Manchester United’s draw against West Ham on Thursday evening ensured that we finish second in the league this season.

The gulf between us and Manchester City is obviously way bigger than it should be, so it’s hard to get too worked up about finishing second.

Although it would be unfair not to recognise the progress made under Jose Mourinho. Last season we finished 24 points behind Chelsea and now we’re eight points ahead of them. We were 17 points behind Spurs and now we’re four ahead. We were seven points behind Liverpool and now we’re six ahead. We were six behind Arsenal and now 18 ahead.

Lots needs to be done this summer to ensure that we can at least compete for the title next season but with a trip to Wembley just over a week ago, it’s worth remembering it’s not all doom and gloom.
