Kyriakos Papadopoulos is a 16-year-old central defender who currently plays for Olympiacos, who have dominated Greek football for the past ten years or more.
Having already made his first team debut, he is the youngest player to ever play in the Greek league. He is a member of the Greek U-19 side, playing every one of their UEFA Championship Under-19 matches.
It has been reported today that both Manchester United and Nottingham forest have enquired about the central defender following his successful campaign for the Greek side, despite getting knocked out.
With Gerard Pique returning to Barcelona, it stands to reason that United would be looking for further support in our defensive positions. However, this lad is years away from being ready, so unless Sir Alex Ferguson is getting all ‘Wengified’, we should start to focus on players ready to step in to the first team next season, as Anderson and Nani proved they were capable of last year.

Considering that we have Evra, Rio, Vidic, Neville, Brown, Silvestre, O’Shea, Evans and Simpson it’s not like we are shortstacked when it comes to defenders. A young lad that gets a couple of years to develop and then can step in when some of the older ones are on the way down sounds like a good idea to me. As long as we get a great forward I’m happy.

Just seems strange if he such a good prospect we are not competing with chelsea arsenal barca but err notts forest for him?
why are we wasting our efforts on players who will probably never make the grade if we sign them anyway? Look at what happened to Rossi and Pique, they were with us for 4 years and hardly got a look in. I feel we need another two more players to cater for the 3 extra games we have this season – players for the present, not the future.
