United Drawn ‘Special’ Inter In Next Round Of Champions League

I’ll feign a look of surprise when I announce that United have been drawn against Jose Mourinho’s Inter Milan in the next round of the European Cup.

“I want them because I want to play at Old Trafford or Anfield again as I had great experiences there in the past,” Mourinho said earlier today, hoping for a draw against United or Liverpool.

The first leg takes place on February 24th or 25th, with the second leg on March 10th or 11th.

Happy with the draw? Me? I am fucking well excited.

Chelsea v Juventus
Villarreal v Panathinaikos
Sporting Lisbon v Bayern Munich
Atletico Madrid v Porto
Lyon v Barcelona
Real Madrid v Liverpool
Arsenal v Roma
Inter Milan v Manchester United

    This is interesting

  2. gautam says:

  3. gautam says:

    noooooooooooooo!

  4. boolman says:

probably the worst opponent to draw up against. But it is always like this with us. Plus Inter are not that great in Europe. Come on you Reds!!!!!!!!!!

  5. invertedquestionmark says:

I was just starting to miss Mourinho.:)

  6. Anant says:

so desperately wanted madrid…fuck! we even came so close to drawing them . anyway , inter should be easy . they have a slow defence and an old midfield . shouldnt be a problem . welcome back ‘’special one” – here is where your career starts getting ruined!

  7. Its in my blood says:

Not a problem! We’re about to become the first team to sucessfully defend the champions league trophy. Rentboys Arsewipes and YSB’s are all heading out!

  8. liveD says:

urm.. one question. liverpool or real madrid to proceed to the next round?

  9. cherry says:

I have a mix feeling scot. I would have prefered Spoting or Atletico. But the draw is already made and we shld not cry over spilled milk. I hope fergie would comment sensibly and not like those useless comments he a couple of years ago when we drew Madrid in the quarters. I dont knw why fergie is always afraid of these big names in europe. For God sake we are not in the same bracket with Inter. We are far superior. His first comments would shortly tell us the direction of the results come Feb. Forza United!!!

  10. Anant says:

    forza united ??!!!

  11. Nino says:

liveD – I’d rather chop my bollocks off than root for either the dippers or r.madrid, but if u reeeeeally pressed me hard then i’d have to go for the dippers at this moment in time. purely because madrid are a bunch of fucking cabrons who have no shame and sense of self respect

  12. Nino says:

cherry – forget playing one of the ‘weak’ teams. This is the Champions League FFS! Only the cream of the continent remain after the group stages (usually..) and we are also the reigning champions! Teams should be scared of drawing us, not the other way around. Although I don’t want to count any chickens too early and be too overconfident, I predict that we will dispose comfortably of Inter, even if we are not at playing at our best, as the Italians are no great shakes in Europe and always freeze on the big occasions.

  13. DanS says:

I said before, “anyone other than Inter”… It is going to be hard. Fcuking Jose

My predictions on teams to go through:

    Juventus
    Villarreal
    Bayern Munich
    Porto
    Barcelona
    Liverpool
    Roma
    United (I hope)

  14. cherry says:

Nino, it is not that am afraid of any team, I am not oblivious of the that we are the reigning champs either, my worry is the gaffer’s attitude when ever we draw a so call big team esp in europe. He normally went for the conservative way instead of what we are known for. Remember the panic he instilled in the players when we drew Madrid the last time. The Game in Madrid was not one to remember at all but when we got our confidence back at OT we all saw how it ended. That has always been fergie Nino!

  15. DarkDevil says:

    Damnit…why couldn’t we get Bremen!

  16. devilinho says:

I hope this time it will be ferguson who celebrate by the line.. ;-)
and it will a good opportunity to prove our superiority over the italian (99: Juve, 08: Roma, 09: Inter) hopefully we can make it up later with AC..

  17. Costas says:

I would have preffered if we had played Inter at the group stages.By February,Mourinho will have instilled into them his type of play. That is not to say that we are done for.Since United have the better players,i think it will comw down to Fergie’s tactics and the Vidic-Ibrahimovic showdown.I think that the tactics we used against Roma at last season’s QF will not work here since Inter won’t be caught in a compromising position defensively.None the less,we had to play them at some point. The way the draw was going,i thought UEFA had manipulated it so that we drea Real.

  18. k9 says:

The team that beats the one that beats Real are the winners, if trends are anything to go by, and we should relish shoving it up either of the dippers or the madrid scum… :D
    United!

  19. w says:

I’ve watched Inter play a couple of times. They’re lame. But I’m sure morinhio will have them defending like mad, and play on the counter – same game plan as when he was at porto. If we have everyone fit and are in good form, we must go through.

  20. Red-Manc says:

Very interesting draw, probably one of the hardest we could of got but if we win it will make it all the sweeter.

    COME ON UNITED!

  21. Wiggsman says:

V tough game as Inter look good at the mo, but its a Great draw – after this round a lot of dangerous teams for us especially will be gone, I expect all the brit teams to progress, maybe Arsenal will find Roma 2nd leg tough. Get rid of Inter, Juve and Real – really opens it up and hopefully for some of the older players, memories of 99 v Inter will inspire them – Giggs was imense then.

Bottom line is that this team has to retain the cup to gain its place as a great team, and for Fergie to be unrivalled as the greatest Manager of the modern era. We need Scholes back!!

  22. debaser says:

Costas wrote- i think it will comw down to Fergie’s tactics and the Vidic-Ibrahimovic showdown

Man reading that just gave me goosebumps! I can’t wait!

  23. JackenDasGrock says:

I could have predicted that draw. Gotta be fixed. still gonna be exciting watchin bin dippers and rent boys get dominated.

  24. dela says:

For once, I’ll root for Madrid. Watching the scousers lose is a joy, whoever the opponent. Plus, I’m still hopeful of a United-Real clash in the quarters, with Ronaldo scoring the winning goal for us.

  25. Redrose says:

    Mourinho, are you listening ?
    We’ve kept the trophy glistening.
    In Rome come May,
    We’ll take it away,
    Walking in a Fergie Wonderland.

  26. Stephen says:

Redrose, I prefer the more simple chant of.
    Fuck off Mourinho,
    Fuck off Mourinho,
    Fuck off Mourinho.
    Repeat when necessary.

  27. Gary says:

Absolutely gutted we didnt draw Real Madrid.

Inter is the toughest draw United could have had, any team managed by Mourinho is not the ideal team to play over 2 legs. United have the better players, but then again we had the better players when we played his Porto side. It will come down to who gets their tactics right over the 2 legs, and who gets the rub of the green.

  28. EastStandManc says:

Tough draw. But then, who’s ‘easy’ these days?

I’d be interested to know just how much Inter have improved under Mourinho after getting dumped out of the CL by the ‘dippers.

Hopefully we’ll approach the game in a more continental style like we did against Barca and Roma in last season’s CL (at least for the game at the San Siro). I’d be happy coming back to Old Trafford with a 0-0 or 0-1 scoreline (even a 1-0 loss isn’t bad) so we can give them a fucking good hiding.

  29. Stephen says:

If we had finnished second we would have played Panathinaikos, but bring on anyone, I would rather play the Italians over two legs with the second at home, and give Mourinho a welcome back to Englanhe deserves, rent boy.

  30. Jake says:

champions league is unbelievable if you look at the teams in it this year, forget world club championship…should just call the champions league the world club cup as well….I prefer a difficult draw, nothing worse than two more games aginst sporting (seems like we play them every year) and Inter are not in our league in reality, only barca can compete with us on the continent so two decent performances and we’ll be fine.

  31. King Eric says:

Good draw. Excited about this tie. Rio or Vida will have that cunt Ibrahimovic in their arse pocket. Scousers or Real? Couldnt care less!

  32. Markus Revolver says:

To be the best, you have to beat the best.

  33. Red-Manc says:

scousers or real, either way fucking hell what a match that will be personally i want madrid because of everything that’s gone on recently and by having madrid that would mean the scousers are out, but if we play the scousers it gives us the chance to knock them out, its a win win situation

    i hate them both.

  34. Patrik says:

If we can stop Ibrahimovic, then they have no creativity. So I just hope that Rio and Vidic is fit because then I am confident we will beat them.

  35. TonyBee says:

Vidic is sharpening his studs already …….
