Zlatan Ibrahimovic may miss the next eight or nine months of his career because of the knee injury he picked up against Anderlecht.

It may mean that he has already played his last game for Manchester United with his contract set to expire this summer. Having delayed his decision to extend his one year deal, Ibrahimovic will be without a club for the first few months of his rehabilitation as a result, with early reports claiming he will be out of action for up to nine months.

What impact will this have on United? While the striker is far and away our top scorer, he’s also played 90 minutes of nearly every game this season. When compared to other players in the Premier League, he’s missed far more “big chances” than anyone else.

With Marcus Rashford hitting top form, this injury to Zlatan could have come at a worse time, although obviously nobody will be happy to see the Swede out of action.

Statistics show that United might be alright without him though.
