now now, Barnsley are a small and poor club, you shouldn’t treat them like this… ITs not good, but this is not the 1st time..

  2. mikekelly12 says:

Just because it goes on doesn’t mean its ok! MUFC the religion, grow the fuck up! I bet you’d be lovin it if the dippers came to OT and did this……

  3. Mark says:

So what if it goes on at away grounds? Does that make it alright.
This website is superb, but some of the clowns that post comments on it are clearly pond life.
I go to away grounds and would never ever ever behave like this. Would posters on this site be laughing and making jokes if the scousers had done it at OT?
Are you too stupid to see that? Are you too stupid to see that it gives our club a bad name?

  4. King Eric says:

For the couple jumping on my back I would like to say I do not agree with what happened last night in anyway, shape or form. I stayed in my seat at half time and wasn’t even aware this had happened till I got home. Surprised at some of the “shock horror” shown by some people though.

  5. mikekelly12 says:

I don’t think it is shock or horror that people are expressing, I think the majority of us are too long in the tooth to be shocked or horrified by these actions. However, what is being expressed is disappointment that the minority have managed to tarnish our club in such a manner. We don’t need to give the football hierarchy any excuses to put us in the dock as they’re out to shoot us down at any opportunity, this just gives them and the rest of the ABU’s more ammunition.

  6. North Stand,Tier 3,Back Row says:

Its not ’shock horror’ to me, but its not acceptable either. How would ye feel if the exact same United fans were having their bit of fun at Old Trafford instead of at away grounds? Would your attitude still be the same?
I do the aways when I can track down a ticket, great days, and great banter, this is not the norm, although it does go on. Its not acceptable. Our away support is second to none, even most other clubs admit that, this does not have to be part of it. Hopefully its only a very small minority, and they get dealt with. I saw this on Sky Sports News this morning, and I wasnt horrified, shocked or stunned, but I was embarrassed.

  7. Haakon says:

No one was harmed. A shop was smacked. So what. Compare fans of today to fans of the 80s. Our lads here are angles in comparison. What an excellent away support yesterday. Awesome.

  8. Giles Oakley says:

I’m shocked that some think it’s an ‘over-reaction’ to criticise the lunk-heads who trashed the bar and terrorised the staff. I’d guess no-one is ’shocked’ at the actual incident, because it’s sadly no real surprise, but it was truly shameful behaviour, and no amount of bragging up violence will make it acceptable to the vast majority of United fans, as shown by the comments on this site, thank God. The away support is brilliant (over the years I see more of United away than at home) but this has nothing to do with ’support’.For those of you who think stuff like this is ‘brilliant’, test it in this way: what would Matt Busby think of this? How do you think Bobby Charlton feels? Do you think Ryan Giggs’s heart swells with pride to see the pictures? If Eric Cantona was present, do you really think his belief in working class solidarity would come out as applause for scaring young women into hiding? Roy Keane may have got into a ruck or two, but do you think he’d join in something like this? Then there’s Fergie, no shrinking violet him, do you imagine he’s going, ‘Yeah, Great! Just what we need right now!’ I hope United offer some compensation to a small, struggling club.

  9. Chep says:

I haven`t heard all of the posts here. After I read it on the web on what happened there
    http://www.nytimes.com/reuters/2009/10/28/sports/sports-uk-soccer-england-violence.html?_r=1&ref=global

I was wondering what your, local guys, view is on the incident. I am glad to see that almost all of the posts here I read is against such a behaviour and you consider this as a shame.

    Was this really necessary?

  10. jespermoses says:

Thats what happens when you charge £2.00 for a bottle of water!!

  11. jespermoses says:

It was out of order but the pies must have been terrible. The second picture clearly shows a half eaten Barnsley pie……..

  12. Gee says:

Hang on a minute it wasnt just Utd fans, yeah its out of order and they should get shit for it but you will find as many Barnsley fans were nicked as there was Utd fans!! and where is the fucking security from the police so these numptys cant act up, the same place it was when that twat ran on the pitch for 5 mins and everybody stood and watched!! same old policing from the yorkshire twats and guess who will get hammered for it!! nothing fucking changes!!

  13. King Eric says:

Gee – Yeah have to agree with some of that. All the coppers and security were at our end and when the 2 Barnsley fans ran on fuck all was done about it.

Also I have read reports that the police were under threat from bottles and such. The coppers in front of the North Stand were actually laughing at the chants of “we paid for your hats”.

  14. Gee says:

King Eric – Exactly mate, as soon as our fans are involved all sorts of “storys” come out from the press but not the exact story. We are no angels, far from it but we shouldnt always take the shit for all the trouble, and thats what really fucks me off.

  15. North Stand,Tier 3,Back Row says:

So its the lack of policing thats the real problem, not the twats that wrecked the place, and stole cash from the till? Fuck that.
We all have to take responsibility for our own actions, we dont all just stay in check cause the Police tell us too. If these dickheads want to travel to Barnsley, Liverpool, or London on their own time and go wreck the place, that doesnt affect us, we cant stop them, but when they do it on away days ’supporting’ United, they drag decent fans, and the club through the mud.
It doesnt take much for the media and opposition fans to hop off us for the smallest thing, so this is sad to read.
I couldnt give a shit if every Barnsley fan got arrested leaving the ground, that doesnt concern me.
I know this goes on, and worse than this again, by most sets of fans all over the country, but it doesnt mean it should be accepted, and Im concerned how many on here think its just a bit of a laugh and it shouldnt be mentioned. Incidents like this bring shame on our great club.
Im not trying to take the moral high ground, or say Im any better than anyone else, but its only scumbags that would trash a place and steal cash.

  16. SteRDLK says:

There is absolutely no defence for this sort of scumbag behaviour

It is 2009, not the 80s. Dont compare them. It is still pathetic behaviour

We are Manchester United, not Liverpool, Leeds, Chelsea, West Ham, Millwall. It is still pathetic behaviour.

It doesnt matter than Barnsley fans may or may not have been involved. It is still pathetic behaviour!

Each and everyone of us should be ashamed of the United fans that decided to take part.

And no, Im not saying no other fans have ever done this, including Barnsley fans last night

But people are trying to defend this behaviour just because it was United fans. Sick.

  17. SteRDLK says:

And this is real life, not some movie with Danny Dyer or Elijah Wood. Real violence, real thuggish behaviour. Really fucking pathetic.

  18. North Stand,Tier 3,Back Row says:

Just in case the reports from Barnsley last night are hyped up a bit for a newspaper story, my mates were at Villa away last year, and the United pub they were beering in at the time got absolutely trashed by a few ‘United fans’ before the game. And the taxi driver we had at Blackburn away last year purposely drove by a pub that was closed, telling us it got smashed up the season before by ‘United fans’. Lets not kid ourselves, this does go on.
I love the away days, the atmospheres created are the best in the country, and the travelling to and from to grounds, tracking down the United bars where the United fans are, its fucking great, and overall we are all very well behaved, and are a credit to the club, and the comaraderie bewteen complete strangers at the away days just cause we are on the same side is brilliant. But it just takes a few morons and a few stories like last night to fuel the fires of the other clubs who hate us.
Yeah it goes on all over, it doesnt mean we have to accept it as part and parcel of the game.

  19. Chep says:

I can`t believe, what I read. So the riot is the result of 2 pound water bottle and not enough bobbies at the kiosk, right? nothing like self-control, responsibility for your actions….

  20. dirkcee says:

KingEric- I’m totally chilled mate. I wasn’t shouting or salivating at the mouth. :) was just saying what i thought was a reasonable thing that they disgrace our football club with their actions. What’s wrong with that?

  21. Tufty says:

The pictures used here and the wording by Scot do not tell the true story and actually portray the event in a worse light than what happened.
Thats not to condome what went on or condone the way certain sections of our support feel fit to act.

  22. bigphil2003 says:

Yes, yes – scott is the devil, we know…

  23. Gee says:

Im not saying you shouldnt have control over your own actions and have respect for the places you visit on your travels coz you should without doubt, and it was well out of order, I just dont agree with the hyped up stories that come out. Like North Stands tale about the taxi driver, well many away day Ive been in a pub with our away support (which is fucking brilliant most of the time), all having a laugh and a bit of banter with the locals, then up rolls the home teams hard men and start going for us, smashing up there own pub!! then Utd fans stick up for themselves, some of which never dream of fighting normally but whats the story the taxi drivers tell “that pubs closed coz Utd fans smashed it up last year”. My point is that if you dont know all the facts you can make the wrong judgement, and if you werent there you dont know the facts.

  24. Scott the Red says:

Tufty – I didn’t criticise and I didn’t absolve blame. I don’t think I actually could have been any more neutral. The pictures are in every paper going this morning. It’s United related news so it’s going to be on a United blog. It’s not my responsibility to protect United fans who go to football games and rob the till, whatever the story behind it.

I won’t pretend I’m surprised you’re getting your knickers in a twist about fuck all though. I can’t imagine there are enough hours in the day for you to do all the complaining you do, given the tiniest things imaginable set you off.

    Boring.

  25. Tufty says:

The pictures make that tea bar look a lot worse than it actually was and I would imagine its Barnsley FC who have released them pictures, as no media were in the concourse. The pictures have been taken a good while after the event.
As I stated earlier Im not condoning any incident.
The picture of the till itself makes it look like the till was taken, when infact some money was grabbed from it, that picture has been taken after the till was removed by the canteen staff, hence the empty draw.
The chips have been taken out of the fryers. A lot of the mess on the floor was already there from when they opened bottles.
A lot of the blame came from the way the staff handled the situation.
They refused to served beer after a large queue had formed, it would have been better to make that fact known prior to people queuing for it.
They then started asking people to form an orderley queue and pulled the shutters down until one was formed, that met with resistance from utd fans who started throwing things at the shutters, with a lot resulting in the mess on the floor.
However, it was out of order for some sections of idiots to storm the tea bar and grab beer/food.
The actions of the police and the way they treated Utd fans before, during and after the match was shocking. Ive not seen dogs and horses brought into a stadium for many a year, especially as no unrest had actually ocured within the stands. That only fueled people to start throwing things at the riot police. Yet whilst all this went on, Barnsely fans had decided to run onto the pitch (Most papers today make the pitch invasion out to be Utd fans).
Certain elements of people who attend games away from home (Mainly without tickets) have been causing issues at games for the last year or so, its only a matter of time before something serious happens. Utd fans who intervened and tried to prevent this behaviour at Wigan away this season simply got punched and attacked.
More emphasis needs to be placed on highlighting the ASBO’s yet more people seem happy to film them and post the footage on yout tube as if its some form of great way to act.
Reducing alocations wont effect these people as the majority of who’m happen to gain entry without a ticket for most games or those with tickets dont tend to get them through the official ballot. The only people who suffer are the genuine fans who act in a civilised maner.

  26. North Stand,Tier 3,Back Row says:

Gee, fair enough the taxi driver might of been talking crap, but my best two mates weren’t. They said one or two lads started chucking their pints behind the bar, the bar staff cleared out, and then the few morons went nuts. They pulled the blinds off the window, unrolled them and passed them along like a large match day flag, they broke mirrors, and tables and chairs. There were no opposition fans involved, and my mates didnt feel they were in danger at any time, they were just stunned, and confused more than anything. They shat themselves when the police rolled in and clearded the place though.
If the reports are true from last night, then it sickens me, if the reports are false, then thats ok. My comments are aimed at those that alledgedly did the damage, not all United away fans. The problem I have is that some people on here that are assuming its true dont seem to think its a serious issue.

  27. Scott the Red says:

Tufty – so the drawer from the till being taken is worse than fans just reaching in to the till and helping themselves? The picture makes it look worse than the reality? Our fans jumped over the counter and knicked the money – who’s arsed whether that’s through taking the whole drawer out or not? It’s just petty points from you day after day.

Listening to some old dear on Sky Sports News who was working last night talk about how scared she was is worse than any of these pictures.

It’s pathetic how some of our fans behave away from home and it seems as though we’re missing the older influences who can give them a clip around the ear and sort them out.

I don’t see what your problem is but to be quite honest, I don’t really care. You’ll argue black is white and it got boring months ago.

  28. Zulu-Malta says:

I’m sorry to say but if that mess and taken till was done by Utd fans it is a shamefull thing to do.
I call the United fans my brothers and sisters but in this case I call them MY ENEMIES!
Shame on you cunts that you have made bad name to our beloved club and made our rivals happy coz this morning they have loads to say against us !!

  29. Sagar says:

if this was done my united brethren
    I am dissapointed in you!!!

  30. Tufty says:

Most these people dont listen to older influences as they have no respect for prople, be it at the match from older reds or at home from parents or in school from teachers. As those who got attacked at Wigan for stepping in will testify. We even had people jumping in front of a moving train in order to delay it, whats that all about!
Doesnt help when it gets glorified on the likes of you tube etc. These people then go off telling the other asbo’s how great it was, so come the next game even more join in as they think its fun.
But one thing that is also out of order is the media coverage, Most the main papers failed to mention it was Barnsley fans on the pitch and as the day has gone on, SKy Sports News is making it out to be a case of football violence and the worst indident seen at a football ground, even waiting on the refs report of events. This occurred in a concourse at half time, I dont think the ref would have seen any of it, unless he went for a bottle of beer!
To compar it with Millwall v West Ham is shocking journalism.
As mentioned, the pictures can paint a thousand words, often more than what actually happened.
The policing was once again of the Yorkshire Police going over board, something they have a tedious history of and and reputation for, they really need to look at their policing methods.

  31. Mark says:

I don’t care if the media over hyped it.
I don’t care if the Yorkshire police are shite.
I don’t care if two Barnsley yonners ran on the pitch.
I don’t care if fans were made to stand in an orderly queue.
I don’t care if they stopped selling beer.
I don’t care if the pictures made it look worse.
It is still shameful and I am totally embarrassed.
You people stop blaming others – Do you know who you sound like?
I’ll give you a clue “It was Chelsea.” “It was UEFA.”
Grow up and accept it is moronic behaviour.
What if your Mum, sister, wife was working behind that bar?
Would you accept them being terrorised because they ran out of beer or because you had to stand in an orderly queue (diddums.)? Truly, truly, truly PATHETIC.

  32. Fze123 says:

    @ Mark, spot on mate.

  33. dirkcee says:

@mark, great post, no excuse for it.

sry i just read first few comments…

and since ive got few pints behind me ill comment on our friend “small mats”

you my friend are either a retard or you just cant see the sarcasm in those comments you so promptly replied to. im sure its clear to every one that every club has them dickheads around, yet the question is, what the fuck are you doing on this blog trying to enforce your let it be morals on supporters that have not and would never do such a thing…but then again, i guess every blog has those dirty fucking trolls like yourself around….

hope you see the picture by now…. tho i doubt it.

so how you go and stick ur head in a toilet bowl and flush it, as it seems theres nothing better flowing through your head…

and yes, if those were pool supporters i would have writen 2 page post about what a bunch of fuckheads they are (which is pretty hard to escape, as thats exactly what they are anyways, no matter what they do)

hope you still with me here boy….

ahh why do we even bother.. :\

  35. Gee says:

North Stand – Fair play mate, Im not gunna say all our fans behave wisely coz I know they dont. Its the fact of how much it gets blown out of proportion when it is our fans that grips my shit. I say again I dont think its right to act that way at all tho.

Mark – If it was my mum she would have started knocking some fucking heads together!! she’s a fucking nutbar lol!! and I might add a nutbar Utd fan!!

  36. david22hughes says:

“utd fans”????????? “fucking neanderthal brainless scumbags” more like………….if this is what utd fans do well i obviously am not one……….morons…….meat-heads…………call them what they are and DO NOT defend their behaviour……….disgusting idiots……..

  37. Tufty says:

In the news today again, as a lad in Rome bite off a fellow Utd fans ear at the Final in Rome.

  38. Giles Oakley says:

Tufty, from the pictures released the alleged assailant was no ‘lad’, he’s clearly a full-grown man. However I’m not going to criticise him , in case he hunts me down too and rips my ear off. Still, there are no doubt those who’d say that would be brilliant too.

  39. Dilardo says:

Bang on, Mark. Are we human or are we scouse?

  40. red rossa says:

i bet some oul barnsley bitch ignored the united supporters lookin for food in favour of barnsley fans and united are never happy with second place so went to take what they wanted haha

  41. Norton says:

I posted this on another website:

I’m not concerned by what “motivates” them or why. There is no excuse for the wanton destruction described here.
Eight have been arrested. If any are charged, tried and found guilty of inflicting this on Barnsley FC then bang them up.
If any are season ticket holders United must ban them from attending games at OT for life in my view.
If at all possible, ban them from any game involving United away from OT as well.
