Traitors At United

The Daily Mail have been running a feature which names and shames the top 50 football traitors.

Quite a few of them have a United connection…

42. Dimitar Berbatov
For sulking his way out of White Hart Lane – infuriated everyone connected to Spurs
33. Mark Hughes
For taking the manager’s job at Manchester City.
14. Denis Law
For returning to Manchester City after over 300 games for Manchester United.
13. Rio Ferdinand
For signing for Manchester United from Leeds.
12. Eric Cantona
For moving to Manchester United from Leeds after helping Howard Wilkinson’s team win the 1992 First Division title. He ended up doing quite well at Old Trafford too
9. Wayne Rooney
For claiming ‘once a blue, always a blue’ before joining Manchester United after just 67 Premier League appearances for Everton.
8. Alan Smith
For joining Manchester United from Leeds just weeks after the Yorkshire club were relegated (the first time). Ouch.
7. Paul Ince
For being photographed in a Manchester United shirt while still a West Ham player. Still receives plenty of stick at Upton Park for that slight misjudgement. [STR: No mention of him then going on play for Liverpool and kiss their badge for scoring a last minute goal against us?]

  4. Red-Manc says:

Dimitar Berbatov is in that list?! what type of ABU bullshit is that, spurs arent one of our hated rivals, he helped them win the CC he then asked to leave they refused so he sulked, he didn’t talk to the media about it he just quietly sulked.

Alan Smith and Rooney yeh i can see why there in there but i love them for it, especially Smith it was HILARIOUS seeing the leeds scum reactions.

Cantona? The man was made for United (Manchester that is) it was destiny that took him to us ;)

  5. DinoTheDog says:

The “winner” of this competition was Sol Campbell.

  6. gotta hate tiny tears says:

    Berbatov???????????????????

did he not say he wanted to leave for a club who play champions league football during the summer
spend the next seasonscoring over 20 goals for them and being there best player and also a player that got the best out of robbie keane
then to really sign for a top club who play european football while turning down alot more money signing for city showing that what he said to the fans a year befpre was the truth and he wasnt selling out.

    Oh now i see

  7. gotta hate tiny tears says:

    DENIS LAW IS MY HERO

    FROM HERE ON OUT

    FUCK THE DAILY MAIL

  8. Didsbury_King says:

Berbatov shouldn’t be in that list.
I can’t bring myself to see Cantona in that list. I know he was at Leeds but he was always United through and through.

Rooney is the biggest traitor of them all, I am afraid.

  9. Anon says:

Thanks for that piece of info Dino!

  10. Didsbury_King says:

cantona wanted to come to united because he loved the club

rio wanted to come and fell in love with the club full stop. same with berbatov

rooney came and fell in love with the trophies

  11. costas says:

Traitor is a tasteless word to use for professionals in the 21st century.Since no one talks about him,i will say that it is harsh on Alan Smith.I would have accepted that word if he didn’t help Leeds because he had his sights on United. He scored against United and kissed the badge 3 months before he came here. How does that constitute him a traitor? In Leeds United’s instance the real traitors were the owners who brought the club to this tragic state.

Red-Manc, ” It was destiny that took him to us ” Spot on mate, could’nt agree more. Eric Cantona to play for Manchester United was written in the stars!

  16. clj7 says:

oh rite they’re only the utd ones I see

  17. Stenhousemuir_Red says:

@jsos you got that spot on…. lol

  18. bingo says:

How can you call Denis Law a traitor? Do you know anything about the history of United? Your ignorance knows no bounds.

  19. Marq says:

Clearly bias article. Even the number 1, Sol Campbell was hard done by, in my opinion. He just let his contract run down, playing well in the midst of it, never did he promised to stay or say he loved spurs. Ashley Cole almost ran his car off the road he said, after finding out Arsenal were offering “only” 5k less of what he wanted. And how Figo (who has jus told Ronaldo to join Real), king of traitors, moved from Barca to Real, not top the list, is beyond me, he is even now trying to teach people to be traitors!

  20. Ben says:

To be fair, The Daily Mail is an awful papaer, so don’t take anything seriously.

  21. N0bber says:

Ince only number 7 in that list??? Fecking Judas, I wouldn’t piss on him if he was on fire, utter dog muck….Hmmz I dont like him ya know!

  22. git says:

denis law must be a` traitor` after all he has two statues at old trafford.one of the best players to wear a united shirt. the abu`s who voted for him should hang thier shitty heads in shame.

  23. Carrick's Fuckin Maigic says:

ahhh i fuckin hate paul ince….not even good enough to manage united on fifa 09….if i’d had to pick a hated eleven he’d b in it.
    Mark Hughes ?? a traitor ??
