Man Utd News 24/7

guys, one important question. is Torres eligible for Tuesday? I think he is, because I found nothing about it in the rules of the Premier League, but you may know stg I don’t…
Why would he not be eligible? It’s a league game.
@ Whiteside
Because he wasn’t on their books when the fixture was originally scheduled
Ah ok. My bad.
Not too worried anyway – Vidic dealt with him much better last time.
Yeah y wouldn’t he be gio. . . .
@ Whiteside
Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t we play Evans instead of Vidic in our last match against the dippers?
Never even thought of that redbeard.
RVP has had a good season. Don’t know if he would have been first if he had played as much as Berbatov though.
And for what it’s worth, Berba, Chicha, Rooney or Nani > Tevez.
Did we? Oh well i’m putting my foot right in it this morning then!
Let me amend it to he was dealt with much better last time.
Think you are getting confused with cup fixtures Redbeard. Rearranged league games are not like cup replays.
No wonder Manchester United and Arsenal are leading the title race….
Bit surprised wit Walcott at no.2 to be honest.
I mean he has had a good season but it is a pleasant surprise.Well the stats can’t be false, can they?
I am presuming these stats to be taken from a reliable source, aren’t they?
Robin Van Persie !……Robin Van Persie !…..Robin Van Persie !
Hernandez and Berba by a country mile. The rest can only watch in envy.
Tevez and Rooney should take a boat out to sea and watch it sink together, as they do they should cry and remember better days
I think Torres can play. Another thing I am wondering is if the referee will be Martin Atkinson. He was scheduled to be the ref for the fixture back in December. I hope he isn’t.
STR ,
Correction :
Theo has 7 assists , not 6.
If fit, Robin Van Persie is the most complete striker in the league .
@Arindam@KOL
That’s a big if sadly. Almost as big as Saha’s.
Yes, Saha was class back in the day as well.
Hernandez has been a big surprise this season. I am not sure if the United fans expected him to do so well .
He’s like the Solsjkaer of old. Potentially could turn out even better . Great buy !
It’s funny cos it seems to me Rooney has really struggled this season, with the touch of a rapist and no clue where the goal is but the stats suggest he’s been more effective than Chicharito.
I didn’t think Hernandez would score as many, that’s for sure. At this rate, he could reach 20 goals for United on his first season in Europe. Can’t remember the last time that happened.
Rooney may well be past his best, or at least out of form this season, but I don’t think that can be said about Tevez.
He was OK for us, but nowhere near as good as he was at West Ham or Citeh.
Also pleasantly surprising was seeing Theo up at 2nd. The commentators’ favourite whipping boy – no end product…..blah…blah….
Not bad for an Olympic sprinter, eh ?
Surprised at how effective RvP is, I epecting him in there but not creating something every 57.9 mins. Hate the guy but that’s a great ratio!
Pleased that we have Rooney, Berba, Chico and Nani in the top 10!
Cockney , he didnt get the chances he needed at United.
Agreed. At United, Tevez couldn’t be the focal point of our attacking play. He gets to be that at City and that’s why he is more prolific.
@Cedars Devil. Here here mate, spot on as ever.Exactly what I thought. Javier our new star, and the Bulgarian artist. The most potent, spearhead.
Sir Alex, needs to have a “word” with Rooney, he is causing United, no end of shame.
What I dont understand is, why he repeatedly backs him up.
Scary thought looking at those stats that if Robin Van Persie was fit the league positions could have been the other way around. It’s just the only thing you can 100% bank on with RVP is that he’ll be crocked for a decent portion of the season.
43 goals and 28 assists between all 4 of United’s players in that list. It would be interesting to see how many of those assists resulted in goals for the same four players.
As others have said it’s nice to see Theo Walcott and Wayne Rooney up there as it drives me mental when the commentators rip into them. And once again shows that commentators are only good for background noise.
I reckon that Andy Carroll could move up that table now he’s at Liverpool. (Enjoying his Boyzone concerts hahahaha!)
RedScot
Missed you buddy…
Re Rooney……..Sir Alex ‘ I have you now, if I play you perhaps i could fetch 40 or 50 million for you, if not your price will be reduced. I could still win things with you playing so I would rather take that risk. I have United’s best interest at heart you fucking idiot. ‘
realy hanendez is like soljshere he is lucky player
Rooney’s assist record is better than I had realised, I must admit. It confirms my view that he should play in the middle as a ‘No.10′ playmaker, with licence to get forward. His assist for Chicho’s second goal yesterday shows how it could work. It would give more power in our midfield, helping all the others around him.
So, because Rooney hasn’t had the best of seasons, he’s past his best? In that case, Anderson must be finished as well. He hasn’t recaptured the form of his first season.
Interesting stats. I think strikers normally make the difference in the league. You have got better strikers than we have. Hernandez conversion ratio must be the best. For him to be so close to Van Persie is amazing considering that he is 3rd choice at Utd. Great signing by Fergie. Will be interesting to see how it pans out. Utd have problems in midfield and get dominated away from home but you are lethal upfront. We are almost the opposite. I think it will go down to the wire
Giles,
Maybe thats his true calling ? An AM ? If that would solve our wobbly midfield problems, I’m all ready for forgiveness!
But seriously, if only he would..
57.9 goals/assists PER MINUTE??? How many in a game of 90 minutes then?
LOL just playing, Scott.
Although it’s understood, shouldn’t it be Minutes per Goal/assist..
Noticable omissions; Nasri and Bale, the ‘favourites’ for player of the year.
Arindam@KOL – to be honest, after watching him at the world cup and all of our pre-season games, this is pretty much what I expected of Hernandez, the lad has talent.
Hernandez attributes his brace to Nani and Rooney, and is happy with his playing time.
“[For my first goal], it was a good ball by Nani – I ran towards the first post and touched it over the goalkeeper.
“The second one, it was a wonderful pass from Wayne Rooney. When I received the ball I only wanted to score. That was the first thing that went through my mind.
“But [whether I play against Chelsea] is a decision the manager has to make. If he gives me one minute or 90 minutes I want to do my best.”
Giles – I agree, to me it seems that Rooney has every attribute to make a great attacking midfielder, I have been itching for Fergie to play him there for ages. Alas though, it seems he does not agree, and there’s not much we can do about that unfortunately!
smartalex – yeah I saw that interview, he has a great attitude. Twat interviewer tried to wind him up saying he’s been playing so well but he probably still won’t start next game etc… but Hernandez answered with humility as usual.
Stats can’t tell the true story – most effective player in the League is ALWAYS Vidic.
@Cedars. I agree again, keep playing him to put him in the shop window, and hope for him to get some form back.Like what the boss did with Ben Foster, prior to selling him to Birmingham, said he was a top top keeper, then sold him.
Nice to see you Dear. : D
Very good stats, again, by Scott. Two of our best players fall in the statistical categories, but Nemanja Vidic doesnt. Him and Nani need to be mentioned for the BPL’s Player of the Year.
The Super Naturals
http://www.theunitedreligion.com/2011/02/super-naturals.html
McQueen – I reckon that the United press officer coaches our players, because they are so good at avoiding the pitfalls that interviewers set up all the way through. Hernandez folks must be so proud, particularly with his Javier’s character.
Great lad, our Javier Ole Hernandez.
stat: nani has been involved in all five of United’s goals against the top four this season; Vidic has kept four clean sheets United has only conceded 1 goal in those games as well.
Where were Webb and Clattenberg placed?
Someone’s feeling bitter.
@Costas, thats disgusting, who is feeling a Bitter?
@RedScot
Tell me you didn’t think about alcohol again.
We are talking about a different type of bitter here. They are blue and taste like crap.
@Costas. Ha Ha, Loved your comment on the Scholes thread. I was gonna type 5th, but I declined.
Cant wait for the Gonners match, this afternoon.Cider chillin nicely.
Enjoy the match mate, hope you are well Costas.
off topic – Alexis Sanches with 4 goals today for Udinese.
On an unrelated note, Obafemi Martins scored on the 89th minute at Wembley. Sucks to be Gooners haha
What happened to putting the number of penalties they’d scored there as well?
How much is Javier worth now??
Using the value of Andy Carroll as a benchmark, I’d say about 75 million
@ McQueen : We may have already done this but I have to ask , ru Hayley ?
Pls say yes,pls say yes,pls say yes
:p
@McQueen: If ur s big ape on keyboards ,pretend none of this happened, move along smartly.
rooney could play the playmaking role for united very well but he needs to improve on his touch this season,i think he could be the creative force with fletch harassing the opposition and scholes/carrick playing deep.
Dave – no I’m not Hayley, sorry. I’m Steve, back from the dead.
No. 1 on that list should be Nemaja Vidic:
No. of crosses cleared out of box per game: 8.56
No. of shots blocked per game: 2.15
No. of opponents flattened per game: 6.25
No. of opponents intimidated per game: 11
