Re: Neil Dawson

Check your UEFA ratings for 2008,2007,2006,2005,2004; and you'll find Liverpool were not the highest ranked side in Europe.. So how they are suddenly ranked No1 for 2009 is beyond me; did Liverpool do something last year that everyone missed?

Re Neil Dawson (again)

As you seem keen on UEFA statistics, check out who they think are the worst supporters in Europe. That's one thing you are champions at!

Re Neil Dawson

Admitted United's win against Chelsea was on penalties, but considering Chelsea didn't have a single shot on target for the first ninety minutes, I would hardly say United were lucky.

And of course, there was no luck involved when Liverpool beat Milan in the Champions League final, or when they beat West Ham in the FA Cup was there.

The only time your lot will ever stand a chance of winning the premiership is if they introduce penalty shoot outs to league matches.

Even your so called "anthem" , "You'll never walk alone" was sung first by a football crowd at Old Trafford.

There was a time when Liverpool were the leading side in England; but those days have long gone, and will not return until you get rid of the waiter!

Neil - as lucky as Gerrard getting that penalty for diving against Meelan? At least we got our European Cup win fair and square.

Well done, Rafa has seen you do well in a cup competition. The difference between the league and a cup competition is that in a Cup competition, all that counts is the winning. He's won it once in that time. Does making it to the semis count for shit? Not when you don't even have the excuse of focussing on winning the league to explain why you got dumped out.

Most of Liverpool players were sold the next season to fund new players unlike United. United spend sooo much more on wages then Liverpool, but you ignore that! Rafa's spending has made them the best team in Europe (over the past 4 years) not two very lucky European Cup wins! http://www.xs4all.nl/~kassiesa/bert/uefa/data/method3/trank2009.html

PG - United will never go a season unbeaten as when your entire focus is on winning, you are going to get caught out on occasion.

This season, United won more games than Arsenal did in their unbeaten season, as we did last season. That's what I aspire for. Football is about WINNING, not about avoiding defeat.

" The rest will never win it. "

Some really deluded footie fans here.

And talking of duds, would you like to be reminded of Kleberson, Erik Djemba-Djemba, Barthez, Veron etc I think both managers have had clangers, but equally successful in finding good squads too. Remember we went a whole season unbeaten - now there's a record to aim for.

"I think Arsenal fans would argue against that and rightly so. Henry, Pires, Ljungberg, Campbell, Toure, Gallas, Fabregas, Adebayor, Viera, Overmars, Petit, Gilberto, Eduardo, Sagna, Clichy etc were all excellent purchases."

Okay.. Vieira has 3 EPL medals , Pires 2 , Ljungberg 2 , Henry 2 , Campbell 2 , Overmars 1 , Toure 1 .. and the rest will never win it..

It's not all about buying bargains. You have to have a balance in the squad and Sir Alex has certainly found that. Wenger's bargains haven't got him the experience in Europe of Hargreaves, the composure of Ferdinand, the attitude of Vidic, the quality on the bench to put straight into the CL final like Anderson and Nani, and so many other factors needed in a great squad. Cheap doesn't win championships; identifying the right players at an affordable price does.

PG's right, I think for the amount of money spent and recouped on unknowns who've gone on to become stellar names Wenger tops Fergie, just about. It could be argued eitherway all night long I hasten to add!:)
