This afternoon Manchester United confirmed that a deal had been agreed between Swansea and the player to bring Daniel James to the club as the first summer signing.

Having completed his medical at Carrington yesterday, a formal announcement is set to be made next week once the international transfer window opens.

Reports in the media suggested he has agreed a deal worth up to £57,000-a-week.

The 21-year-old represents Wales at international level and has impressed manager Ryan Giggs, who said: “He’s a talent, and when you’ve got that raw pace you are a threat at any level. As a winger you have to develop other parts of your game which I feel that he is doing.”

United are reportedly looking to sign five new players this summer, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer keen to sign as many of them as soon as possible so they can take part in the summer pre-season tour games in Australia, China, Singapore and Wales.
