STATS: Penalties for Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, City and United

Summary
- Arsenal have been awarded more penalties than any other Premier League club in 3 of the last 8 seasons. City have been awarded more in 2 out of 8 seasons. United and Chelsea have been awarded more in 1 of the 8 seasons.

- Arsenal and City have conceded more penalties than any other Premier League club in 1 of the last 8 seasons.

- Arsenal have had the most penalties awarded for and against them in the last 8 seasons.

- Chelsea have had the fewest penalties awarded against them in the last 8 seasons.

- Over 8 seasons, there is a difference of 11 penalties awarded for between Arsenal and United, or 1.4 a season. There is a difference of 17 penalties awarded against between Arsenal and Chelsea, or 2.1 a season. Essentially, the difference is negligible so any argument suggesting the refs give preferential treatment to one club is pretty soft.

Disclaimer
- This table is just a comparison of these five clubs. The clubs which had the most penalties for and against have been included to give some perspective.

- How many penalties each club is awarded doesn’t prove anything as it is the quality of the decisions that would determine any preferential treatment.

- Attacking/dominating teams are going to spend more time in their opponent’s box than less successful teams. They are also less likely to have the opposition in their own box. This can have bearing on the opportunity for a penalty to be awarded for or against.

MG Spot on son. Been going on about the handball for 2 days now and nobody seems interested.
Hit the lad 2 places on the arm. He reacts by dropping his shoulder and putting the ball out. Evans and Rio have been done by similar calls in the last year alone. Do united complain? no. We get on with it. The belly aching from Viera and the support now from Chitty Chitty ban out of order is beyond it for me. Yet another case of bringing the game into disrepute if you ask me.

Flood the FA! City to be docked 10 points for… for well….. for being City

    Pathetic lot.

    Sir Alex Presser:
Expecting the same squad available as for Fulham.
Injuries: “We expect Nani to train tomorrow but the game will come too soon for him. Lindegaard was training very well and maybe overdid it. We’ve given him a week off and he should be back before the end of the season.”

Hate Monday games but bring it on! 3 points on send them on their way.

STR. Can we have a thread on the singing section proposal mate?

Seems it has been fleshed out and sounds like a plan the club will support.

    Plan as I understand it:
    1. Move away section (old score board area) to 3rd tier
    2. Offer current ST holders first crack

This region of the stand already has decent acoustics and is part of the reason away fans are heard so well.
Club is already in talks about this and has support of Stretty end flags and other groups.

Sounds a great idea and would love to hear more. OT atmosphere has been pants for years. Needs a complete rethink. I would also support a modern standing area. Give fans options. It is the way to a dynamic and updates future for our great stand.

Thanks Fletch about time common sense prevailed absolutely fucking sick with people saying Fulham deserved a penalty and not point out ours.

  9. CedarsDevil says:

Better atmosphere at OT? Demolish the K stand

Arsenal should have had alot more, clearly got a low number of penalties compared to what they should have had. Never got one awarded at home all last season.
