Excellant article, Scott. I'm totally behind United on this one because the EFA tried to cover up for Chelsea staff & failed, but they got away with it & hope time will make all forget. We won the league 3 times in a row as a reply. The FA can go sxxk itself dry.

Great piece Scott. To Billybob, are u seriously implying that the F.A. should of done nothing about Fowler. Or not look into the Luton affair? In the publishing of this report, the F.A. have out and out branded the United people involved as liars. That is the problem here. I agree with Gary Neville, he said it's more like a criminal enquiry than a footballing one. Thing is, I agree with United's stance on this, appealing might only mean a harsher punishment. Evra misses a couple of "lower level" matches this way, if we appeal, and lose (which i think will be inevatble coz theres no way the F.A. will turn round and say, oh sorry, we were wrong, please excuse us and we shall print a full appology on our website. Come on, it aint Shearer or Terry thats up on this charge is it?) this would mean that he would be missing more important games for us. Oh I dont think this will be the last of it though, and i'm sure SAF and co. will have some sort of way of getting back at the F.A. Winning it all is the way to get back at them, the league, the f.a. cup, the carling cup and the champions league! We've already won the world club cup, but its not a win for the english league as the F.A. will try and make out, its a win for United, and United alone. It's bad enough that we have blatter n platini against us, but to take this from our own assocciation? Withdrawing our players from the England team i guess is 1 answer, but there would be so much ramification in doing that. I mean come on, others can withdraw players coz they have injuries (gerrard is 1 that springs to mind) then suddenly have amazing recoveries to play for their team the following weekend, but United are forced to let rooney play in a tournament in half the time he should of took to recover from a broken bone in his foot. Lets face it, withdrawing players would have a far worse "punishment" than it would be worth. Besides, our England players (rio, brown, rooney, carrick ect) WANT to play for their county. They have PRIDE when they pull on that shirt. It just wouldnt be feasable. Best way like I said is to just keep on winning. The F.A. can do nothing about that!

good article, scott. you should email it to someone like daniel taylor at the guardian (their utd correspondent and he's fan too, i believe) and see if he's prepared to print something along these lines. you've done all the hard work for him and i reckon it would be worth seeing if he'd be prepared to do it. the guardian is a newspaper that would love something like this, and in particular daniel taylor. at the end of the day, if the FA can go public to try and make us look like mugs, then why shouldn't we do the same?

Billy Bob - feel free to back up what you are saying about UEFA and pre-season friendlies with evidence/proof.

Bosnich failed a test... Rio offered to take the test on the same day when he remembered, but they turned him away. He had an independent test the following day which came back negative. Yes, it is normal to expect Bosnich would get a harsher punishment.

Do you have anything to directly compare Fowler's homophobic taunt and cocaine snort with? No? I personally can't remember any United player doing either of those things, so how can we say whether Fowler was treated more or less harshly?

I have compared like for like, with United coming off worst because of the FA. You have just mentioned a load of instances when people have been punished by the FA. I'm not sure what point you are trying to prove, but at present, you are failing.

When Mellor and Gerrard were sent off in the Amsterdam tournament there was an 'agreement' in place with ALL the clubs involved that any red cards would not carry a ban!

UEFA after that event tightened the rules with pre-season friendlies and thus subsequent red cards would carry further punishment!

Therefore i can state categorically that the FA treat United the same as every other club with regards to this matter!

You have selected individual comparisons that show United to have been treated unfairly, yet there are numerous cases in all instances where clubs have received harsher punishments than United.

i.e. Bosnich got a 9 month ban for a failed drugs test!

Fowler was fined £32k by the FA for his homophobic taunts and his mock cocaine snorting incident!

The FA published their report into Luton Town's indiscretions earlier this year!

So, as you can see, if you want to deliberately pick instances that seem unfair to United whilst ignoring other situations then it can be done.

However, by ignoring such instances it makes you look bitter and ignorant!

Great Blog , raises a lot of questions as to what were United's legal team actually putting across to the panel , and / or questioning the Chelsea witnesses about? You have made a compelling case Scott for an appeal we know will not happen .

Perhaps publishing its findings in the long term will prove to be the FA's weak point ?

United should be restructuring their business plans right now to be sure that they never engage in any activities that support the FA again. I cannot wait until we are in a European Super League and the people who worked for the FA are out on the street.

Looking on the news site blogs I can't believe how many comments on them say it’s about time United got a decision go against them blah blah. Have none of them got a brain to differentiate between the regulatory commissions decisions we always get shafted on (Cantona, Rio) from the referee decisions where they are intimidated by the larger clubs reputation and crowds.

May be there still cheesed off we help formed the PFA most of them are old enough.

We should renegotiate the deal for tv rights on our own.
Money is the key.
Hit em where it hurts.
Let me tell you when it comes to world wide support united are streets in front.
There is no money in the league without united and it burns em up.
