I can imagine Spurs supporters not being happy. It IS a win-win for us and I would be really pissed if the boot was on the other foot, but its not, lol. I can’t imagine that they haven’t negotiated some kind of first option on Frazier Campbell, even one without a specific price attached to it. If not then Levy has been a silly billy and we get a raw kid turned into a top-flight English striker for nowt. Nice one.

Not one Spurs fan I know is happy with this deal, we are grooming your striker. If he proves to be dynamite you get a proven youngster, if he is rubbish, no loss to you bar a few million re-sale, where some clubs are so stupid they think a United reject of any measure is worth money (Everton thinking Saha and Neville are worth buying).

I am happy Berbatov was sold for £30m, I think that is good business, but I think it is probably £20m plus £10m if United beat brazil 8-0 in the world cup final while Berbatov balances a pint glass on his nose and scores a hat trick.

This deal should not have been done without cash up front, and the legal action still sanctioned. As for Campbell, if this deal does not offer an option for a permenate sale then I truely think United have got all the benefits.

Campbell has significant upside – he showed that in the game v. Newcastle. Selling him at a discount would have replicated the folly of letting Rossi leave for what is, in terms of the relevant economics, chicken feed. If it turns out that Campbell does well down TheLane then his value might double, or rise even more. If he hardly gets a sniff of game action then he can’t be sold for less than Kieran Richardson, can he ? So, the upside would yield, say, fifteen million; the downside would generate five million. That’s a great difference and would make the over-payment for Berbatov disappear at a stroke. SAF is a canny old fox, eh ?
