From what I have heard in the past, we would have to buy up the houses next to the railway in order to match the North Stand on the South Stand side. Another option which has been looked into would be for the South Stand to be built on pillars with the railway running under it (as would be the case if the houses were bought up).

If the houses are bought, we would be able to include corporate facilities in the new South Stand, if not, then it would be similar to the Stretford End with pretty much just the stand.

There is another option of adding quadrants to the South Stand with a wall heading up to bring the roof in line (i.e. South Stand not having seats as high up as the North, and instead having a vertical wall, of sorts).

I remember the stadium from 1990 and compare that to what we have now, it is unrecognisable, with only the South Stand left pretty much untouched. The Stretty and the North Stand have been built from the ground, the Quadrants added and the 2nd tier on the K Stand added.

SAF has pushed for all of this, chewing away at the ear of Martin Edwards and then Peter “I’ve always been a United supporter” Kenyon at every opportunity. He is again pushing for the South Stand to be extended and I wouldn’t bet against him in making it happen.

Like I said I can’t say much, but it’s in the process. But the process is a long one.

You probably know this, but RIGHT behind the South Stand is a railway, which is a listed building and therefore protected, as well as a row of terraced houses on the other side.

Other problems include the fact the south stand contains TV studio, Camera and commentary boxes.

Should these be sorted, then we should see some progress.

Both the Emirates in Londom and Wembley are five star stadiums, whilst the new Stanley Park stadium in Liverpool will also be five star if the fucking pipe dream comes true, and to be a 5 star stadium it must be all-seated and have a minimum capacity of 30,000
The playing surface dimensions must be 105 metres in length and 68 metres in width
The playing surface must either be natural turf or FIFA-licensed artificial turf
The substitute benches must seat at least 13 people
The dressing rooms must seat at least 25 people
There should also be a separate ‘Delegate’s Room’, ‘Doping Station’ and ‘First Aid Room’
Stadiums must have CCTV both inside and outside and a ‘Security Control Room’
Must provide seating for at least 1500 VIPs and 200 journalists
The floodlights must light the pitch to an illuminance of at least 1400 lux
There must be at least three TV studios within the Stadium.
