Smalling is top lad. we will see him as future United defender. intellegent on the ball and good reading of the game. One thing i really admire from our young players is that they’re level headed people. Rarely create fuss in the media. Although they have incredible ability, they’re not arrogant, even they have won several league title. unlike some other young players from other clubs e.g nasri, ballotelli, bendtner,etc. Maybe, it’s because they have role model like Giggs and Scholes who have won everything in club level.

So to summarize
In the EPL era, it is fair to say that United, Chelsea, and to some extent Arsenal have bought success (all have spent more than the likes of the Wigans and Burminghams, and Palaces and all have won the league). Blackburn spent massively early on and also won the league. So spending is required at this level to gain the highest level of the game. Same is true in all leagues.
In contrast, it has been documented that Liverpool have spend just as much, but have not perhaps spent as well. In otherwords, Liverpool have bough failure and continue to do the same.
Only time will tell if City have bought success. Portsmouth bought and FA cup, Leeds as well. See what that brought them. In hindsight, the trophies are a measure, purphaps the only measure. The rest is just taking the piss.

I am quite tired of comments that say things like “problem in our attacking midfield”, “no creativity in the middle etc” . WE DONT NEED AN ATTACKING MIDFIELDER. 76 goals scored FFS.
What we need as has been pointed out by some is a central midfield player who can control games. Carrick was supposed to be that player and has played the part this season. And Thankfully he has been available almost every game.
What we need is another player who can assert himself and control posession to provide cover for Carrick and Scholes. A bit of pace and tackling ability would be nice too.
I know Fletch will come back, however to what effect. The stress is a key factor to trigger an acute attack again. Playing in the PL for Man Utd well, stress is a part of it so he will have a relapse it just is a matter of when and how saver.
Will he let go of Anderson just after a contract extension?
