Manchester United confirmed today that Axel Tuanzebe will join Championship side Aston Villa on loan next season, following the spell he spent at the club last season.

The 20-year-old joined them in January but injuries prevented him from having too much playing time. However, he continued travelling to the midlands to watch the home games over the course of the season and went to Wembley to watch them in the play-offs.

Manager Steve Bruce saw enough in him to want to bring him back again as they attempt to earn promotion to the Premier League after narrowly missing out last season.

It’s great to be back. This is a big, big club and to represent it again is a big honour for me. It made perfect sense for me to return for the season ahead. I know my way around the place now and owe a lot to the great people who’ve really looked after me. It was a no-brainer and now the ambition remains the same as last season – to reach the Premier League. I believe the squad we have here are more than capable of achieving it and playing at that level.

Tuanzebe was playing for United against Bayern Munich just last night before travelling to Villa today.

The manager is very interested in me. He gives me a lot of confidence to come back. It was the first time for being away from United, so it was a new environment and seeing how another club works.

I’m feeling good. I’m feeling fit. It’s good to get a good run of games over a short period of time [on the pre-season tour]. As soon as possible I want to be playing Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday, Tuesday. Off the back of the tour, I feel very confident in doing this after doing it out there against big teams.
