Stepney: We Won The Chelsea Shoot-Out When It Mattered

Alex Stepney, our goalkeeper in the 1968 European Cup winning final who Eusébio famously applauded for making an excellent close-range save against him, has brushed off our recent penalty shoot-out defeat against Chelsea, claiming we beat them when it mattered.

“I prefer winning on penalties in the Champions League final than in the Community Shield,” said Stepney. “I think we played well and the manager is getting things the way he wants them.”

True… but it still sucked ass! Giggs and Evra was awful in the shoot out… didn’t reflect their overall performance at all.

Meh we deserved the win, we created many chances, look good, always pressed, then Chelsea get a jammy goal and are right back in it and have momentum on their side, such bollocks, i’m glad we won, it was a victory for football, we didn’t need a Riise own goal to send us through.
