STATS: Rooney Has Already Replaced Ronaldo and Tevez’s Goals

Cristiano Ronaldo scored 18 goals in 33 games for Manchester United last season, whilst Carlos Tevez scored 5 goals in 29 games.

With February drawing to an end, Wayne Rooney has now scored 23 goals in 27 games.

Of course, Wayne Rooney scored 12 goals himself in the league last season, so it’s not a case of us matching all our goals with last season, but with 11 games still left to play, you wouldn’t bet against Rooney coming close to achieving it. Why? Because in his last 11 games he has scored 11 goals in the league, not counting the goal against City in the League Cup semi final, as well as the two goals he scored against AC Milan at the San Siro.

Rooney has played in 2301 minutes this season so far, which works out at a goal per every 100 minutes.

Last season, Cristiano Ronaldo played in 2746 minutes of football, which works out at a goal per every 153 minutes. In his first 2301 minutes of the season, Ronaldo had scored 11 goals.

Last season, Tevez played 1856 minutes of football, which worked out at a goal per every 371 minutes.

At this point last season we had scored 48 goals. This seson we have scored 66 goals, more than any other team.

However, after 28 games last season we had picked up 66 points, compared to the 60 we currently have.

Unlike recent seasons when our defence have played a massive part in securing the title, injuries at the back have meant our defensive record is nowhere near as strong. The difference in the number of games our first choice defence have played this seaon compared to last is shocking, and when you compare our defensive injuries with those of our rivals, it really is no surprise we’re lagging behind. The fact that there is only a six point difference between this season and last is testament to what an excellent job our attack our doing. (Check out comprehensive statistics on our defence this season.)

All in all, we could be in a much better position than we are, but given our circumstances, we’re looking pretty good. There’s still 30 points on offer and 3 of those will be decided when Chelsea come to Old Trafford, with them yet to make a trip to the home of the champions. It’s starting to get tasty now!

    Whenever someone leaves united someone else will step up and help us to keep what we had…. GOALS and CLASS

  3. aig alex is god says:

    Rooney certainly is enjoying himself. However i think last season should not be used as a benchmark for any comparision.Deep down inside we know it wasnt the best season footballing wise.We were more efficient in getting the job done than really playing the attractive football we are known for.The 2 seasons before that were excellent and we should look up to those seasons and try to match them or even better them

    Lets not forget United are the side that sets the Benchmark for the rest of the league to follow. Its difficult but we have to try and improve every season and given the circumstances this season we have done really well.

  4. Emily Jane 3 weeks till she hits old trafford says:

    In his last 19 games he’s scored 19 goals so we replaced the greatest player in the world and the Argie gimp with a player we already had and added Valencia to the mix and finally tApped into nanis gifts.

  5. Costas says:

    The defence has led to our downfall this season.

  6. Stephen says:

    We’re fcuked if he gets injured….

  7. steamdigit says:

    we cant really blame our defence though, its been chopped and changed so freuently its ridicuous. anyways, we have never really been known for our defence throughout history – we have had good runs now and then, but lets face it, we are never ever going to be like the famous gooners 1-0 teams ;p

    30 pts is still alot, but we have to continue to do our best – which we have hardly ever seen this season so far.

    after the everton game, i am pretty sure, fergie is not going to let it go by without milking it for all its worth in our run-up to the end of the season. he’s great at using all these “teachable” moments, so we continue to look forward to the title

    the attack has been great, however, other than rooney, we still need the rest of the team to chip in more – even other teams are scoring for us…lol which is down to the pressure we put them under

    i love it when i get to hear the crowd cheering for our team “Attack, Attack, Attack”…love it, too bad i cant be there :)

    lets blow everyone out of the water in these last few weeks…take each game at a time and get them out of the way :)

    carling cup in the trophy cabinet first please – any silverware will spur us

  8. wayne says:

    ronaldo is a great but has a problem with his ego, he was fighting with his teammates over the penalty for real’s sixth goal on saturday,his selfishness creates resentment among other players and i’m guessing divides dressing rooms, i’m not sure if any utd player would want him back.roony is the polar opposite everybody must love playing with him,ronaldo leaving has let roony become the focal point of the team and he’s producing, to me thats more important than comparing stats

  9. Costas says:

    @steamdigit

    That’s the thing. On a transitional season for our attack, we needed our defence to have some stability. Not to get hit with the worst injury crisis we have ever seen at the club. Rio and Nemanja haven’t played together since October. That’s bad enough. If we had a healthy defensive unit, then this season would have gone even better for us.

    I hope this season will give Ferguson a lot of insight about our defendes and who he can rely on.

  10. King Eric says:

    Why do people worry with things like we are fucked if he gets injured? He isn’t injured is he so what is the point in saying things like this? Also people say without Rooney we would be fucked. Well we have got Rooney so again pointless. We would have been fucked without Eric, Robbo, Keano, Ruud, etc. Just like people said we would be fucked without Ron and we all know what has happened. As a couple of us said the other day IF he did get injured somebody else would get the goals like Berba or Owen given extended runs in the team.

  11. King Eric says:

    wayne – Alright mate. Yeah I saw that the other night Ronnie sulking because Alonso took the pen. Pathetic behaviour which I REALLY do not miss at United. It was a fucking dive to begin with to get the pen.

  12. ajopaul says:

    Imagine the stat with our defence in full form !

    Off topic, for those in India you can grab the 07/08 DVDs including the CL final vs Chelsea from here. http://www.moserbaerhomevideo.com/title-view.htm?titleid=7051

  13. ajopaul says:

    Yet no regret! we have had to work hard all the time to secure results.. Amazing..

  14. Muggaz says:

    I would like to see how many Valencia assists to Rooney goals there have been. Sure, he doesn’t have a left foot, but boy is his right foot good. That first time ball last night for our first goal was nothing short of spectacular. I am excited for the title run in, and our lads can be extremely proud whatever happens, after dealing with the injuries we have had this year, they have done extremely well.

  15. ManchestHairUnited says:

    those “six” points against chelsea will be massive

  16. ManchestHairUnited says:

    i’m hungry

  17. brett1985 says:

    Scott you are obsessed with this kind of post and I’ve been obsessed with telling you it is irrelevant. It all stems from your past remarks to the effect of us being better off without Ronaldo. Be honest about what you are trying to say here. I look at last year, indeed the last 2 years and I first of all see a much higher goalscoring total for Ronaldo. You’ve never really explained why comparisons with last season are so valid. 68 goals is never the aim. But the greatest logic comes from the fact that in order to emulate last season or the season before, we need to win the league cup, get to the semi finals of the Fa cup, get to or possibly win the champions league final and win the league back to back.

    You ultimately strange way of presenting statistics is more than likely going to pale in comparison when trophies are accounted for, though I sincerely hope I am wrong. Your statistics are fact, but the implication that this season has been in any way good is not one I find satisfactory. I find it very hard to take solice in your stats when we lie second in the league and to date have been dumped out of the FA cup. I have faith in the team but faith it is- it is not certainty.

  18. King Eric says:

    brett1985 – You beggar belief mate. The ONLY time you come on here is to protect your precious Ronaldo. Laughable. Are you his PR agent?

    ———————–

    Not true, but then again you stalk me round the blog and criticise any comment I make regarding Ronaldo even though once again the topic is about Ronaldo. I’m done being nice to you, you are a total wanker who wont get off my back simply because I have a positive view about Ronaldo. Indeed my post trivially dealt with Ronaldo and mainly dealth with this seasons prospects. You really should just fuck off.

  20. RED SAM says:

    Brett 1895 & king eric

    whats the point of your argument ? There is no doubt ronnie was/is a massive player. Can you guys really make an argument regarding him ?
    Brett has every right to defend him if necessary, but then king eric is also right there is no point overhyping in all posts. Move on guys

  21. Swissdevil says:

    so, this actually means we are a two man team? how many goals scored Own Goal so far? ;-)

  22. Emily Jane 3 weeks till she hits old trafford says:

    Saturday is huge if Chelsea lose points against City then I really do fancy us again.

  25. brett1985 says:

    Red Sam

    There is no argument, expect whenever I post in a topic about Ronaldo, King Eric is usually always there with a comment to the effect that I am a fanboy or obsessive. inevitably several others latch onto this. I just prefer to stick accurately to the point that aspiring to emulate or usurp a 68 goal season is beside the point. Trophies were the measure of last season. As anyone with a brain can tell that has nothing to do with protecting ronaldo, it is about portrarying accurately the aims for this team.

  26. Park's Dog's Dinner says:

    Why come on here & complain about what Scott says or does on HIS OWN BLOG!!!
    Brett, as much as you may be right or wrong, get a life mate!! Scott could be ‘obsessed’ with League One mascots for all I care!! If you don’t like it, jog on!!

  27. Mozza79 says:

    Brett1985 in your condemnation of this season and our supposed inevitable trophylessness you completely forget about the defensive injury crisis we’ve had to deal with this season. I don’t think it’s a stretch at all to say we’d be top of the league if it weren’t for that and everyone would be in agreement that the TEAM had improved since Ronaldo left. Not only have we scored a shitload more goals this season as a TEAM but the football is far better to watch.

  28. kel says:

    Rooney had a great season and on good form. I still think we should not condemn Ronaldo. He is a winger. We should just concentrate and dont be complacent. Let Rooney perform at the finals well and we on the way to see hm become world player.

  29. RED SAM says:

    All of you seems to amaze me, once king eric has “criticized” brett, you lot jumps on board and follows suite.
    Scott is the author and this is his blog, but does that not gurrantee him correction if he goes wrong ?
    Get off brett’s back and get life yourselves !!!

  30. welbz19 says:

    good stats and i do enjoy reading them! but the only thing that matters is whether we will champions in may! Rooney has stepped his game up so much this season and we are lucky to have him!

  31. JD says:

    Scott I think its better to compare Rooneys goals to 07/08 campaign Ronaldo. Ronaldo last season was a good benchmark, but Rooneys now ahead of it.

    After 27 games of 07/08, Ronaldo scored 25 and finished with 31, Rooney is on 23. (source daily mail)
    SO CLOSE

  32. Cantona says:

    Chelsea still have to go to united Liverpool and spurs. We only have to go to wastelands.

    Rooney the New KING!

  35. Swissdevil says:

    GHTT: Imagine… the Rooney twins instead of da Silva twins.. :-)

  36. RedDeviled Egg says:

    And once again, Scott has proven that he has not, nor will not, forget Tevez and Ronaldo. Take the season for what it is mate. Rooney has the Midas touch this year. He’s elevated himself to be one of, if not the best, strikers in the world.
    Enough with the Ronaldo vs. Tevez business.
    Maybe look at who the fuck else has scored for us. Take Rooney’s goals out of the equation and we’d be hooped!!

  37. RedDeviled Egg says:

    also, Brett1985 > King Eric

  38. lucasthebest says:

    I just want to win the trophy with whoever we have now.. Doesn’t matter whom we had in past …

    Just let us win the League Cup … then PL .. then we will talk about the past players in summer when England perform repeated same old story line.. booorrrinnnggg!

  39. Kings says:

    I felt that Everton and Citeh were the toughest fixtures we had left. Unfortunately we were piss poor against Everton, but at least that one is out of the way now. Even if Chelsea were to regain their 4 point lead on Saturday (hopefully Citeh can nick a draw – I’ll be happy with that!), I still think we are not off the pace as they still have to come to Old Trafford, as well as having to visit Anfield and White Hart Lane, venues where they could come unstuck (fingers crossed). So all in all we are still in a healthy position despite that setback at Goodison. Come on United!

  40. King Eric says:

    Red Devilled Egg – Ooh sticking up for Bretty boy now just because we have had our differences. Get fucked.

    brett1985 – I hacve absolutely nowt against you to be honest and to be fair you always make good points. Right or wrong though you usually ONLY post on the Ronaldo topics? I may of course be wrong . Anyway pointless falling out, we both support the same thing and we will agree to disagree.

  41. King Eric says:

    Anyway Red Devilled Egg what the fuck has a “disagreement” between Brett and I got to do with you? Taking sides is really rather pathetic pal just because we have had some differences.

  42. Ashish says:

    The fact that Rooney has already replaced Ronaldo’s and Tevez’s goals shows just how dependent we are on Rooney for goals this season.

  43. King Eric says:

    Red Sam – Oh so now I am the leader and people follow suit on here to condemn brett?

  44. King Eric says:

    Devil is Red – Yeah just read that link you posted on the most hated teams. The ONLY reason United are on there is out of bitterness and jealousy. Like you say the reasons they give to justify it are all myths. We get all the decisions. No we don’t. We are lucky. No we are not, well maybe we are sometimes but you make your own luck. Pathetic article really.

  45. Emily Jane 3 weeks till she hits old trafford says:

    king eric is saying why are people licking ronaldos ass instead of our own Rooney
    we all know Ronaldo is a top player in world football
    we all know what he has done for us
    but i agree with king eric whats the point in praising an ex over the star of our team with evra
    we all know fletcher is a football genius but theres no point in saying he’s no brian mcclair

  46. John Ferry says:

    Rooney stands on the right hand of our father SAF. Having said that, with Ronaldo and tevez we did have more diversity up front.

  47. King Eric says:

    emily jane hits oldtrafford – Thank you matey. Another thing that annoys me is when people say “take Rooneys goals away and we are fucked”. Yeah because Owen cannot find the net can he or Berba hasn’t scored 5 in his last 6. I just CANNOT understand the negativity sometimes. But those people then say we wear red tinted glasses. Maybe I do but in most arguments I have had I have been right. Like our midfield isn’t shite or Owen can still finish or even Rooney IS world class. I just will always back the team that is what been a SUPPORTER is all about. I am not that arrogant to think I am never wrong either before anyone starts. There is no right and wrong actually thinking about it its just opinions but some of them I see on here are just bizarre. No disrespect and this isn’t meant to be funny but some fans have only been following United a few years so they aren’t fully aware what United are all about. They think “oh no Ronnie is gone we are fucked”. Little do they realise United have been here time and time again under Fergie and he 90 per cent of the time gets it spot on. He is building yet another team. A living fucking legend but still people doubt him.

  48. Scott the Red says:

    Brett – you say my way of presenting statistics is “strange”. Why? Comparing goals scored by different players is not strange, is it?

    Sadly, I think you missed the part of the article where I talked about our defence. Maybe you should read that article and things would make more sense to you. Of course we’re not better off this season because we haven’t had our defenders for the vast majority of it. But there is no denying our attack is better this season. 18 goals better in fact!

    RedDeviled Egg – At the beginning of the season, much was said about who was going to replace Ronaldo and Tevez’s goals. I just found it fairly interesting that by February Rooney had done just that.

    The argument of “if you take Rooney’s goals away…” is nonsense. People said that about Ronaldo for years. You can’t take a player’s goals away from the team, because if they weren’t scoring them, somebody else would be (just as Rooney has proved since the exit of Ronaldo). But out of interest, if we were to take Rooney’s goals away… we would have scored just 5 less than we had done at this same point last season! So thanks for pointing that out!

  50. Gee says:

    @ King Eric

    HERE, HERE!!

    There’s alot of shit being banded about between people on here today init!!
    Anyway we were great with Ronnie (Tevez was shite tho, touch of a rapist) and we are great now with The White Pele. Speaking of El Blanco, that fucking flick up and volley that dipped just over the bar last night was GENIUS!! I had flashbacks of the king that was Eric!!

  51. Emily Jane 3 weeks till she hits old trafford says:

    the real question is
    whos gonna score the goals now that ruuds gone he’s manchester united record goal scorer in europe so i guess thats that trophy gone he’ll just win it with madrid. . and as for the 16th league title i think we can count that out

  52. theboogeyman says:

    King Eric- I saw what you said on some other thread about MUC08/micheal being back mate. I’ve been saying it for some time, as have you.

    As for the argument that without Rooney, we’re fucked, it’s bullshit.

    Like Scott said, they said we were fucked without Ronaldo, but look at this article’s name.

  53. rooney the new king says:

    brett1985 – the fact remains ronaldo was woeful last season, I rate ronaldo’s season last year has his worse and I was suprised we got 80 million for him, because ronaldo last season played like he was worth 14 million let alone 80 million.

    yes rooney has blown tevez and ronaldo out of the water but it woull dne nice to still have all 3 oh well they are gone and the only way I ll feel satisfyed that the shadowsof ronaldo and tevez are gone is if the title remains at OT.

    We all have diferent opinions we may call each other this and that but it would be a very boring site if we all agreed. bret has his views, king eric has his scott costas and GHTT has their’s, if we all agreed would we even bother coming on here.

  54. Emily Jane 3 weeks till she hits old trafford says:

  57. rooney the new king says:

    Emily Jane 3 weeks till she hits old trafford – well PPL are mixing me up with someone that I have not even heard of. It is called freedom of speech is every time someone slaggs of berbatov they are named by that username that really got everyone angry. I have seen a phew usernames called that but I dont change my username once I get one username I stick by it, why would I choose my username and all of a sudden change it when my views wont change it is not my style.

  58. Fred says:

    Seems Wayne Ronney has saved Malcolm Galzer a cool £105m. Ch-ching!

    Srsly though, got to say I’m amused by this ‘one-man team’ nonsense the ABUs are coming out with. If we didn’t have Rooney we’d be scrapping for 4th place apparently. Yeah, and if a frog had wings it wouldn’t bump its ass when it hopped. Cunts.

  59. Chris20LEGEND says:

    Does this mean Rooney is another 80 million for the leeches to cash in on! i think so… LUHG

  66. rooney the new king says:

    aig alex is god – I would not call myself a glory hunter well I did support them about 91 but I will propably have to bite my tongue I knew I should not have sent that post it may have been true but it was negative I admit that, but did I say we nee 5 players I said we are 1 world class striker away from being a great side european and championship winning side again.

    I dont always speak negitive it is just our fixture list looks the toughest of the 3 when you see also we are a pt behind chelsea and they have a game in hand. well it depends if chelsea can survive anfield and OT if they cannot I think united or arsenal may take the title but it also depends on how we do against liverpool chelsea and shitty away they are the key fixtures. I think arsenal can win the league when you see their fixture list.

  67. aig alex is god says:

    @Costas

    same here mate.thanks.

    Do you have an id on the rom forum?.

  68. rdhanson says:

  78. Wazza says:

    One statistic that you missed Scott.

However i think last season should not be used as a benchmark for any comparision.Deep down inside we know it wasnt the best season footballing wise.We were more efficient in getting the job done than really playing the attractive football we are known for.The 2 seasons before that were excellent and we should look up to those seasons and try to match them or even better them
    `
    give me a break and just get behind the team instead of hiding behind a few nice words at the start
    if you tell someone they have a nice cosy house
    your really saying “fuck man this place is tiny”

  85. rooney the new king says:

    well I hope inter play at a high tempo and pull chelsea about like rag dolls

  86. arijc says:

    @ aig
    Mourinho’s 150 odd unbeaten run is for league football only.

  87. READ CAREFULLY WHAT I says:

    Nice read Scott.
    I love these statistics that are easy for the intellectually challenged like me.
    Thanks for doing the number crunches so we dont have to.
    Right, tongue removed from buttocks and on to tonight.

    It would suit us to have Chelsea kept as busy as possible until losing everything at the end of the year.
    I would prefer Inter to beat them though because the psychology of losing can take a bit of shaking off and if they are out of the CL then the only worthwhile thing worth bothering about would be the Prem. That is when they would crumble.
    John Terry will be trying to anally violate Cheryl Cole before long and then Chelsea will unravel.

  88. aig alex is god says:

    @ghtt

    Whats wrong with that post?

    Atleast you bother to read my post. ;-)

    i think the post does make sense.Not moaning but you know yourself last season wasnt the best and Scott has said it himself.

    As far as backing the team goes, i always will and have done that as i told you i never like slagging any of our players and i dont believe any of our fans should say ‘he should fuck off’ and such things. Criticism is fine but it must be constructive criticism, only then it makes sense

  89. theboogeyman says:

    RTNK- Mate I’m not jumping on a bandwagon, I said it long back, ask King Eric, hopefully he remembers. If you’re not micheal/MUC08, I apologise for the accusation.

    I come on RoM to talk about United, not have childish fights.

    http://therepublikofmancunia.com/we-often-score-six-but-we-seldom-score-ten/

    Look at that. Go through the first few comments, there’s a guy called Nas.
    That fellow was here for some time, all negative, and then he extremely triumphantly( I think he thought he was a spy or something) tells us he’s a dipper. So please excuse my lack of faith in others that I may have sometimes. :)

    Feel free to go through some of the articles from then on, you’ll see what I said is true.

    Fred- Possibly.

  90. aig alex is god says:

    @arjic

    you are correct.i think he did lose against Barcelona in 2005 but he still has great record.slipped out of my mind

    Thanks for mentioning it.

  91. theboogeyman says:

    GHTT, AIG- Both of you are making valid points, but for fucks’ sake, we all support United as much as the other. Chill out, stop having gos at each other.

  92. aig alex is god says:

    @Boogeyman

    Hi mate. How are you?. Where have you been?.

    I may be pessimistic and negative but when it comes to backing United i am right behind the team. My posts may not indicate that way but i support United as much as anyone of us.

  93. rooney the new king says:

    theboogeyman – it is fine dont apoligize I can be a TWAT my family who are united fans get pissed off with me because of my bitching because I say we are short of a striker. but I want to clear it all up I am not that idiot if I have a real negitive thing to say I will keep it to myself because I do not want to get mixed up with that idiot. But I dont change my username it is not my style, once I have a username I stick with it I have one e mail that I have had for years. I will be posting in the coming months and years on this site with this username RTNK.

  94. rooney the new king says:

    theboogeyman – but scott drew me in with what he said and anon bated me in and I fell for the trap sorry about the post, but the point I was getting acrross is I worry when united face very strong compact sides when we go a goal behind we dont seem to come up with an answer away from home mostly. I want that cleared up and talk about football, but if you want to call me by my real name it is jason.

  95. aig alex is god says:

    @Costas

    have sent you my ID

    hope inter win. You are right about the fixtures but thinking from our point of view given we progress i would rather face Inter than Chelsea.

  96. Paul Jeffrey says:

    Lucky that Rooney is playing so well, love the stats by the way!

  97. welbz19 says:

    @fred its a catch22 dont like giving them cunts my money but love watching the academy and reserve games! also where does it stop, i have a season ticket and im not prepared to give it up as after a long week at work its something to look forward to at the end of each week! so they are gonna get money off me regardless!

  98. rooney the new king says:

    aig alex is god – I dont mind either teams. I think united can beat either team.

  99. aig alex is god says:

    @rtnk

    Of course we can, no denying it. I feel we will find it harder against Chelsea than against Inter, thats all.

  100. rooney the new king says:

    AIG – I agree but chelsea are there for the taken especially with no essien their pedestrian midfield is there to be overrun

  101. Costas says:

    I just realised why we didn’t play the West Ham game next week. England play a friendly with Egypt. Damn, Wazza won’t catch any breaks will he? Unless he doesn’t start the League cup final, but that’s unlikely.

    @AIG

    Just answered.

  102. aig alex is god says:

    @rtnk

    Essien will be back by then mate. he has been one of the reason they have struggled of late

  103. rooney the new king says:

    AIG – yea he propably will but he is not the player he once was and I find him injury prone now, much like hargreaves now. glad vidic is back but I still find PPL are using the injury crisis at the back has an excuse, evans and brown at the back is well and enough to cope with evertons pedestrian style which is one dimensional, I think the midfield got overan.

  104. Gee says:

    @ AIG

    What record of Mourinho’s is this mate? 150 unbeaten at Inter? coz they lost to Sampdoria, Juve and Barca between September and December 09 mate. Im not having a go or anything pal, I’m just abit confused by that lol!!

  105. aig alex is god says:

    @Gee

    he hasnt lost in 157 home league games since his time at Porto,Chelsea and now inter.Great record that. has had a close shave many times but has got away with it each time

  106. swapnil says:

    scott please don’t even compare the stats with last season’s numbers.last season we scored fewer no of goals than usual.we won the title last season bcoz of our defence.we were always gonna do better this season.if at all you wanna copare,compare it with the season before…no offence against rooney,he’s been phenomenal,i just think its a useless post!!

  107. King Eric says:

    emily jane – I ain’t a Manc mate I am from Yorkshire of all places. Between Leeds and York
    and yes its got to be Michael.

    theboogeyman – Hi mate wondered where you had been. I know you have said exactly the same as me and we are bloody right but he will not admit it!

    Gee – Hello mate, cheers. Yes that flick up and volley last night was outrageous as was his effort from the corner flag having put Green into the Stretford end!

    I may have other people I want to reply to but only got so far and leaving work now.

  108. rooney the new king says:

    King Eric – you can say I am that username but I am not, so I made some comments about berbatov that still does not make me that username.

  109. rooney the new king says:

    and my name is jason how clear can you get

  110. LunG420 says:

    how nice would it be to see cech get injured tonight.

  111. arijc says:

    @ rooney the new king
    just ignore king eric.

  112. rooney the new king says:

    arijc – maybe I should but they are basically saying I am not a true united fan but just a plastic which I find insulting.

  113. LunG420 says:

    haha gooo inter 1-0

  114. hundone says:

    If anything is going to stop Wayne from getting the Ballon d’Or in 2010 is our own team.

    Let’s pray he gets it in the end of the year. It will mean we won something decent…

    Come the fuck on United!

  115. Its in my blood says:

    Just logged on and can’t believe whats happening on here today!
    WTF?
    Our normally cosy site is being torn apart by…er…not sure what actually.
    Let me tell you all now, i blame .
    Perhaps Tufty is back after all and has somehow infected us with something!
    We all obviously get a great deal of satisfaction from ROM and therefore it’s surely fair to say we’d all miss the banter if we decided not to participate anymore.
    I suppose we should just simply look at ourselves and understand that we can only really influence our own action and behaviour. That IS in our control no matter how wound up we may feel about anyone elses behaviour.
    Apologies if i sound like i’m preaching, i don’t mean to come across like that, i just prefer it when we leave the anger, hatred and bollocks to the scousers, bitters and rentboys.

  116. Costas says:

    @Its in my blood

    I don’t know anything about astrology, but it seems like our moons(or something like that) are all mixed up and we are fighting amingst us. Or maybe it’s because squeaky bum time has come early this year!

    At least it was a pleasure to watch Milito turn tiny tears inside out!

  117. PAUL Parker says:

    fuck knows what you lot are banging on about but im enjoying Terry being taken apart by Inter….

    Wouldn’t be surprised if Chelsea nick a draw but had ETO put that second chance away it would be curtains. Beautiful play leading up to it – This is what I mean when I bang on about Chelsea not being about to hack teams that come at them, they’re frail at the back against strong teams. Still disappointed we didn’t finish them off at the Bridge. Hopefully City do that for us. Anyway, the funniest part about tonights game is the commentators constantly trumpting Chelsea. I don’t care how much possession the RentBoys have they’re being played off the PARK so far. They even said Militos opener was “lucky” – Lucky how? It was always curling away from Cech and he still got tips to it, so Milito putting curl on the ball under pressure to swing it into the left side of goal was a marvelous strike. Typical clinical finish. So credit where its due, if it was Lampard putting it away like that they’d scream BRILLIANT !!!!! For me, the fact it was Terry turned inside out for that first goal makes it even sweeter. LOL. Inter are playing very well lets hope they get another and fuck up Chelseas season ahead of the City game….

  118. PAUL Parker says:

    bullshit !!!!!!!

  119. Costas says:

    Eto came close, but in fairness, Chelsea looked stronger in the first half. To me anyway.

  120. Costas says:

    2-1!

  121. AustrianDevil says:

    Cech injured, looks like an ACL, MCL

  122. LunG420 says:

    i called it cech is down!!!

  123. LunG420 says:

    i said it before the match kicked off scroll up

  124. rooney the new king says:

    Like I say without essien chelsea’s looks to be completly overun. you can see at time why chelsea are an ageing side and why they will need more changes than united.

  125. redscot says:

    LOL @ Chelscum. guess what yer 1st Choice keeper is Fucked. Ligament damage. We are coming to get YOU. Just Excellent. ON on ON

  126. PAUL Parker says:

    stoke just scored, this night gets better and better…

  127. PAUL Parker says:

    spoke too soon….

  128. redscot says:

    @ Paul Parker. As I told tolt the other nite postive post’s keep my world alive. Belive……. On on ON. Aint it Magic to be a Real believer.

  129. White Pele says:

    Early reports do not look good for Cech, heard ligament damage from multiple sources, maybe ACL

  130. Costas says:

    @LunG420

    Any chance you could tell me the lottery numbers? :P

    I watched 80 out of the 90 minutes of this game and I missed all goals. How did that happen? Mourinho will have to come up with something better if he wants to survive at the Bridge. He won’t go through with Catenaccio.

    Shit! City will play extra time and they will miss Adebayor at the Bridge. Typical fuck ups!

  131. redscot says:

    Lads we do really need to watch the other side,Me personally want the Spuds in 4th place.
    I am really more interested in the set up( Team) for The Villians, If The REAL great One plays the wrong midfield= Doomed. lol. all I can really say in all honesty, Let’s shout like fookking crazy on sunday Lads

  132. Costas says:

    @White Pele

    That’s a big loss. Pity City will be toothless on Saturday…

  133. Costas says:

    2-1 Stoke. :)

  134. LunG420 says:

    YESSS 2-1 10 MEN!!!

  135. LunG420 says:

    3-1 YESSSS NO SILVER FOR THE BLUES!!!

  136. rooney the new king says:

    I am not toaly happy with the result today, has usual lucky chelsea nick a result and mourinho you can tell is not happy about the result

  137. Xyth says:

    Mourinho may regret not scoring more tonight. His substitutions although ambitious were ineffective. Inter were playing better before the substitutions. They hardly tested Hilario.

    If Cech is out for the season, and that cunt that is their captain playing badly, you’d expect them to drop point’s in the Premiership.

  138. LunG420 says:

    i think i have the right lotto number everytime i play n i get so pissed off when they dont come out…

  139. Costas says:

    So, when should we expect Mankini to come to OT and tear the banner down? :D

    I hope the fuckers will have something left for Saturday.

  140. PAUL Parker says:

    Did i just hear correctly stoke are 3-1 up in extra time???

  141. White Pele says:

    34 years. let’s all laugh at city

  142. rooney the new king says:

    Costas – well with the mourinho wannabe incharge I wont be suprised if shitty do nowt because since they were destroyed at OT they have been awful and the banner stays up. What was that the power in manchester has shifted yes and if I was a wheel I would be a wagon

  143. Costas says:

    @Paul Parker

    Yes.

  144. rooney the new king says:

    well with chelsea’s problems getting worse united may not get a better chance to win 4 titles in a row, arsenal also must think they can win it.

  145. Costas says:

    @RTNK

    Yeah, Arsenal are dark horses and very much still in it. I guess ligament damage was the order of the week. We lost Ando(God knows for how long) but they lost Cech.

    I don’t wish injury to anyone, but now we might see Chelsea tested. Like we have been since the start of the season.

  146. Costas says:

    By the way, I hope Fergie will have some news about Ando in this week’s press conference.

  147. knightsmith says:

    Citeh fans where are you now? you make Lord Lucan look a pest!

  148. rooney the new king says:

    Costas – what I am hearing is anderson has done his back in

  149. Costas says:

    @RTNK

    That was Rio’s problem wasn’t it? Ando’s is knee related.

  150. the scottish wonder says:

    when is the next chance for City to win a title?

    carling cup 2011?

    thats more than a year from now…

  151. rooney the new king says:

    Costas – say cech has had a bad injury you ad the scum back cole’s injury and all of a sudden not only do chelsea lose the pace on the flanks and the precence in goal and with essiens consistant injurys not only are chelsea going to lack the legs in midfield, but their lack of quality on the flanks it is going to be a huge problem. I do not think chelsea have the indurance to got to OT and anfield with this kind of loss, for me arsenal are a much bigger threat to uniteds chences of 4 titles in a row because of arsenals easy fixture list. if these are long term injurys I would not be suprised if chelsea finished 3rd

  152. rooney the new king says:

    Costas – someone said on MUTV he has injured his back

  153. Costas says:

    @RTNK

    I know you guys were discussing about Essien earlier. He is a loss. But he should be back in the following weeks. Cech and Cole are done for the season. That’s why I want them to get past Inter. They can’t handle 3 fronts with their squad.

    Arsenal have the easiest program by far, but here’s the catch for them. They will struggle with teams fighting for their lives, like Stoke. I don’t want to say who’s is the favorite right now. I really can’t. I just wish Chelsea drop some points soon and we go back to touching distance.

  154. Costas says:

    @RTNK

    Did they? Ando a back injury? I was pretty sure it was his knee last night.

  155. Costas says:

    35 years….

  156. Gee says:

    Some great results tonight!! Come on Utd fucking win everything we can, starting Sunday!!!!

    @ AIG

    Right I see lol!! now it makes sense!! It is an impressive record but I hate the way his teams play football, it’s just abit dull for me. He wins things playing that way tho no doubt and you can’t argue with results I guess mate.

    @ King Eric

    Yeah he is on fire at the mo init. Simply unplayable when he performs like he is right now mate!!

  157. Its in my blood says:

    @Costas

    Hi mate, yeah thats what i was thinking, the extra time for the lemon eaters!
    Lets face it though, it’s great to keep our banner up and those bitters…dear oh dear…be prepared for bitterness never seen before!
    @LunG420

    What a call! Would you mind posting something along the lines of ” i hope Its in my blood hits the Euro millions this week”? I could really do with it…i’d only need another 10k on top of that to pay my debts off!

  158. rooney the new king says:

    Costas – what are the chances of essien used at fullback again, some dont realise how heavily chelsea rely on their first team. You sure cech is done for the season if he is can anyoen see hilario doing it all season I cant. But I think tevez can really hassel this static chelsea side, and with adebayors pace upfront chelsea’s backline may have 1 to many games for them to cope, well if shtty think they are all that they will go there and beat chelsea but I forgot the mourinho wannabe is incharge and they will park the bus that has blown shittys chances LOL

  159. rooney the new king says:

    I may have heard it wrong but I was really sure it was his back he has injured but I do hear things half and half I do live in my own world at times HAHA.

  160. Costas says:

    @RTNK

    It will depend on how much he has damaged his ligaments. It could be a few weeks, it could be 3-4 months. We will see. They also have that lad Turnbull don’t they? :D

    Adebayor will miss the game. The idiot got sent off tonight…

  161. Fze123 says:

    Lol; all these pundits and journos must feel like total dickheads after continuously banging on about ‘the shift in power in Manchester’. City’s final chance of winning a trohpy has gone out the window. I actually reckon they will be keen to get a point against the rentboys now. I hope so anyway.

    Inter should have killed the game off should have added another goal; they were the better team. Don’t like Lucio but he is one hell of a defender. Inter should still be too strong at the Bridge, but I have a feeling the rentboys will luckily progress through. Cech will be a big blow to them but now they’ll get a taste of how it will be like to play without your first choice keeper. Remember the days of Foster at the beginning of the season..

  162. rooney the new king says:

    Costas – adebayor the gimp, did he I have not seen the game. didnt turnbull drop the ball for o shea to score the goal against everton A in april 2007.

  163. Fred says:

    BWAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! :-D

    A GREAT NIGHT for English football imo.

    Wembley, Wembley, they’re not going
    Wembley, Wembley, they lied
    Wembley, Wembley, they’re not going
    They’re not going cos they’re FUCKING SHITE! :-D

  164. rooney the new king says:

    Fze123 – cech has played as well has taibi and carrol, we will see how chelseas physical levels are at saterday because they are a rich mans AC milan.

  165. Debrabs says:

    Where are all the city fans tonight?

    Tick tock.. Fuck off you daft cunts and take that prick Cook with you

  166. Costas says:

    @RTNK

    I don’t think that was him. I think his name was Turner? Good thing Howard wasn’t eligible for that game!

  167. Fred says:

    Knightsmith – loving the pic, mate. The commentator on Five Live was really rubbing it in:

    “that banner on the Stretford End will now move up to 35 years!”

    “There’s a City fan in the front row with a cardboard FA Cup wrapped in tin foil… no doubt that will soon be put in the dustbin” :-D

    The Bitters must have been in tears listening to it – I was in tears myself (of laughter!) :-D

  168. rooney the new king says:

    Costas — someone thinks that game was a conspiracy like the twin towers and the TITANIC. Some said united could have been docked pts in that game, but turner hilario is chelsea’s carrol and howord.

  169. Costas says:

    @RTNK

    Yeah it was bs. Howard had just signed a contract to become a full time Everton player and some people thought that it meant that he was eligible for that game. But these agreements are done before the season and they can’t change.

  170. spencer says:

    I am delighted with Rooney. Said he would take on the goals and he has. It is just a shame he has had to carry that attack single handedly as a certain Bulgarian has once again, not lived up to expectations. must be frustrating for rooney.

    Lets look at Berbatov’s stats for fun:

    this time last year: Berbatov was on around 11 goals. This season he is on 9

    He finished last season on 14. So if he continues the rate this season, he will be on 12 goals.

    rooney is now officially on TRIPLE the amount of goals berbatov is on.

    26 goals in two seasons for a 30 million pound striker? But to be fair he has been warming the bench a lot. with good reason mind

  171. Fred says:

    In all seriousness, Stoke City are a massive club. No shame in getting a hiding off them. I think they’ll only lose by 3 or 4 goals at Stamford Bridge in the next round.

    I’m off to BlueMoon for more entertainment!

  172. knightsmith says:

    Fred:
    I don’t think tinfoil was invented the last time citeh won a trophy.

    Just sent off some WD40 to Eastlands, that lid on the tin of silver polish has rusted on!

  173. rooney the new king says:

    Costas – that was 1 season 06/07 season I will never want to relive because united were close to complete collapse ad alwas had doubtuited could pull it off, even though we were brilliant to watch I still will never know how united not only played to an insane level ofreat football, but managed to maintain that level with such a lack of strength in depth in alot of areas of the team and against a strong squad chelsea had.

  174. Fred says:

    That Wesley Sneijder is some player. Pure class.

    Hilario is a joke. Heard a certain someone has been knobbing his wife too.

  175. rooney the new king says:

    Fred – his name does say a thousand words

  176. Costas says:

    @RTNK

    Yeah it got pretty nervous in the end. Once Rio and Vidic got injured in April we were this close to blowing it. But thankfully we kept our nerve. But personally my most nervous day as a United fan was the game at Wigan in 07-08. Couldn’t stand the thought of Grant winning the title!

  177. LunG420 says:

    ok lets see if it works again…the glazers will all die in a horrible plane crash and our club will be free of that scum…and now we wait hahahahaha!

  178. rooney the new king says:

    Costas – I would have lost all faith in football of grant and chelsea won the league and CL that year when the fooball they played was a joke, there should not have been a title race that year.

  179. Costas says:

    @LunG420

    Lol. Just them out of the club will do for me. :D

  180. Costas says:

    @RTNK

    Well, in our last 3 title wins we made it a habit of allowing our rivals to get close to us towards the end. This will be the first time that we came from behind to win it since the 02-03 season. Fingers crossed.

  181. Fred says:

    LunG420 – a bit OTT mate.

    Costas – Fair play to Steve Bennett that day, could have given Wigan a penalty for a possible handball by Rio. Usually tries to fuck us over but thankfully didn’t that day. When Giggsy scored it was fairytale stuff. Great day.

  182. rooney the new king says:

    Costas – a bad death for the parasites would be a bonus, it is a shame they were not the ones who replaced a phew ppl and familys on september 11th disaster

  183. Bebeto says:

    Lads, who needs cups?

    They’ve got loaaaaaaaaaadsa moneyyyyyyy! A fact I’m sure they’ll be reminding us of when they next make inroads into a cup competition, prompting unprecedented levels of giddiness.

    34 years. Don’t sob too hard into your tea towels.

    Here’s to 35.

  184. rooney the new king says:

    Costas – I will still be imbarrased if united finished behind a terrible chelsea and arsenal sides, even though united have been bad those 2 sides are not better than united. like I say chelsea are lucky uniteds pile up of problems have been the reason why they are top.

  185. Costas says:

    @Fred

    No kidding. Referee decisions often even themselves out during the course of the season. Bennett’s decision in that game, made up for the harsh penalty that Chelsea got against us that season. Bennett’s best decision that year was the sending off of Mascherano at OT. :D

    @RTNK

    No matter what has happened, lets not go there. We can do better than death wishes.

  186. King Eric says:

    The comment by “hundone” at 20.55 sums my annoyance up.

    arijc – Get fucked I am sure rtnk can fight his own battles.

    rtnk and anyone else I have upset my apologies lads. These little squabbles now and again clear the air!

    Great to see Citeh go out and the Chav’s get beat. Just one thing why the fuck was Southgate talking like Chelsea are unstoppable. “When they play this football (what football you goofy cunt) NOBODY can live them” Except United Gareth. Love the way they talk like 2-1 defeat was a decent score yet we we win 3-2 its in the balance. Gotta sat Inter are fucking woeful. Typical Mourinho team.

  187. King Eric says:

    LunG420 – It seems your desire for Cesc to get injured came true!! Can’t you wish it on Terry? Watch the Rentboys unravel now.

  188. King Eric says:

    “Citeh fans where are you now? you make Lord Lucan look a pest”!

    Fred – Was it Alan Green rubbing it in on 5live? He hates United but he seems to loathe and despise the bitters. Probably a threat to his dippers. You will not hear from the noisy cunts now till the summer. Back in their fuckin place like the Scouse vermin. Giddy bastards.

  190. Harsh says:

    I am a huge rooney fan, but at what point do we stop comparing him with ronaldo. CR7 is gone, lets get over it and focus on the team we have because everytime we compare the two we forget what we achieved when ronaldo was here. Further to that, ron isn’t doing to shabby at madrid so lets all look forward.

  191. rooney the new king says:

    King Eric – so are we cool now and we can clear that stupid argument we had earlier and we can get back what matters talking about football again. I admit my post was at times a pile of crap so I have apoligised there.

  192. hurr says:

    Without Didier Drogba’s goals Chelsea would have 15 less points.

    Without Louis Saha’s goals Everton would have 11 less points.

    Without Darren bent’s goals Sunderland would also have 11 less points.

    Without Fernando Torres’s goals Liverpool would have 9 less points.

    Without Carlos Tevez’s goals Manchester city would also have 9 less points

    Now, without Wayne Rooney’s goals that one man team Manchester united would have 8 less points

    Funny, considering that we’re the one man team and all.

    @ King Eric
    You’re seriously starting to get irritating.

  194. brett1985 says:

    @Scott

    Brett – you say my way of presenting statistics is “strange”. Why?

    - Goals are about more than just the tally. They are about time and place as well. Earlier in the season you compared the goals the team scored against the same teams last season so where we scored 2 against Arsenal at home you compared that to the 0-0 draw which clinched us the title second last game. You compared a 0-5 win against Wigan to a crunch title match.
    - You compare the goals Rooney scores to those of a winger. Its not like for like.
    - Rooney made only 25 premier league starts last season, Tevez 18, Ron 31. For Rooney to equal those goal tallys is still impressive but curiously his low goal tally of last season will really help him to reach that goal. As will Tevez’s…..
    - Tevez who often couldn’t hit a barn door.
    - Ronaldo has won us 5 or 6 matches in the last 18 winning games of the season with vital contributions. If my mind serves me rightly Tevez had a few vital goals too. This is not to say that Rooney will not do this, he’ll have his share but he wont compensate for multiple matchwinners.
    - The season before Ronaldo got 31- Tevez 14 and Rooney 12 (13assists). Rooney wont make up for that on its own and by god it was all needed to win the league. 68 goals that year I doubt would have been enough.
    - Since chelsea are so bad we wont need those kind of heroics and that is essentially why we are in the title race because our match winning prowess has been just enough to sustain this position.
    - Picking out one of the weakest seasons goalscoring wise (last year) is what I mainly take issue with because I am contrary to the complaints not interested in Ronaldo or Tevez. I’m not interested in not praising Rooney. He has been excellent. I am interested in winning matches and winning the title and I can tell you now it is going to be very close.
    - 68 goals is not a target
    - Silverware is a target

    Sadly, I think you missed the part of the article where I talked about our defence. Maybe you should read that article and things would make more sense to you. Of course we’re not better off this season because we haven’t had our defenders for the vast majority of it. But there is no denying our attack is better this season. 18 goals better in fact!

    - I may not have addressed the point but I did read it.
    - There have been defensive problems but lets not overstate them.
    - Other factors have been in our favour
    - Chelsea have not been up to much. Take any side who won the title and many runners up from the last ten years and hypothetically they would be putting this united side away- Chelsea as well.
    - We won the league 3 years ago with Vidic playing less than Terry iirc and the defensive crisis that season cost us in Europe but not the league. It isn’t a terribly good excuse. I’m open to it as an excuse but lets look at the results…
    - 24 goals let in in 28 games in more than usual but what has it cost us and what was down to the defensive crisis?
    - Fulham was caused by the crisis no doubt but even at the best of times we don’t beat them at home. That could very well have been a loss anyway.
    - Leeds (Cup), City( Cup), Burnley, Sunderland (D), Everton, Liverpool- by poor defending for the most part. I look at Evans for a lot of goals like Birmingham (a), Milan in the San Siro, Everton (a), Brown for Villa at home etc. Rafael against city in the cup, fabio against CSKA (h). These players may not be first choice but they’ve made a great many blunders and I’m not sure you can in any way expect to play a season not having to use third choice centre back Evans. He’s a fine prospect and a fine player but save for fulham defenders have been to blame for poor defending.
    - Plus a lot of goals conceded have been at a steady rate- eg the other team scoring in a comfortable win 1-3 vs Arseanl- again these weren’t costly. 3 of the 24 were against city, again not costly as we won.
    - I see the excuse of a defensive crisis as totally invalid. It often threatens to derail us- it rarely has.
    - Of the few extra defeats we have had this year poor play has derailed us- not scoring against Burnley, being dump against Liverpool and unlucky against chelsea (but again not defending the free properly).

    Sorry if that is long winded but got there eventually and thank you for the response Scott.

    Here is to winning the league!

  195. King Eric says:

    arijc – Why’s that pal? If you find me irritating don’t read my comments, simples as.
