An old thread, but I’d just like to add my opinion:

It takes 10 Campbells to equal 1 Tevez?
I just like to point out that Campbell goals and assists stats with respect to minutes played completely owns that of Tevez. The only reason that he’s not playing is that there are two big name strikers in front of him and that he’s on loan – if he plays well when he starts Spurs know they no chance of retaining him.

Also Tevez generally plays very well, until he has to make a decision. Of all our strikers, I think his decision making is among the poorest. That’s the one factor I think that’s preventing from playing to his full potential, other than the slump in his finishing skills…

I mean, we’re all lauding his effort, but we have to admit that his stats are not that good. And for 25million is a bit too expensive for what he’s showing at the moment.

It’s not much money what is asked for Carlitos, and by the end of the loan won’t we’ve paid like 10 million and he would cost like 20/22 million? He was vital last season, and still is in this one. He never complains, commits himself 100% to United, and fights like a beast.

I say the only scenario we shouldn’t buy him is if we could get Benzema for 25-28 million. Since it won’t happen, sign a guy that is truly a red and showed it in a number of occasions. You can’t say he don’t give his heart to us.

everyone seems to think he’s our only option up front apart from Rooney and Berbatov so that’s why we should sign him…has everyone forgot about Ronaldo? we’ve got about 5 wingers now, nani, park, tosic, even giggs, hargreaves when fit can play on the right so if we needed another striker we could put Ronaldo up front…another £22mill simply isn’t worth it for Tevez…and if one of the younger players starts playing well next year we could give them a chance without pissing off big name players like Tevez and causing unrest in the dressing room…Fergie, don’t sign him up, Fergie, Fergie, don’t sign him up

And for all the people advocating his exit, please, for the love of Pete, enlighten me on another option who can come in at a bargain, take to the league if from foreign lands or to our team if already in the Prem, and be as successful as he has been for us. People mentioning Campbell or Welbeck…well, I hate to say it and don’t mean to be rude to fellow reds, but give me a fucking break. It would take ten Campbells to equal Carlos. I would love nothing more than a lad from the Academy to make it all the way through and to be a star on the big stage, but at this point with our side, and with the absolute need to remain at the top of the food chain, its going to take a one off, a genius in the likes of scholes/giggs/becks for that to happen. United just cant afford to give a talent thats close but rough around the edges sufficient time to settle in, its too dangerous and could cost valuable points.

Carlos should definitely be resigned, lets think less of his individual skills and more of his fit in the team, how e play when hes in the team and most importantly what we have won with him in the team. It’s hard to find a quality player that is still humble and selfless like tevez. Plus, there really aren’t any cheaper options if he leaves, benzema is not coming for less than 35, and besides him the market is pretty think. Why tamper with a winning formula, but in the end-in fergie we trust-…

I don’t think we should even sign him for £15 million because his wages will be £3 mill plus a year…his first touch is atrocious at the moment and by ‘at the moment’ I mean last 6 months…he undoubtedly works really hard and gives his all but get most fans on their own and they’ll tell you we shouldn’t sign him..today was a bit silly in terms of the quality of his performance…I can’t see any way we are going to sign him, he’s had a few weeks now to prove he should be signed and he simply hasn’t cut it…he claps us all the time which is great but that doesn’t make up for poor performance after poor performance.

Right now it’s a buyer’s market – who besides ManShitty has money to blow ?Roman A and the RentBoyz are skint; Real Madrid already have three or four guys – and two of them are also Argentines ! – that are on the books for “second striker” duties; ACMilan are going to get gouged to sign Beckham from LAGalaxy; InterMilan, for some reason, have goo-goo eyes for Drogba; Barca are probably keeping their spare cash warm to snatch Fernando Torres from the RedScousers because the shit will hit the fan in the spring when the banks want to be paid and won’t renegotiate their loans to Hicks and Gillette; and TheArse are a selling club nowadays.

Like I said before, this is a very bad time to try to win a pissing contest with SAF.

I would love for him to stay but taking all things into account, I wouldnt blame SAF or DG for letting him go.. like stretford972 said, if we keep him it has to be for the right price.
