Three More Years For De Laet

It seems as though Ritchie de Laet has impressed the manager as much as he impressed most of our fans given that he has just been offered a new three year contract extension.

We last saw him in the Wolves League Cup game but he previously put in impressive performances against Hull last season and Valencia in a pre-season friendly.

“Alex Ferguson told me I’m very close to the first team,” said de Laet. “There has been talk of me going out on loan but Sir Alex said I can’t leave as he may need me. The new contract is a surprise and fantastic news.”

i just love Ritchie, its really amusing that about a year back that he couldn’t make the grades in the Stoke reserves and now he has signed a 3 yr. deal with MANCHESTER UNITED.

great talent.next season it is between rafael and da laet for the RB spot.add to that the versatility he offers. he can play anywhere across the back 4.class act.has always impressed.hope he gets senior games soon.

    andsolskjærhaswonit…

i personally love wesley but he has become too injury prone of late. otherwise he would have started ahead of sheasy.good option to have though.his favourite performance is the 2nd leg at OT against Barca where he put his body on the line so many times.

Da laet is a guranteed sucess in my opinion.we bought him so cheap.one of the the best bit of business.

  10. andsolskjærhaswonit... says:

    AIG, Isn’t Wes fit atm.??
His comeback against Hull last season was immense, it felt like he was never injured.

although i agree he has been injury prone thru out his career. but in the double winning campaign he was fucking IMMENSE.

maybe hes just a Laet bloomer

  14. Hakan says:

Great news. De Laet looked a very strange signing, but is probably our most improved player during the last nine months.

  15. aig alex is god says:

    @andsolskjærhaswonit…

he was immense in that campaign but struggled last year due to injuries.plus he is 30 now.hope he stays fit though.can be valuable if anyone gets injured.

  16. andsolskjærhaswonit... says:

He indeed is a Laet Bloomer ghtt, lol.

  17. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

Richie De Laet, Ben Foster – are our scouts working hard or are they just scouting all players who are benched at Stoke.

  18. andsolskjærhaswonit... says:

AIG, he will turn 30 in a week mate… :P

  19. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

Sir alex said god came to him in a dream and told him to sign Ritchie to a 3 year contract
he started shouting “I’VE SEEN DE LAET”
    last one i swear

  20. aig alex is god says:

    @andsolskjærhaswonit…

exactly.while da laet is 21 and rafael is 19.bright future ahead of them.i actually think da laet is better than rafael because he can defend better.sayin that i m sure rafael will get better playing with rio and vidic

  21. BD says:

    haha :)
    Good ones GHTT!

Maybe Corry Evans as well. And Cathcart.

  29. Doherty says:

  30. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    twilight
sorry about that link i attached it by mistake

  31. Robert S says:

    Great News!
But we really should do it like Arsenal do. Just tell the media that he has signed a new long-term deal. No need to tell them for how long.

  32. Giles Oakley says:

‘Three More Years for De Laet’: Sounds like a prison sentence – of the sort Stevie Me might have got.

Here’s a glimmer of a thought for Emily’s next chant (presumably recorded on Gaffer Tape…great photos by the way, and congrats GHTT):

My, My My, De Laet-er… (a la Tom Jones’ Delilah)

  33. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    @Giles Oakley
I just recorded one 15 mins before you wrote that witht he link posted elsewhere but ill keep it in mind cause as soon as this kid gets more games people will want more de laet chants
nice one for the nice words about the gaffer

  34. zalee says:

i thought the same way as twilight. De Laet & Evans could become the best centerbacks pair in the world just like Ferdinand & Vidic. I wonder how the score will be when Man Utd 1st XI vs Man Utd 2nd XI

  35. theboogeyman says:

Ctrl Alt is a class act.

    In related news,our defensive future seems secure.The twins,Evans,De Laet,Brown Jr.,Evans Jr.

  36. Jack says:

Ctrl Alt deLaet, eraze ya striker like ‘delete’

LOL! you even managed to put Stevie Me in there!

  38. Jack says:

    theboogeyman
all looking good isnt it you could have a midfield like
welbeck cleverley gibson and someone else on the left

then strike force of macheda & king
the furtures bright the futures red

  39. wazza (Bezi) says:

@GHTT : Ritchie is not gonna be DeLaeted if we are gonna call him Ctrl Alt DeLaet. sorry for stealing the lines

  40. Shak says:

Saw the lad live in actio at OT against wolves. Good and confident n happy to bring it forward. We got some good options

  41. theboogeyman says:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yub2YW9ptPY
if you ever want to know if emily does a chant for someone just click my big red name and type the players surname into the search part

  43. Fze123 says:

really chuffed about this news, oh I am so glad fergie didn’t loan him. he’s real class, will be needed if we are plagued with injuries in defence (god forbid), and a promising player for the future of the backfour.

offtopic, but, according to jamie redknapp:

“Of all the strikers in the Barclays Premier League, including Fernando Torres and Didier Drogba, Dimitar Berbatov has the best technique. It’s time to stop being enigmatic. He tries too hard to look cool.”

wtf? berbatov is the king of über cool, without him even trying. I mean he should find out what tv shows berba watches, seriously.

  44. Fze123 says:

but I fully agree about berba being the striker with the best technique, no doubt about that.

  45. theboogeyman says:

GHTT-Thanks mate.I know I can search, but it’s less work for me if you do it.
On the other hand,if I interrupted your daily life,I apologise. :)

Berba tries too hard to look cool?!?He looks cool because he looks like he’s not trying.

And yes,he does have the best technique in the league.

  46. wazza (Bezi) says:

    Sheasy at his best :-)

  48. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

  49. Dimitar Berbatov is King says:

Berbatov will reign as King soon. I hold absolute faith in him. That goal against Sunderland, pure magic.

I do wish he would score 20 goals this season. With 20 assists too.

  55. willierednut says:

Good to see the younger players signing long term contracts, now lets get wazza tied down as well the boys class. I seen he was getting some stick from so called united fans at the weekend, ill just say wen rooney plays well united play well.

  56. aig alex is god says:

jack.thanks mate.dont know how long i will be awake.how is vds doing?

  57. manutdchampions2008 says:

    willierednut
rooney is a type of player you do not wat to rely on because he blows hot and cold. he is better when there is less pressure on his shoulders and he can play his natural game.

  58. willierednut says:

You will always rely on your top players, our team shud be built round rooney he is our talisman after all.

  59. Jack says:

    aig

  61. Jack says:

    king was alright drew vader
    macheda was good
    fabio was alright aswell
abit of shit match to be honest mate not many shots

  62. Drew Vader says:

Thanks man. Lets get King some more minutes for the senior squad!

  63. mancunianforever says:

Whatever the manager wants, it must be good.

  64. Devilton says:

He looks a very bright prospect. Very pacey and willing to run forward and help with the attack. Will need to improve defensively, but that will come with more first team opportunities.

  65. adrianmclo says:

i think he resembles O’Shea in many ways. Versatile and solid. I really didnt expect that when he was signed, someone who hasnt even started for Stoke. They must have missed out on him quite badly.

    Great years ahead of him
