Thanks Scott. It’s a pity you’ve have Mikey’s season review 2 months before the season is over. :(

Very good first season for us. Made a believer out of me. I hope next year he will be more lucky with his fitness.

  2. Costas says:

    *you’ve made *

  3. Mauly says:

Owen’s stats are close to Tevez’s and he’s having a blinding season. Get fit for 2010/11.. So gutted he’s out, he could of been a big player in the run up!!

  4. Drabik says:

Wow, and I thought Bellamy was having a good season. I love these stats articles, even if they do not tell the whole story. I feel so bad for Michael, more so than any other player that is injured atm.

  5. asite says:

he is a fantastic player, but he seems to luv injury very much, isnt he

  6. Zainab MUFC says:

Break’s my heart that Owens supposed couple of weeks injury has ruled him out for the rest of the season.

He’s been great for us this season, everytime he pulled on that red shirt & that famous number he played his heart out. And to make his OT goal debut in the fashion he did was just friggen amazing. He’s been their when we’ve needed him this season, & you could say even though theirs 2 months left of the season, its been successfull for the ladd can I ask if we do win the EPL will he get a medal , has he made enough PL appearances?

  7. Zainab MUFC says:

To Answer my question he’s made 19 PL appearances so if we do win the league , he will def get a medall . =) .

  8. Costas says:

Speaking of injuries, I heard Essien won’t play again this season…

  9. Xyth says:

I am very sorry for him. When he played he did well for us. Had he played more he would have scored more. I have no doubt about that.

Let’s hope he recovers for next season.

  10. trevor says:

I have been very pleased with Owen and do think he has confirmed he still is a goal machine!

Felt sorry for him not getting more of a run in the game and disagree with Fergie that him and ROoney cant play together! Although never should dobt the big guy!

This new injury however unfortunite and however well he has played for us sort of confirms that for me he will end his career in and out of injury like this.

At wembley we blaimed the pitch, In moscow or wolfsberg cant remember which, the away game where he came off injured after 20 mins.. WE blaimed the pitch and conditions but to be honest there is only so much defence i can accept.

I would have really loved owen to have been fit for the remainder of the season, without him it really is a loss! However can we risk having this loss next year? I would rather not. If he stays he may just get pushed further down the pecking order!

  11. jespermoses says:

Cant ask for much more really. We always knew he’d be on the bench most of the time and that he’d probably get injured at some point.

Scored some crucial goals and a winner i’ll never forget.

He didnt cost us anything and hopefully he has contributed to our 4th in a row league win

  12. MUFCUM1 says:

How many PL games has he played? Hopfully alteast 10 so that he gets a medal if we win it.

It´s important that we piss off the scousers

  13. Chris20LEGEND says:

Review No.4 Owens season lasted longer than liverpool and city’s!

Alot of people have been saying he was a waste and we should have used Kiko, Shocking comments who ever they where, The winner against city and getting us top of the Champions league group against the german champions with no defence, then the equaliser against Villa… Id take that anyday, Kiko had 2 goals and 15 mins of fame that went to his head!

  14. Bebeto says:

Not bad for a free, eh? I expected a lot more laughing and pointing, but it looks as if Owen has done enough to ensure that his time at the club won’t go down as a failure.

Also, keep in mind that we’ll still have Owen for next season. The talk of England can now stop.

Come next season, he’ll have had time to put behind him the disappointment of his England career effectively being over. Hopefully that will spur him on to bolster his trophy count at club level. There is still plenty for him to achieve.

  15. Paul Parker says:

I was happy the moment we signed him. Say what you want but every single time he comes on with more than 2 minutes to perfom he will create at least 2 chances for HIMSELF and probably score a goal every other appearence. His movement off the ball gives other players options to play him in. Its his footballing brain that is most underrated. He knows where he needs to be to make opportunities. I was starting to feel we’d been using him too spareingly but to see him come on in the final and score shows the Alec genius all along. Owen will always be a great finisher and we should remember he’s still relatively young, you’d think he was 36 the way he is written off. Great signing, worth it for the Derby goal and Cup Final equalizer alone. I dont use the word class casually, but Owen is Class without a shadow of a doubt.

  16. willierednut says:

If united win the league, then that late, late goal against shity at ot would have been worth the gamble.

  17. RFR says:

Stts are only one side of the story.
To have the full story in stats, you would need all stats. Michael owen’s transfer has been one of convenience.
the stats do not tell us about the numerous missed chances, which were missed, some of which we absolute sitters. Then, as is often the case with players who have become injury-prone, they get injured when they’re needed most. like right now.

Owen has done ok since arriving at Old Trafford, but he has failed to convince and has not had the impact Tevez has had at Shitty.

  18. bchilds says:

Overall, definitely a success this season. I’m not convinced he should be the main back-up for us after Berba and Rooney. I would much prefer to continue the development of Diouf, Kiki and Welbeck by giving them valuable game time but he did well this season.

  19. Tom says:

An ok cameo season from Owen but without going to LUHG why are we shopping in the bargain bin labeled ex-great but injury prone? Alongside Rooney and Berbs we need at least one proven fit goal scorer, or better still as in 1998-9 two.

Oh and don’t give me that crap about value – when was SAF ever interested in value when it was the PLC if he wanted it he paid what it good (Veron, Rio et. al.)

  20. Tom says:

should have said “paid what it took”

  21. Fred says:

    “Accolades
2nd highest scorer in the Champions League (behind 1st place Cristiano Ronaldo)”

Whaddyaknow, Owen is now tied with 9 other players on 4 CL goals. Shame he won’t be able to reclaim his “2nd highest scorer” crown but I suppose that’s a major drawback of your season ending three months early due to yet another injury.

So let’s save the comparisons with Bellamy, Cole, Crouch, Tevez and whoever else until the season is actually over. (I mean the real, 9 month football season, not the 6 month ‘Owen season.’)
