Smalling: We Watched Wazza’s Winner In Dressing Room

Chris Smalling has revealed that following our 2-1 win over Manchester City yesterday, the lads watched Wayne Rooney’s brilliant winner in the dressing room.

“We saw it on TV in the dressing room,” he said. “It has come right out of the middle of his foot and flew into the top corner. There is no better way to win the game. Wazza worked tirelessly all game. It was a fabulous occasion.”

Smalling believes the win is just what we deserved though after working so hard on the training ground this week.

“We all saw the table before the game and knew how crucial this game was,” he said. “It had been emphasised to us all week, every time we stepped on the training field. In the end, we got our just desserts. Their goal was pretty jammy and it would have been a travesty if they had taken anything out of that game.”

    Well done Chris Smalling!

  2. Giles Oakley says:

Chris Smalling was terrific and it’s good to see him speaking up like this, taking a little pot shot at City. One thing I’ve noticed about him is how loose-limbed he is, showing an unusual amount of relaxation, in the best sense, which allows those quick-footed maneouvres to evade onrushing attackers trying to pressurize him and force errors. It’s great to have a powerful, gutsy defender who also gets himself the time and space to play the ball out constructively. I know he’s only 20 and we shouldn’t big him up too much too soon (look at the decline of Jonny Evans) but he really did well yesterday, one of the most exciting parts of the victory.

Smalling endearing himself to the fans with such maturity on the field and this -

After Rooney’s goal, Smalling’s mature performance was the best thing about the game.

    I like that last statement.

  8. Tonka Norris says:

I wish someone had offered that “Jammy” comment to Wannabee yesterday. Damn but his bitterness was refreshing, I keep watching the clip and expecting him to squeal – “it isn’t fair”

  9. King Eric says:

Giles. Summed up perfectly. Hope you are doing ok my friend. He seems a really level headed down to earth lad. Such maturity. Bet he cannot believe it. Two years ago he was playing non league and yesterday was oustanding in a manchester derby and keeping an inform tevez quiet. No mean feat. His performance was worth the entrance fee alone along with vida for having that judas bastard in their pockets all game. Well done chris lad. Keep this up and you can have one hell of a future at united.

  15. bobkoh says:

Tevez will leave Citeh in the summer if they do not beat Spurs to 4th place. I’m sick of him trying to ‘prove’ how right he was. Go home, Argie!
