Tottenham Love Paul Scholes

Manchester United take on Tottenham Hotspur in the League Cup final on Sunday, something which United are obviously favourites for. However, United are likely to field a team with more youngsters, in fitting with our attitude throughout the competition, including the likes of Evans, Gibson, Welbeck, Eckersley and Possebon.

Jamie O’Hara, who played an important part in getting Spurs to the final, has spoken in praise of Paul Scholes, a sentiment Harry Hotspur agrees with.

“United are a fantastic side, and Paul Scholes has been a huge part of that,” said O’Hara. “He has always been an idol of mine for what he can do on the pitch. He is someone who has always kept himself to himself, and who has let his football do the talking, which is how I want to be. If I can have half the career he has had, and be in the same calibre as him, I’d be delighted. He is an unbelievable all-round footballer.”

Dear god, have we reached a time when players grow up idolising Scholes?Where did the years go?15 years and it feels like yesterday!

Jamie O’hara you’re just one of many players in World Football to join the Paul Scholes fan club. Just to name a few, Zinedine Zidane, David Beckham, Peter Schmeichel, Laurent Blanc, Rio Ferdinand, Cesc Fabregas, Xabi Alonso, Thierry Henry, Michael Carrick, Luis Garcia, Edgar Davids, Micah Richards, Kevin Nolan, Roy Keane and the list goes on. ” Paul Scholes is possibly the best midfielder of his generation ” as the great Zidane once famously put it. There’s no greater shame to World Football than to see Paul Scholes not being recognised with the honours he deserves such as Ballon D’Or etc. My all-time favourite United player, Paul Scholes. LEGEND

Sully, there are some names there, but Kevin Nolan!!! Did he teach Scholesy how to tackle!

  4. Samuel Godfrey Baguma says:

Paul has been great throughout, no wonder he is one of the few greats in the mid field of all times. The best is yet to come from him. Wait and see the wonders which he will do before his retirement from active football.

Samuel, ” the best is yet to come from him”? Id love to think so, but somehow I doubt it…
It’d be great to see him to get a run on Sunday and help the younger lads win the Cup though. Sunday could go anyway, hopefully we’ll keep the momentum going, but it depends on the team selection, and which Spurs team turns up.

he is simply the best midfielder that i have ever seen.than even any of the midfielders mentioned above(by sully).COMMANDER IN CHIEF OF THE MID.

North Stand,Tier 3,Back Row it’s good for us that they have only one good striker available. It really can go either way and i do believe that apart from Welbeck and Gibbo,it will be a very familiar United side.Scholes could start in order to help Gibbo out.I would also like to see Anderson play.A 3 man midfield with Nani,Tevez and Welbeck in front of them.

Good point, I forgot they had injuries and cup tied players. They will still be up for it though. If we’d a full defence, we’d throw Pavlychenko around the place, he wouldnt get a sniff, but that all depends on who plays. We should still be ok, but it’ll obviously be a tougher game now we’re resting some of our ‘bigger’ players, and this is definitely Spurs big ‘Cup Final’ for the season, for want of a better term. This and survival, and ‘Arry will be a ‘ero at Tottenham ‘otspurs!!!

Sully s always spot on about scholsey…in my 32 years of watching utd…he and captain marvel robbo remain my all time fave players.

As for the final….we want to win the cup..its another trophy…it breeds success…we deserve to win it….and that puts confidence into the team for further bigger prizes. Not to mention winning as much as we can and this bid for history etc, not to mention the field day the media would have if we lost thier ‘quadruple bets and stories’. Losing a cup final no matter how small always leave a bad bad taste and is a detriment to the team. Id be absolutely gutted/heratbroken if we lost.

The question is if we were playing burnley..ok put as many youngsters in as poss. But we’re facing a spuds side really up for the biggest game of their small clubs life. Its their only chance of silverware..hence resting players 2 months in advance. No matter what they’ll field a tough prem team. Now our first team would do them over ofcourse. but half the kids???? even welbeck and gibbo….yes they deserve it seeing theyve played all the rounds. But could this backfire.

Ala arsenal…their kids got them to a final and a semi….but then saw chelski and spuds field their full strength teams as always. And got beat.

Weakened utd team play and lose?

A cups a cup for me…put the big boys out SAF…..swat Spuds away and then bring on gibbo and wellbeck to taste the day

Sully don’t take this the wrong way but you only seem to respond to articles concerning Scholesy. Just would like to see you on here more again.

  11. King Eric says:

I know what you mean Suhayl but hasn’t SAF already said that Gibson will start. I reckon if we only play Gibson, Foster and possibly Wellbeck from the “young uns” we will be fine. Would hate to see him put 5 or 6 of them in and it back fire. Like you say success breeds success and I would hate to see/listen to media if we did get beat.

  12. suhayl says:

Yep King Eric..gibbo was confirmed many a day ago. No disrespect..i love gibbo and welbeck to bits….like any of our players. But makes me slightly wary and nervy knowing they’ll be playing..when a cups at stake

  13. SteRDLK says:

Doesnt everybody love Paul Scholes? Hes a rarity in football, shunning the limelight just as Giggsy (to a point anyway) and Neville have dont. If only Becks could have done the same.

Hope he plays alongside Gibbo on Sunday
