello my lovelies…
Always liked wee Danny, a proper red through and through….
As I mentioned on the other thread I was really impressed with Kagawa, decent player.
Costas – Not sure if you have a local team but that was a very impressive result for Olympiacos
Gotta say in this cruel world of soccer i saw Wenger as a king Leah Figure after players he had nurtured left him to suffer in the storm. As such am in a way happy for the turnaround the club has gone through, not least because it will be a different Arsenal that faces city. So as long as he keeps Arsenal in top four mediocrity, i’ll always be secretly rooting for him.
@Cedars
I am partial to one Greek team, but it’s not Olympiakos. Nonetheless, it was a damn impressive result. Can’t stand Marseille anyway. I’d like to see Olympiakos go through, but that will depend on your boy RVP not playing in Athens.
if simpson scores an o.g il buy him for my team on fm12. cmon simpson betis need a full back.
Costas
Hahaha, I doubt if my boy RVP will play in Athens as the Gunners have already qualified (Who would have that back in August!!) He is too precious and needs his rest!
@Cedars
He definitely needs a rest. Given that he’s prone to the odd injury, no need for Wenger to risk him in pointless game.
Arsenal have recovered well. Just think that they could be the only English side that qualifies to the last 16.
Costas
What a horror thought! lol Imagine both United and Chelsea in the Europa? ouch
Notice I did not mention the bitters! They do not belong in either competition hahaha
VERY off topic.
Anyone see KPB’s goal for AC Milan last night?
Manabadman.
Lads i know Utd have fucked around in this CL group but i’m not worried about getting a result at Basil,think the Rentboys will go through aswell
Always liked Danny. A good little full back. Only downside is didnt he dive to try and win a pen against us last year? Oh hang on that could have been Bardsley?
King Eric
It was Bardsley my friend
BREAKING NEWS
Late last night thieves broke into Maine Road and stole the entire contents of Manchester City’s trophy room. Police are looking for two men carrying a light blue carpet.
Danny is a cracking lad i have watched him play football since he was 7 years old ,Eccles finest .
@King Eric
You’ve mis-remembered an incident from the Newcastle game last year…
Simpson ‘fouled’ Chicharito in the box right at the end, but Chicho got a booking for diving, instead of us getting the pen.
You’re welcome
kanchelskis
Losing my marbles here (Non left actually!) Wasn’t Bardsley involved in some sort of a pen incident though?
@CedarsDevil
Yeh, that happened too. He dived for a pen which he didn’t get.
I was just identifying the Simpson incident KE thought he remembered.
kanchelskis
Cheers for that, good to know that a minor part of my brain still works! hahahaha
This son of the cedars is sighing off for a much needed nap…… Catch you true reds later
Im afraid it will be back to back Manchester defeats Danny boy!
@Manuminati – top post.
i believe we will be top come january.
someone mentioned kagawa… ?
sounds like an idea.
@cedars : hello old man. all well?
Cedars and Kanchelskis – Thats it!! Cheers lads.
Don’t know if it got mentioned on Tuesday night but kudos to young Will Keane who bagged a brace for the reserves. Well done Will.
The papers are going into overdrive, convincingly linking United to i dont know how many players daily. I think SAF is def buying in Jan
King Eric
Yup, Thats where i got the positive vibe from KE, doubly sweet for me on the night.
Even sweeter knowing that bolton side had Tuncay and Petrov and our boys came through. Davide Petrucci, and co are coming along nicely, much different to what i think people are really aware of. Scholes like Keane i hear
if united really do buy a CM this jan (highly unlikely and pure conjecture)
who do you all think it’ll be?
i seriously hope its someone in the cabaye mold rather than the hazard eriksen mold i’d love javi martinez…
what ‘d love most though would be for ravel and pogba to step up asnd for clev to dazzle us
Sounds like you’ve got that vibe?
@rohan, more like Goetze
Will be rooting for livashit at e weekend.my love for united is more than my hatred for thosd two idiotic teams.can only benefit us if they win.

utd to get feghouli, apparently fergie sent his brother to watch him. has any1 heard of him?
Just in;
Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis has warned Manchester City they will need to splash out more money than they have ever spent if they want to sign Edinson Cavani.
City scout Barry Hunter has met Cavani’s agent in Rome and Roberto Mancini is lining up a £30million January bid for the striker.
Hunter and Claudio Anelluci spent hours together discussing the chances of Cavani moving to the Premier League and the Uruguay international enhanced his own reputation with both goals in Napoli’s 2-1 win over City on Tuesday night. Cavani is under contract until 2015 and De Laurentiis said: ‘If (Manchester City owner) Sheikh Mansour wants to buy one of our jewels, he should pay much more than he has already spent at City.’
Coor cittay are really getting the love. Yuck
saw the paper, is utd really getting feghouli? hes good but we need an enforcer.
And am also loving how the Napoli president has been taunting Man City this season, after yesterday’s game, he said,
‘I think Mansour just wanted a toy. He says that he doesn’t want immediate success but if they don’t win something quickly, he could just go somewhere else and buy another toy.’
‘Our success proves two things. The first is that perhaps money isn’t everything, as even with balanced books you can still go far.’
Good evening lovely Red Devils around the world,

The saying in Northen Ireland went “Maradona good; Pelé better; George Best.” and who could disagree.. Pele thought he was the greatest player in the world and that thought was shared by a lot of football fans. His heyday occurred during the 1960s, when he brought a pop star image to the game.
After his first training session in heaven, George Best, from his favourite right wing, turned the head of God who was filling in at left-back.

George Best Quotes
Footballers today are millionaires by the time they’re 22 or 23. More and more of them are going out and looking for something to give them a buzz outside football, be it gambling, drugs or booze.
I got my buzz from playing. Players now have a groin injury for months and months and I often think they don’t really give a toss whether they’re playing or not because they’re getting paid anyway.
George Best Quotes
Reporter Sue Mott, taking Best’s mobile phone number: “God, do you realise half the women in the world would pay good money to get that number?”
Best: “Half the women in the world have got it.”
George Best Quotes
They say I slept with seven Miss Worlds. I didn’t. It was only four. I didn’t turn up for the other three.
George Best Quotes
They’ll forget all the rubbish when I’ve gone and they’ll remember the football. If only one person thinks I’m the best player in the world, that’s good enough for me.
All the bad times cannot wipe away the good memories, and despite all the ups and downs, when I look at my life as a whole, it is impossible for me not to feel blessed.
George Best Quotes
I was born with a great gift, and sometimes with that comes a destructive streak. Just as I wanted to outdo everyone when I played, I had to outdo everyone when we were out on the town.
Well, I suppose that’s the knighthood f**ked.
Best after being sent to prison in 1984 for drink-driving
Cedars – He was simply the best mate. We’re proud to have produced a player of such quality. I’m just lucky he played for the club, I love.
Sandeep – Cheers mate. Those quotes are testimonies to the great man.
Willie
Indeed he was buddy, I was a wee child watching him in his last season for us, not the same as watching him in his prime, my dad raved about him and I have plenty of DVD’s specially for him… Even have a painting of him, signed by the great man
Willie,
indeed mate, a true legend
cheers
Sandeep
Terrific research my friend, you are what all United fans should be about i.e. knowing and understanding our history…
Well done
Cedars – My old man brought me up on stories about Bestie. Our wee country has been divided on lots issues. Never on George. Can’t believe it’s 6 years already? RIP
Willie – when news of his death broke out I fucking cried my eyes out, no joke
Cedars,
Hello my good friend,

Sandeep – Hello mate. Fucking hell. Those figures are staggering. Nearly one fucking BILLION!!!
Was at an Ian Brown gig at the MEN arena the day of Bestie’s funeral. United songs all the way. Endless repetitions of “Number one was Georgie Best, Number two ………….” Fucking top night.

The bond with Manchester United grows stronger every single passing day,
its enshrined in the hearts and the minds..
The Western India Football Association has partnered Manchester United to set up the football academy, Manchester first academy in India.
Great sign for the improvement of football in India, i know we are may 50 years from gaining global recognition,
but my beloved club setting up the academy shows the future is bright..
Cheer up Alan Shearer! Oh what can it mean, to a… Sad Geordie b*stard and a shite football teeeeeeam!
I’ll be there… I suggest se of the ‘silent’ f*ckers who turn up and contribute f*ck all, give their ticket up for someone who’s prepared to help the team. Too much deadwood in the stands to get rid of before we anhialate a (our) struggling team!!!

@Sandeep1878: glad to know that India as well is starting to get the football craze, for as far as I know, you guys live and die for cricket
Simpson has gone on to have an excellent career thus far from leaving United. There are plnty of excellent yuongsters who were just quite not the grade at United but still quality nontheless.
Richardson – Sunderland
Bardsley – Sunderland
Campbell – Sunderland
Greening – West brom / Fulham / Forest
Cathcart – Blackpool
Rachubka – Everyone
Chester – Hull (Will be bought by a prem side soon, quality player)
Brady – Hull
Simpson – Newcastle
Savage – Like him or not excellent career
The list goes on and on……
@Fred
i hope we dont buy Sneijer I really do think the guy is over rated, he is a very talented footballer but I think we need someone more industrious. Would be happy to see a player like Diarra or Tiote. I think we have the Sneijder credentials in Clev.
Simpson you are a low-down dirty traitor. A REAL red would have “accidentally” let the ball cross the line instead of blocking it. Hell, Phil Neville and Wes Brown would have made damn sure it went in.
